(Molly) **What wakes him up is the tinking of stones on the bedroom window* * Morgan rolls out of bed, dragging some clothes on before looking out (Molly) **Heinzharold is stood outside chucking little pebbles at the glass (Morgan) $what?$ (Molly) $didn't hear gunfire, started to worry. Didn't realise you were busy!$ * Molly says sleepily (Molly) What's going on, liebes herz? (Morgan) $went back to sleep. We'll be down soon$ (Morgan) My good friend has come to check on us (Molly) **HH salutes him, grinning* * Molly nods (Molly) Lucky it wasnt an hour ago * Morgan nods (Morgan) indeed * Molly watches him a minute (Molly) It was rather nice though ** You are now disconnected ------------------------------ Logging started for 192.168.1.82:#7thsea on Monday, 19 July 2021 22:13:23 British Summer Time ------------------------------ ** You have joined #7thsea (Molly) It was rather nice though * Morgan nods, tying his hair up (Morgan) I agree (Molly) It's most unlike you to nap *she smiles, getting out of bed and looking for something* (Morgan) aye, it is rather (Molly) Have you seen my shift? (Molly) **he can hear Heinzharold whistling a tune from outside the front door* (Morgan) uhhh, no... * Molly looks around finally finding it behind a chair (Molly) How did that get-... oh! *she giggles* * Molly starts getting dressed, keeping it simple (Morgan) I'll... go down and let him in * Molly smiles to herself as she's doing her hair (Molly) Mmmhmm. I wont be long. * Morgan nods, heading down the stairs and opening the door ** You're now known as HH (HH) Not up early this mornin', yer worship? Varick's askin' if you're bored an' lonely up here * Morgan chuckles, heading to the kitchen (Morgan) we'll have him up here later * HH follows along (HH) Not goin' to the mainland today? * Morgan shrugs (Morgan) wasn' plannin' to (HH) Nice t' have a day off. **he looks around** Y' got mice. (Morgan) someone realising that I'm the smart one of the two of us (HH) **Molly smiles sweetly** You already have that person, my love * HH takes the coffee (HH) She's one in a million, this one * Morgan nods (Morgan) aye (HH) Only 999,999 who know I'm smarter * Morgan looks wounded (Morgan) and this from my friend (HH) **Molly looks quite protective, moving to his side** * HH nods (HH) It's a hard life * Morgan nods (HH) You're better than me at... gimme a minute, I'll think o' somethin' (Morgan) throwing, juggling, speaking like a normal person, sailing... Do they know about the alternate paths? (Morgan) no * Molly nods, looking relieved (Molly) That is good. I don't want anyone thinking that I could have married anyone but you * Morgan nods (Molly) Do you feel the same? Its cloudy but dry, fairly calm. All in all, a good morning for him to teach her to shoot. One of the gardens has an open lawn, and he manages to find an empty barrel in the stores. With it set up, she stands beside him (Molly) How do we start, liebes herz? (@Morgan) you remember what Edward was teaching you? (Molly) Not really. It might be best to start from the beginning * @Morgan nods (@Morgan) you understand how they work? (Molly) You point them where you wish to hit and pull the metal bit back? (@Morgan) right, lets start with that... hold out your hand, nice and flat * Molly does so, smiling (@Morgan) now blow if off your hand, as far as you can * Molly tries. Then she tries harder. She laughs (Molly) I can't do it (@Morgan) ok, now create a tunnel with your fingers, like its a the barrel of a gun or canon... then blow through it and see if the ball moves * Molly does so, blowing hard * @Morgan watches as the ball flies out through the gap in her hand and onto the grass * Molly looks surprised (Molly) Wow, that was unexpected (@Morgan) the same force of you blowing was channeled down a much smaller area... works the same where a river narrows and the current gets faster... * Molly nods, picking the ball up (Molly) I understand * @Morgan nods, fishing a small packet of black powder and opening it before placing it on the ground (@Morgan) this stuff replaces your breath in the pistol... * Molly nods (Molly) Like in cannons (@Morgan) exactly, just a bit less of it * @Morgan moves her away before glancing at the powder * Molly watches * Molly gasps (Molly) That is brilliant! (@Morgan) now imagine that in a tube, with a ball in the way of it escaping... only thing it can do is force the ball out of the way, but it can only go along the tube... * Molly nods (Molly) I see (@Morgan) thats how pistols and canons work... there's a little channel where the flint is, or the burning rope, that has a bit of black powder in it, which is how it gets set off * Molly nods slowly (Molly) Alright (@Morgan) First things first, we need to load it... it needs some black powder, a bit of cloth then the ball. After that you use the ramrod to push it right to the end of the barrel * Molly slowly follows the steps, concentrating hard (Molly) What would happen if I get it wrong? (@Morgan) nothing good... the ball _should_ hold it in there, but if there's too much space behind the ball, it won't fire properly, there won't be enough force (@Morgan) worst case, it could blow a hole in the barrel, blow your hand off * Molly smiles a little (Molly) That would be most unfortunate * @Morgan nods (@Morgan) its not the ideal outcome * Molly finishes what she has been doing (@Morgan) and then we had some to the pan... *he points* just there * Molly does it (@Morgan) you know the phrase a flash in the pan? * Molly nods (Molly) I do (@Morgan) comes from these... * Molly nods (Molly) What should I do next? (@Morgan) you see your target? aim at it, pull the hammer back, and put the steel plate down... * Molly does so, looking up at him (Molly) Like this? * @Morgan nods (@Morgan) take a breath, breathe out slowly and squeeze the trigger... don't pull it (Molly) ((What pistol is it?)) (Molly) **She manages to fire it reasonably, though misses the barrel** Damn. (@Morgan) These things are... fairly woeful in terms of accuracy (Molly) Should I try again? * @Morgan nods (@Morgan) practice makes perfect * Molly smiles, reloading (Molly) That it does * Molly follows the previous instructions, and misses again (Molly) How long distance it take you to learn? (Molly) Did* (@Morgan) my tutoring was... rushed as I'd been forbidden to do it... ** You are now disconnected ------------------------------ Logging started for 192.168.1.82:#7thsea on Saturday, 24 July 2021 20:40:10 British Summer Time ------------------------------ ** You have joined #7thsea (Molly) ((C&p pls)) (Morgan) take a breath, breathe out slowly and squeeze the trigger... don't pull it (Morgan) ((What pistol is it?)) Hans taught me to shoot... with that pistol * Molly glances at him with a pleased smile (Molly) Really? * Morgan nods (Morgan) my father was livid (Molly) Was he jealous? *she gently examines the pistol* (Morgan) No, he thought me too young... he forbade Hans from teaching me * Molly smiles (Molly) But your uncle taught you anyway? * Morgan nods (Molly) How old were you? *she aims again* (Morgan) About nine (Molly) That does not seem so young? **she takes a deep breath, firing again. This time she hits the barrel almost in the centre* (Morgan) better * Molly looks pleased kissing his cheek excitedly (Molly) I hit it! * Morgan nods (Morgan) now do it again * Molly bites her lip and nods, reloading the pistol (Morgan) *Molly aims and pulls the trigger. A small puff of smoke goes off in the pan, but the pistol does not fire. Turning to Morgan with a confused look upon her face, the pistol goes off, hitting Morgan in the thigh. He hits the floor, swearing* (Molly) Oh my god! I'm sorry, I'm sorry! *she kneels down beside him* (Morgan) alright, don't panic, I've had worse * Molly is clearly distressed but trying to stay calm (Molly) Do you have a knife? * Morgan chuckles (Morgan) I might have * Molly holds out her hand * Morgan hands one over (Molly) I'm going to have to ruin your trousers (Molly) **this is exactly what she said to him in the dream in the field hospital when he'd been shot in this spot on his thigh* * Morgan nods, frowning slightly * Molly cuts his trousers just as she had then. She examines the wound. (Molly) The ball needs to come out. (Morgan) This is hardly the time... * Molly blushes then laughs (Molly) Liebes herz! * Morgan shrugs a moment before nodding (Morgan) aye, get it done * Molly closes her eyes, laying a hand on his thigh. There's a tingle on the back of his neck, and then he can't feel a good portion of his thigh at all * Molly gently pokes the skin near the wound with her finger, which he only knows about through sight, not touch (Molly) Feel that? (Morgan) No (Molly) Good * Molly uses the knife to ease the ball out. It's utterly painless (Morgan) Not quite what I had in mind for your training * Molly nods despondently. She drops the ball on the grass before healing his leg. When she's finished, the numbness goes too (Morgan) So tell me what went wrong (Molly) I shot you. * Molly looks at the ground (Morgan) No, thats how it ended... what went wrong (Molly) I don't know (Morgan) best guess, the powder wasn't compacted enough, so it didn't ignite properly, hence the delay * Molly nods (Molly) So I should try again? * Morgan nods (Morgan) if it doesn't fire, point it at the ground... though not at your feet. It may still go off * Molly nods, wiping the blood on her skirt. (Morgan) no, just don't point it in my direction again * Molly nods. She squares her shoulders before firing at the barrel again (Molly) At least I only missed... * Morgan nods (Morgan) not a massive surprise really * Molly nods (Molly) Maybe this is something I will not master * Morgan shrugs (Morgan) Got to practice to get better my love * Molly nods, trying again (Molly) **This time the ball hits the metal band of the barrel, ricocheting off it with a loud ting. It misses them both. Molly sighs (Molly) I am having awful luck, arent I? (Morgan) Its not the best luck I've ever seen (Molly) Should I stop? (Morgan) No... you need the practice * Molly nods. She continues onwards, making more progress with no disasters. She shows no particular aptitude for it. (Molly) I definitely prefer archery * Morgan nods (Morgan) understandable, but there will be times this is going to be your only option * Molly nods (Molly) How long did it take you to be good at this? * Morgan shrugs (Morgan) a little while * Molly nods (Molly) How did your Father find out? (Your call, we've never said) * Morgan shrugs (Morgan) I always assumed someone told him * Molly fires again, glancing the edge of the barrel (Molly) Would your uncle or aunt have done so? Or Alarice? (Morgan) I'm betting Alarice, really (Molly) Was she spiteful like that then? *she reloads* (Morgan) she could be, aye (Molly) Did you speak to Jarvie about it all whilst we were in Freiburg? (Morgan) Tough to say really (Molly) I hope so. Will Jarvie be able to travel then? I believe she will be in her seventh month *she looks at him enquiringly* (Morgan) Might be a bit dicey (Molly) That is a shame. It will be the last time we can see them before we go to Capperlucia * Morgan nods (Morgan) We still have a great deal to do... * Molly looks at him mid aim (Molly) ...before Capperlucia? (Morgan) including that (Molly) What did you mean? (Morgan) I mean before we settle... though that idea still troubles me a little * Molly takes a moment to shoot the barrel with decent accuracy before looking back to him (Molly) You do not wish to settle? (Morgan) Not if I want to do what I'm supposed to do properly (Molly) But you will do what you will do * Morgan nods, sighing (Molly) Unfortunately, it's likely to just be a matter of time before I cannot follow you * Morgan nods (Molly) I never truly appreciated the weight of nobility until you (Morgan) why? (Molly) I used to think it was all privilege, fancy parties and less work. I didn't realise how much it constrained your freedoms (Morgan) Only if you're doing it right * Molly nods (Molly) But that is important, isnt it? * Morgan nods (Morgan) but then thats another choice I make... not to use my privilege to further my own desires, but to help the people I'm supposed to be in charge of (Molly) Which is the right thing to do. But that means setting aside your own wishes like travelling the world and not having to settle * Morgan nods (Morgan) I don't even know that I'll want to travel... but the fact that I won't be able to... * Molly nods (Molly) You do not like being told what you must do * Morgan smiles (Morgan) no * Molly smiles back (Molly) Which is partly why you're my husband and not Evie's! * Morgan shrugs (Molly) We have many responsibilities now, but I will see to what needs to be done to give you some freedom as I can (Morgan) We'll work as a team, as always * Molly nods (Molly) We are going to need help in the years ahead I think (Morgan) oh? (Molly) Koln, Innesbruck, Gottkirchen, Sudlachenburg, Lundy and Catterick. It's so much land (Morgan) Catterick is quite well looked after by my uncle (Molly) But one day... (Morgan) aye... * Molly sights up again, hitting the barrel once more (Morgan) You're getting better (Molly) That is what happens with repetition, I am told * Morgan nods (Morgan) indeed (Molly) There's time for that planning. We have years together to work things out **there's a sudden crash of thunder** * Morgan looks to the skies (Molly) **It's gotten very cloudy and yellow * Molly glances at him (Molly) Coincidence...? (Morgan) You think it might be something else? (Molly) It was just a little strange. **Theres a bright flash* (Morgan) doesn't look terribly friendly (Molly) No **There's a boom* we should go inside? (Morgan) I think so * Molly nods, carrying the pistol carefully (Morgan) Would you like me to take that? * Molly hands it over, smiling (Molly) Its nice that you taught me with that one (Morgan) I thought it appropriate * Molly mods, smiling as they walk quickly to the house (Molly) Will you teach Varick with it? (Morgan) that is the plan (Molly) And then our other children? * Morgan nods (Morgan) all of them * Molly smiles at him (Molly) Even our daughters? * Morgan nods (Molly) **The rain starts heavily, heavy drops onto the grass all around them** (Morgan) I'd almost forgotten how much it rains here * Molly laughs, moving faster (Molly) Only on days ending with Y! * Morgan nods (Molly) I hope Heinzharold brings Varick through the tunnel instead (Morgan) I expect so, he's not as daft as he seems * Molly nods, and pushes open the front doors. (Molly) Just as you are not as ferocious as you seem *she smiles* (Morgan) depends on the situation (Molly) Mmmhmm. But not with me... *she shuts the door behind them as they stand dripping in the hall* (Morgan) No... * Molly smiles (Molly) ...but? (Morgan) but nothing (Molly) It seemed you were going to say more, about being ferocious with me *she tries to keep straight-faced but her eyes sparkle* (Morgan) That would be most improper of me and quite unlikely * Molly shrugs playfully (Molly) I'm not too concerned about improper... (Morgan) There's this... thing you can do with mirrors, it lets you talk to other people doing the same thing... we speak with Molly's father weekly * HH looks flummoxed (HH) From here to Sudlachenburg? (Morgan) Innesbruck (HH) That's gotta be four hundred miles! (Morgan) something like (Morgan) thats how I know he's livid * HH cracks his neck a moment "You can get news that would take eleven days over land as easy as talking to someone instantly?" (Morgan) well, obviously it has to be planned... its not like we can do it without both parties setting it up * HH nods (HH) Useful though. 'Cept for the fact you can't do anything about anything * Morgan nods (Morgan) frustrating... though David did take it upon himself to go investigate a house I'm interested in (HH) Y' not got enough houses already? * Morgan shrugs (Morgan) always helps to have somewhere to hole up (HH) This is a pretty good hole (Morgan) better without the ghosts and the monsters (HH) *He nods, slouching further* Where's th' house? (Morgan) edge of the Schwarzenwald (HH) Why dya want a house there? (Morgan) I don't exactly... I want to know about the man who stayed there (HH) Alright, I'm hooked. Tell me more (Morgan) He was researching the Schatennman... I want to know who he was and what the hell he was doing (HH) **Above them is the sound of the others up in the bedrooms * (HH) Research, it sounds like (Morgan) came sniffing round Sudlachenburg, fake accent and all (HH) Recently? (Morgan) Before the war (Morgan) He'd written a couple of books about the sort of things we find in the forest, paving the way for a third but never published it. (HH) Very cold trail then. Got a name, or any location 'cept that house? (Morgan) an alias... and the publishers address was a dorm room. I also know he went north and became a priest. * HH thinks on this (HH) Got a year he became a priest? (Morgan) I could do an ish (Morgan) I figure he must've been a man of birth, otherwise he'd never have had the money to support his study * HH nods (HH) Couldn't afford to go swanning off to the Schwarzenwald either if he was poor or employed. Objectionist, Vaticine? * Morgan shrugs (Morgan) no idea (HH) Gotta be records of men getting ordained. Probably under twenty five, if he's still got a dorm room and the freedom to gad about at that time. * Morgan nods (Morgan) I agree (HH) Which university? ((I think it was Niedersachsen in Posen)) (Morgan) Niederachsen I think (HH) Start there, work outwards. Any man ordained in th' years around it, especially of good birth and with ties to the university. Got anyone on it? (Morgan) Planning to get Yensid on it * HH nods (HH) He's good at his job. Learnt some stuff from 'im myself (Morgan) oh? (HH) This an' that. You trust Forrester? * Morgan stares at him a moment (Morgan) you're not going to tell me? (HH) Just hard to remember, that's all. 'Ow to be better at sneaking, why it can be good to look or smell disgustin' * Morgan nods (Morgan) I trust David to a point, yes (HH) Enough to send him to retrieve an' burn the stuff I took from the assassin? (Morgan) probably (Morgan) I could probably get him to do that without telling him why * HH nods (HH) When you're speaking to him again, let me know an' I'll tell him where to find it * Morgan nods (Morgan) alright (HH) Dya want me to go back to Eisen and get to the bottom o' the mystery? (Morgan) Maybe... (HH) More than thirty five years ago... sure it matters? * Morgan nods (Morgan) judging by the drawings in his notes, he was face to face with the Schattennman and it didn't look to be attacking... * HH frowns (HH) Could have a big impact on Sudlachenburg if y' can get to the bottom of it * Morgan nods (Morgan) I know (HH) You'll look after Inga if I go? (Morgan) Of course. I'm tempted to leave it with Yensid, though (HH) Cant bear to be without me *he grins* (Morgan) Something like that (HH) Brought up some lunch with us, an' a couple of mouse traps * Morgan nods (Morgan) good... I didn't fancy trying to do anymore of those dishes (HH) Have a nice night, did ya? You, Molly an' the mice? * Morgan nods (Morgan) it was tolerable (HH) I keep telling Inga one day we'll have us a little 'ouse somewhere * Morgan nods (Morgan) I think thats important * HH nods (HH) She's not tha' keen on moving in with my mother and sisters * Morgan nods (Morgan) before all of this Duke and Gottkirchen business... we set aside a house for you in Innesbruck * HH nods (HH) Molly told Inga. First refusal on buyin' out the blacksmith when he retires too * Morgan nods (Morgan) things have moved on a bit from there though (HH) Won't see much of you in Innesbruck I reckon (Morgan) No... probably not. I'd rather keep you closer * HH nods (HH) Gonna want our own space. Won't be many years til Inga wants some children (Morgan) You'd rather live away from the rest of us? (HH) Hadn't thought about it * Morgan nods slowly (Morgan) I can't say I like it... but the house at Innsbruck is still there (HH) No rush. We're happy as we are for now (Morgan) If you're wanting to stay in Sudlachenburg, I'll help sort out a home for you (HH) We're fine. We have some sailing to do yet. * Morgan nods (Morgan) indeed (HH) Better having a bed than a hammock * Morgan nods (Morgan) I thought so... though hammocks have their charm * HH sniggers (HH) Not with a wife (Morgan) No... (HH) **There's a banging of Varick running around upstairs** (HH) Gonna be deafenin' when you have eight more * Morgan nods (Morgan) like approaching thunder... (HH) It's a lot of kids * Morgan nods (Morgan) I know * HH looks towards the ceiling (HH) I remember my Da being worried when my Ma turned up in the family way wi' Ruth. Said she'd beaten the odds four times already... * Morgan nods (Morgan) scares the hell out o'me * HH nods (HH) Worth it, if it goes well, but... * Morgan nods (HH) Will Molly be safer, 'cause of the healing? (Morgan) possibly (HH) Martha had loads, maybe it will run in th' family (Morgan) I hope so (HH) You'll have to be there t' hold my hand (Morgan) You're worried about that? (HH) Losing Inga? A bit, aye. * Morgan nods (HH) Quite a lot, actually (Morgan) understandable * HH shrugs (HH) I'll avoid it as long as possible, til she starts askin' for a child. (Morgan) You think thats wise? (HH) What? (Morgan) avoiding it... what if she avoids bringing it up, thinking if you wanted children you'd say so... * HH sighs (HH) Maybe. I just want her alive an' well. * Morgan nods (Morgan) I understand (HH) I'll talk to her. Has to be put off a while yet, too.much to do chasing you around to keep you outta trouble * Morgan smiles slightly (Morgan) You planning to stick with us for a while? (HH) Can ya be trusted not to get in trouble wi'out me? (Morgan) I'm getting into trouble even with you (HH) Exactly. 'Magine how much worse you'd be * Morgan nods (Morgan) true true (HH) How long are ya planning to be sailin' for? (Morgan) tough to say... we've got to go to some far off land and setup trade (HH) Inga says she wants to go along for that, if you'll 'av us (Morgan) best check with the duchess, but I've no issue with it (HH) Taking Varick? * Morgan nods (HH) Then you're goin' to need us if you want time to yourselves * Morgan nods (Morgan) quite (HH) Speaking o' that... are y' having Varick up here tonight? * Morgan nods (Morgan) I think so aye * HH nods (HH) Y' won't need Inga and me? (Morgan) no, spend some time together * HH nods, grinning (HH) If yer majesty commands that the lowly blacksmith's son spends the night with the comely tavern wench, I cert'ly will * Morgan nods, smiling * HH gets out of the chair (HH) I'll go and give her the royal command * Morgan nods (Morgan) aye, do that * HH goes off, whistling another song, not quite as rude as the peaches and cream song, but not far from it ** You are now disconnected (Connection timed out) ------------------------------ Logging started for 192.168.1.82:#7thsea on Tuesday, 27 July 2021 12:53:44 British Summer Time ------------------------------ ** You have joined #7thsea (Molly) **HH leaves behind him the bag containing food for lunch, and with noise and laughter from upstairs where his best friend has gone, Morgan goes to the kitchen to set about making them all some lunch. He doesn't see more mice, but when he finally tracks down the others they are outside in the garden. Inga and Varick are playing tennis, and Molly is sat beside Heinzharold on the bench. Its obviously an interesting conversation because she is turned towards him, her knee almost touching his thigh, and he has his fingers interlinked behind his head as he slouches, at ease. The tray of food and coffee is more awkward than heavy. Its obviously an interesting conversation because she is turned towards him, her knee almost touching his thigh, and he has his fingers interlinked behind his head as he slouches, at ease. The tray of food and coffee is more awkward than heavy. (Molly) HH: Home, mostly. It's what got most of th' men through it. Or th' wives and girls they had waiting for them. * Morgan puts the tray down near them (Molly) Was it exciting to be seeing something of the world, at least at first? (Molly) HH: *he nods* At first, I suppose. We didn' go far when I was young, Da was either working with the navy or working at home. You get used to th' same five miles, the whole world may as well be in it * Molly nods enthusiastically "Yes, that is how my childhood was too! Other folks came and went, bringing news and goods, but it was not much different year to year, day to day. We knew everyone and they knew us." (Molly) HH smiles at her: Not that different, your life in Avalon an' mine in Eisen really * Morgan settles down, pouring the coffee * Molly nods, then she spots Morgan briefly before looking back to HH (Molly) And then all of a sudden, our lives got unexpectedly exciting as a certain Veisgraf dropped into them (Morgan) think you'll find he dropped into mine (Molly) HH grins: They were my apples. * Molly giggles, glancing at Morgan * Morgan rolls his eyes (Morgan) fairly sure the owner of the orchard might disagree (Molly) HH: Do y' remember 'is daughter? She was a pretty lassie, one of the prettiest in Sudlachenburg easily. (Morgan) vaguely, aye (Molly) HH: Ran away when you were gone. Met a man who had been a Vaticine soldier, disappeared one night from 'er Father's house (Morgan) I don't imagine that went down well (Molly) HH: No, she's not welcome back. Went up into Wische, has two chil'ren now (Morgan) they marry? (Molly) HH: Obviously * Morgan nods (Morgan) he can't complain too much then (Molly) HH: Sends her a few letters a year sayin' how disappointed he is (Morgan) sad (Molly) HH shrugs: She loves her husband, and she's happy when I hear from her (Morgan) All you can ask for I suppose * Molly frowns slightly, taking a cup of coffee from the tray (Morgan) pity her father can't be an adult about it (Molly) **He nods** Caused some sour faces, her leaving. Most of the men in Sudlachenburg 'ad a thing for her * Molly hands HH the coffee "And you? Did you have a sour face when she left too?" (Molly) *HH takes the coffee. He watches Morgan as he lifts it to his mouth* ((expression please)) * Morgan watches him passively (Molly) **HH shakes his head: I'd had a sour face since he *he hoiks his thumb at Morgan* left. Going chasin' around after Greta pulled me out of my moping. * Molly gives Morgan a cup before taking one and sitting back down "So _you_ didn't have a thing for her, like everyone else?" (Molly) **HH grins at Morgan: I love that in a woman; brutal frankness! * Molly blushes, blowing the surface of the coffee (Morgan) Just as well, I can't imagine a certain friend of hours being any other way (Molly) HH nods, then looks to Molly with a smile: I liked her when I was about fifteen, she liked me too. Kissed her a time or two, 'neath her Father's apple trees * Molly looks surprised, glancing at Morgan (Molly) Did you know that? (Morgan) aye (Molly) Did you like her too? * Morgan shrugs (Morgan) not especially (Molly) HH: Saw Edward lookin' at her once. (Morgan) That doesn't surprise me in the least (Molly) Was she blond with brown eyes? HH: *he shakes his head* Dark hair, almost black. Brown eyes though. * Molly looks at Morgan (Molly) Doesn't Edward only like blonds with brown eyes? ((In case you dont remember, that was only since Mina. The brothel girl Petra who he lost his virginity to who Morgan saw him with in Atemlos was chestnut with blue eyes)) (Morgan) Now, yes... (Molly) HH: Convenient now he's settlin' down (Molly) Is it? *she sips her coffee* (Molly) HH nods: He can tell Lady Hapsburg she's his type, flatter her a bit (Morgan) I rather suspect she's the reason thats his type (Molly) HH: She's pretty, that's for sure. A bit too refined an' reserved for us lowly blacksmith's sons though * Molly smiles at Morgan "They would be an awful match, wouldn't they?" * Morgan nods (Morgan) completely (Molly) HH grins at Morgan: Not good enough for a Lady now, am I? (Morgan) ill suited, perhaps (Molly) HH makes a dramatic straightening of his clothes: I could dress fancier, I spose * Molly starts giggling (Morgan) I've only known four noble born women I particularly like, its not really worth the effort of putting on smart clothes * Molly glances at him (Molly) Only four? * Morgan tilts his head (Morgan) aye, its about right (Molly) Mina... your Mother... * Morgan nods (Molly) HH: Not about what y' wear anyway. 'S about how you be'ave. Not much of a leap 'tween a blacksmith's son and a Freiarr's daughter if you get it right (Morgan) there's a remarkable step down from a blacksmiths son to a Freiarr if most of the ones I've met are anything to go by (Molly) *HH laughs, then stands up, putting down his coffee. He clears his throat, pulling himself to stand straighter. He talks in a fake posh voice* Just have to imitate one's betters, you see. (Morgan) That is entirely a subjective term (Molly) **HH bows deeply to Molly, then watches her, offering his hand. He sounds a lot like Edward** My Lady, the dance floor looks most dull and colourless without you upon it. May I have this dance and correct that? * Molly starts blushing and giggling and clearly doesn't know what to do with herself * Morgan rolls his eyes (Molly) You couldn't waltz on grass, it isnt smooth enough (Molly) HH: *he blinks, then looks to Morgan* How do you get round that sort of practicality? (Morgan) difficult isn't it (Molly) HH looks at Molly with the sort of look of scrutiny Morgan saw him use on occasions in the War when trying to get information. Its intrigued rather than interrogating** Is it an Avalon thing, or a Molly thing, I wonder * Molly suddenly frowns deeply then shrugs a moment "Avalon, I think. We're just more practical" (Morgan) I'm wondering if its a class thing... I can't say a certain Avalon noble we know is in the least bit practical (Molly) **He watches her a moment longer, then looks to Morgan** Your uncle is practical * Molly smiles, but distractedly "You have met him?" (Molly) **HH nods "Couple of times. Went up there early last year at Lady Koertig's request" (Morgan) why? (Molly) HH shrugs: Letters, see how things were. I think she 'oped either you'd be there or you'd get wind that I'd been there and be in touch * Morgan nods (Morgan) makes sense (Molly) HH: Lucky his Eisen is good (Morgan) that surprises me a bit (Molly) HH shrugs: When did you last see 'im? (Morgan) years ago (Molly) HH: He's getting more eccentric (Morgan) I'm not sure thats possilbe * Molly smiles (Molly) In a few weeks, we will see * Morgan nods (Morgan) indeed we will * Molly sips her coffee (Molly) Will he approve of me for you? (Morgan) I've no doubt (Molly) Even though I am common-born? (Morgan) I think its fair to say my uncle believes that love is about the person not the status... (Molly) *HH drinks a mouthful of coffee* (Molly) What makes you think so? * Morgan sips his coffee, looking at HeinzHarold (Molly) **HH is watching Inga rather than Morgan (Morgan) Thanks for your help... *he looks at Molly* his tastes in people are considered... unusual * Molly frowns (Molly) He only likes common-born women? **HH snorts briefly * * Morgan shakes his head slowly (Molly) HH looks at Morgan: coulda been a family trait (Morgan) Don't be absurd. (Molly) What do you mean, liebling? (Morgan) Well, I married you because I love who you are, not _what_ you are... (Morgan) and, my uncle would be the same, broadly speaking * Molly looks even more confused (Morgan) lets say... HeinzHarold is more likely to get an invitation to dinner than Inga... (Molly) HH looks at Morgan: She's not understanding you, is she? (Morgan) doesn't look like it (Molly) HH looks at Molly: He is attracted to other men, not women. * Molly looks a little surprised but nods (Molly) Alright. That's why he didn't inherit Catterick, because he won't have children? * Morgan nods (Molly) HH looks at Morgan: See, wasnt tha' difficult. * Molly frowns slightly (Molly) But many men with his leanings do wed just to make an heir and a spare * Morgan shrugs (Morgan) Wasn't in his future it seems (Molly) He is still young enough. It wouldn't be impossible, surely? (Molly) **HH gestures : good luck with this one!** * Morgan shrugs * Molly looks very thoughtful (Molly) **HH glances at her then looks at Morgan with a shrug* (Morgan) You ever eaten a live snail? * Molly frowns (Molly) No, of course not (Morgan) because... (Molly) Because it would be cruel. You would need to cook them, as the Montaigne do (Molly) HH: *he starts laughing, then leans back more on the bench* (Morgan) shut up HeinzHarold... but if it wasn't cruel... think about the texture, the taste... * Molly tilts her head (Molly) I imagine it would be much like liver (Molly) HH: *he keeps chuckling, just quieter* (Morgan) raw... * Molly wrinkles her nose (Molly) Probably not very nice then (Morgan) thats the reaction my uncle has to the idea of making an heir * Molly tilts her head again (Molly) I think I could tolerate eating a snail to have a child (Molly) HH: *he bursts out laughing* * Morgan sips his coffee (Morgan) well, lets say he finds the idea quite unpleasant * Molly nods again, thoughtfully. He starts to pick up the sweet wine, exotic perfume, and velvet drapes thoughts he's gotten before when she thinks about being on The Coral (Molly) HH: $shocked her a bit?$ (Morgan) $I don't think so$ (Molly) HH nods, calling Varick and Inga over to eat. It's a cheerful little picnic, and when they are finished its decided that they will go through the woods to the church. They stick to the path, but everything feels peaceful here now. Varick trots along happily, and HH has Inga on his arm, making her giggle periodically. Molly is somewhat dawdling at the back, though not far away enough to be a nuisance * Morgan drops back to her (Morgan) something on your mind? * Molly nods (Molly) Another long ago memory * Morgan nods (Morgan) Anything you want to talk about? * Molly nods (Molly) It was when Heinzharold asked if it was a Molly thing. She used to say that. If I came in from playing and only had one shoe and no clue where the other was, that was a Molly thing. Knocking things over was a Molly thing. * Morgan nods, taking her hand * Molly squeezes it (Molly) Tonight, will you try to draw her from my thoughts? * Morgan frowns (Morgan) I can try I suppose * Molly nods (Molly) For whatever reason, the memories are returning faster and faster. I need to understand. * Morgan nods (Molly) Are _you_ well? * Morgan nods (Morgan) aye (Molly) It is nice to have a quiet day before the coming week, which I suspect will be challenging * Morgan nods (Morgan) I agree (Molly) I thought perhaps Heinzharold and Inga could stay at the farmhouse tonight (Morgan) oh? (Molly) Some problems with a house won't be apparent until overnight... * Molly keeps her eyes on the trees but can't keep the little smile from the corners of her mouth (Morgan) oh... right (Molly) Is that a trouble? (Morgan) no, not at all * Molly smiles (Molly) Good. Who is going to the mainland tomorrow? (Morgan) I don't know actually (Molly) I must see the solicitors, and my brothers and their families should be at Sunnymeade. Will we take Varick? (Morgan) Won't he be bored? Though he was looking forward to seeing his sort of cousins * Molly nods (Molly) If Inga and Heinzharold were to come with us also, they could watch him whilst we are at the solicitors? * Morgan nods (Molly) He would benefit from time with children. He has so little of it * Morgan nods (Morgan) aye * Molly nods (Molly) And Claudia? * Morgan shrugs (Molly) If you do not feel we need her protection, she may like a day to herself? * Morgan nods (Morgan) good idea * Molly nods. She squeezes his hand with cool fingers, the autumn really beginning to take a hold here in Avalon. It would still be a little warmer, back in Sudlachenburg. The walk through the woods is pleasant, and here too the orangey-yellows marking another season having started. Gotta have a proper funeral. * Morgan nods (Morgan) aye (Varick) Why didn't they have a proper funeral? (Morgan) because I ran away (Varick) Do you wish you had stayed? (Morgan) yes and no (Varick) How can it be both? (Morgan) because if I'd stayed, I wouldn't have met Molly (Varick) Maybe she would have gone to Sudlachenburg a different way? (Morgan) he's not _that_ much younger than me... * Varick laughs (Varick) Were you a boy or a man then? (Morgan) a man, though a young one (Varick) I'm am not getting married til I am reeeeeeeeally old (Varick) Maybe when I'm very old, like twenty five! *he says it as if it's a hundred* (Morgan) we'll see (Varick) Does god know Avalonian? (Morgan) I don't see why not (Varick) Do people from Avalon go to the same heaven as people from Eisen? (Morgan) Maybe... the church in Avalon is tied closely to the monarchy (Varick) Why? (Morgan) because the Queen uses it as a way to control her subjects (Varick) Oh. Do Vaticine and Objectionist people go to the same heaven? (Morgan) I think so (Varick) And god understands Eisen _and_ Thean _and_ Avalonian? (Morgan) I dont see why not * Varick starts swinging his feet (Varick) If we all end up in the same place, and he can understand all our prayers, whose we have separate religions? (Varick) Why do* (Morgan) in Eisen they didn't agree on how we speak to him, in Avalon, as I said, the queen uses it to have extra control (Varick) That's just people, not god * Morgan nods (Varick) Maybe god doesn't mind (Morgan) Thats entirely possible * Varick nods (Varick) Maybe I should pray about it (Morgan) Could do if you want to * Varick nods, clasping his hands and closing his eyes. He talks very quietly in Thean ((listens or minds his own business?)) (Morgan) ((listens)) (Varick) Dear Theus, please show me what church you want me to go to so I can still see you and my daddy one day. Thank you. Oh and look after Morgan's wife and girl please. Amen * Morgan waits quietly * Varick looks at him (Varick) Will you pray with me now? (Morgan) If you want (Varick) **The others seem to take that as a cue, and for a little while all five sit quietly in the church whilst the rain gets quieter. They are very good to do everything for us that they do * Morgan nods (Morgan) maybe I should go back and tell them that * Molly giggles (Molly) You wouldn't be so cruel (Morgan) No, probably not (Molly) _he_ would possibly do it to you though, to be funny * Morgan nods (Morgan) aye, he would * Molly smiles (Molly) Besides, it would be better to wait about ten minutes for maximum disruption * Morgan laughs (Morgan) yes, it would indeed (Molly) But at some point, he will get you back, and I find that most displeasing * Morgan nods (Morgan) and we did more or less promise not to do it anymore * Molly nods, walking across the grass (Molly) It would be dishonourable to now really * Morgan nods (Morgan) aye (Molly) **Morgan ends up carrying the boy up to his room in the manor house, and together they prepare him for bed. With the door shut, Molly says "what would you like to do now? Shall we find something to read in the library, or play some music? Or would you rather we stay upstairs incase he wakes?" (Morgan) best stay nearby... I wouldn't be surprised if he wakes (Molly) Would you like me to go down and find you a book? (Morgan) if you don't mind * Molly kisses his cheek, and takes a candle with her, leaving him alone with only the faint sound of the young boy breathing * Morgan potters about, humming * Molly is gone more than ten minutes before coming back with a stack of books. She puts them down for him to look through. It's a mix of war, political intrigue and romance (Morgan) Had I thought about it, we could've gone over the accounts ledgers (Molly) I was going to go back to fetch them, but I thought they might bore you (Morgan) They need checkin really * Molly nods, going off again. Shortly after, she is back with the ledgers. Undressing down to her shift she starts to go through them meticulously, and frequently refers to maps at the beginnig * Morgan watches her patiently * Molly continues, flicking back through older ones and comparing them. She looks quite happily engrossed * Morgan smiles. picking up a book on war (Molly) **For a change, it's a history of Avalonian warfare. (Morgan) Its not bad * Molly nods (Molly) I am glad (Morgan) how're you getting on with those? (Molly) Oh I finished quite some time ago * Morgan looks confused (Molly) What puzzles you? (Morgan) What you've been doing since then... why didn't you tell me? * Molly smiles (Molly) Watching you. So I could watch you. (Morgan) what for? (Molly) Because it pleases me (Morgan) I see.... (Molly) You dislike that? *she rests her chin on her palm and her elbow on her thigh as she considers him* (Morgan) I didn't say that * Molly smiles (Molly) I like to watch you (Morgan) can't say I understand why (Molly) You read to yourself as if you were in discussion, a hint of a smile here, a raise of a brow there. It's... compelling. * Morgan frowns (Morgan) do I? * Molly nods (Molly) When we are alone (Morgan) I'm not sure I'm pleased about that... I put a lot of effort into not giving anything away (Molly) When it is just us, it is sad that you still try to (Morgan) by that point its more habit (Molly) I like it. It's both intimate and intriguing * Morgan nods (Molly) Have you always tried to be so unforthcoming ? (Morgan) since the war, aye * Molly tilts her head (Molly) To prevent yourself revealing information to enemies, or because you take pleasure in the self-mastery of it? (Morgan) both (Molly) It troubles you to have less self-mastery around me? (Molly) **He does see the face of a little girl as he reads her mind as she falls asleep. She's a pretty child, around six or so, with intelligent eyes, and hair the same colour as Martha's, a gingery red. He tries to draw back, but he slips into the yellow tones of her dream regardless. (Molly) He's at Sunnymeade, the day is warm. The bales of hay make him think it's probably the late summer of harvest, and he can hear scything and men shouting in the distance. Two little girls emerge from the familiar farm house, and their mother stands on the kitchen doorstep. (Molly) He's known Martha a while now, but he's never seen her as young as this. She must be in her early thirties, rather than almost fifty. She looked far more like Molly then. (Molly) She's got flour on her hands and apron, and the faintest of love bites on her neck. He can hear the Catterick area accent ((like Sarah Millican's accent)) in her voice that has been lost since. It reminds him of Foxcroft. "Stay close to the house, and don't be in the fields! Molly, I mean you most of all!" (Molly) "See, Mama knows you're the wild one who doesn't follow the rules!" The older girl he has already seen says. The children have a mix of their Mother's accent and Balig ((devonshire)). Molly's balig lilt was only very slight when he first met her, and was quickly suppressed. (Molly) This dream appears to be about sixteen years ago, as Cecily looks to be around six, her smaller companion maybe four. The younger, with her dark red hair and yellow dress just shrugs "Rules are silly". (Molly) The girls start giggling, running on the warm grass and skirting the vegetables, the younger losing ground. "Give her back, Cess!" Molly shouts. In front of her, her sister has a rag doll. It looks to be a mermaid. Cecily laughs "Gotta catch me!" (Molly) **Molly suddenly stops, and looks right at Morgan. She is adorable at this age, and looks very happy and bright. She waves to him** * Morgan nods to her (Molly) **Cecily comes to her, swinging the doll by one arm* Is it one of your imaginary friends again? (Molly) **Molly smiles, still waving* I guess so. He's new. He's very handsome (Molly) **Cecily stares through him* Not the one that calls you that silly name? Eyesore-lily-are or whatever. (Molly) *Molly's chin tilts proudly* It's Iselilija. *Her pronunciation is perfect* (Molly) **The other girl shrugs* sounds silly. (Molly) It's not silly. It's like a special name. A magical name. (Molly) "Papa says you have to stop talking about magic, or people will think you're a godless heathen" Cecilly recites rather than understands the words. (Molly) **Molly shrugs at Morgan** I'm not supposed to speak to my imaginary friends anymore either, sorry. (Molly) **Cecily goes running off. Molly turns from Morgan and chases her, still demanding the return of the doll. They pass behind a hedge, even further from the house and the field being harvested, and certainly against their Mother's rules.* (Molly) **They're squabbling over this doll near the edge of the deep pond. He guesses it's at least six feet deep. Seeing it reminds him of the dream he had had about her house in Tawstock when she'd stayed as his mistress, and when She mentioned Cecily having drowned in the pond at Sunnymeade, and that she had had intense nightmares about it. (Molly) *In reality she seems to have no knowledge of how Cecily died, or the nightmares, only that she herself was given sleeping draughts from a young age that didn't work well. He finds himself stood nearby them despite not choosing to move* (Molly) An intense scuffle breaks out, one that sees the mermaid doll get accidentally flung several feet out into the pond. Both girls stare at it. "Oh damn!" Molly says, the curse word surprising to hear from such a young girl. (Molly) "Father will spank you if he hears you say that!" Cecily says. Molly shrugs "Peter ((Her oldest brother who must be 16 at this point)) says it. Not fair if there's different rules for boys" * Morgan frowns (Molly) **Molly turns to glance at Morgan* Sorry I said a bad word. That's my doll in the water. * Morgan nods (Molly) **Cecily goes to the edge** Maybe I can reach her… (Molly) ** Molly goes over too** Hold my legs, then we can both reach her together (Molly) *Cecilly lays down on the grass* Your arms are too short, only big girls can do this, not babies. (Molly) *Molly pouts, looking up at Morgan* I am not a baby, I am a big girl, and I don't have to do what I am told, ever! (Morgan) You probably should (Molly) **Molly nids, but also lies down on the grass. Competitively, they try to reach for the doll. Cecily is a little closer, but Molly develops that look of determination he knows well, and stretches harder. Cecily says "Stop, you'll fall in. Just do what you are told and stay safe!" Cecily's fingers graze the doll's leg. Molly huffs as she stands up, hands on her hips. She glances at Morgan with obvious frustration. (Molly) **What causes her head to whip round is the splash as her sister falls in, sinking beneath the surface and pulling the doll down in her wake. To him, it looks like there's something in the water, almost like the water itself grabs the child and pulls her down. Molly screams, and drops to the grass, reaching to the water, frantically calling her sister's name. * Morgan nods, dismayed, moving closer (Molly) **For a moment, it looks like Molly herself will accidentally follow her sibling in. (Molly) He hears a noise, like a whispering of multiple voices. He knows it. It is the Mind of the Mines. (Molly) A sharp rock, which he knows was not there a moment ago, pushes up out of the ground, ripping through the skirt of her yellow dress and snagging it, providing an anchor that undoubtedly saves her life. (Molly) The other girl surfaces face down in the middle of the pond, lifeless, her hair floating on the water. It looks much darker, almost as dark as Molly's own. (Molly) Molly stands up, looking on in horror, and she screams loudly "PAPA, HELP!", over and over whilst sobbing. And she suddenly jolts beside him in bed, waking him. * Morgan waits, watching her * Molly just changes position * Morgan tries to get an idea of what she's got going on in her head * Molly is thinking, drowsily, how her calf has cramped and how its lucky she hasn't disturbed him. She doesn't seem at all troubled or even aware of what she was dreaming * Morgan nods, checking the time (Molly) **it's around three oclock * Morgan sighs, climbing out of bed (Molly) **Its really quite cold, the fire completely out * Morgan pulls on some clothes before heading down to the kitchen (Molly) **he can hear the movement of the mice before he spots the first one * Morgan sets to making coffee, speaking quietly (Morgan) listen, chaps, you're going to have to find somewhere else to call home (Molly) **One darts towards the cup, then stands on its hind legs to look in it (Morgan) Touch my coffee and I'll squash you flat (Molly) ** it looks up at him (Molly) *after an awkwardly long stare, it disappears down a small hole on the wall (Morgan) Good choice * Morgan finishes making his coffee before getting out some paper and drawing implements (Molly) **he finds some in the library where there's also whiskey in a decanter and a fire waiting to be lit. The rain is heavy outside * Morgan barely glances at the fire before moving to pour some whiskey (Molly) **its perfectly lit straight away. The library has a smattering of furniture, a solid wing chair with a high slanted table beside it, probably used for doing accounts at the fireside, but very good for sketching too * Morgan nods to himself, going and getting setup at it (Molly) **it is very comfortable, and the consistent background noise of flame and downpour make it easy to slip into his artistic skills. The whiskey does little to take the edge off the sad task of creating the image of his late sister in law, a little girl who had not much more of the life she ought to have had than Jana did. * Morgan murmers to himself as he draws (Morgan) I wonder what my friends of a diminutive stature would have to say about that... they could easily have saved them both... (Molly) **nothing and noone answers him (Morgan) Something I'll take up with them I fancy (Molly) **the charcoal and pencils he uses are good quality, it seems one of the house's previous occupants must have liked drawing. They blend and sharpen nicely as he puts her image to paper, almost able to imagine how she would have grown into the twenty two year old woman she should now be. The repetition of shading, the natural melodies, and the whiskey start to make his head and fingers feel heavy, and he guesses it is around four thirty * Morgan stops, stretching in the chair (Molly) **his drawing is as good as finished, barring another few minutes of shading here and there * Morgan takes a mouthful of coffee before resuming it (Molly) **Shortly it is completely finished. There's a deep tiredness that steals through him now that this is completed * Morgan goes in search of a couch to sleep on (Molly) **There's a nice velvety chaise a little further from the fire, and a blanket over the back of it. With a quick extinguishing glance to the fire, sleep lays over him like an extra, heavier blanket (Molly) **It was a camp much like many others he'd sat beside a fire at. He's weary. Rescuing HH from Dietmund was a closer call than he had wanted, and he hadn't felt particularly safe from followers until they were fully off the island, crossing the tidal crossing at Wassermeer to the mainland. (Molly) Only once they got to this Objectionist camp at Jöhstadt ready to meet up with the Enchiridon did he feel enough safety to relax a little. Still August, just. Still warm even at night, though September was coming. Today had been Dietlinde's birthday, and he'd barely had time to think of anything as nice as her. He stretches out his back, settling with his ale to do that. (Molly) Beside him, HH is talking. He's talked most of the way since they left Insel. Morgan's only reprieve was when HH was debriefed. Now the chatter is interrupting his thinking, as is the music. (Molly) HH: Thought that vicar was going to turn us o'er his knee, grumpy old bugger. ** You're now known as HH (Morgan) Because you wouldn't stop talkin'? * HH swigs from a tankard (HH) No, just 'ad a sour sorta face. (Morgan) Thats vicaring for yer (HH) Reckon Edward will do that one da- **HH abruptly stops talking, and gets distracted by one of the followers of the drum standing up to sing (HH) Well now… * Morgan looks over, taking a mouthful of ale (HH) **She's young, perhaps fifteen, though there are camp followers even younger. She's not yet got that tired, harrowed look, as if this is still an adventure. She has a certain childlike liveliness to her, and her dress is a little dirty but far from the rags the others wear. And she has long, unbound, dark red hair** (HH) **HH is staring, as are several other young uniformed men sat around drinking and chatting, many with camp followers on their laps or under their arms** (Morgan) You need to stop letting your loins do yer thinkin' (HH) It's not my loins... (Morgan) your chin on the floor says otherwise (HH) **She begins to sing a song, something not outright coarse, but really quite rude. Something about a weary soldier and a maid. She sings the verses, and the men join her for the chorus. It's not just the singing that has the attention, but the way in which the suggestiveness of the lyrics plays on her expression that has them all watching.** (HH) Maybe you should lighten up fer once. (Morgan) tried it once, you took the opportunity to nick my beer (HH) Gotta share wi' the less forchunate (HH) **HH tilts his head towards one very obviously smitten young man with blonde hair. He's clapping along and grinning at her, and she glances at him frequently. Morgan hasn't seen him before** You know him? * Morgan shakes his head (Morgan) why don't you go let him catch you so we can find out who he is (HH) Catch me what? * Morgan smiles slightly, shrugging (Morgan) no, never seen 'im afore * HH continues watching (HH) Something going on 'tween them, y' reckon? (Morgan) 'e certainly hopes so (HH) **The song gets even rude, with the verses "She's made her bed both broad and long (HH) She's made it like a lady (HH) She's taken her nitegown over her head (HH) Saying soldier are you ready (HH) He's taken off his belted coat (HH) Likewise his hat and feather (HH) He's leaned his sword against the door (HH) And now he's down aside her" * HH starts chuckling, watching Morgan from the corner of his eye (Morgan) You lose something over here? (HH) Waitin' for you to get like yer Father * Morgan shrugs (HH) **The others join the chorus, and then there are more verses that tell the tale of how the maid ends up with child and the soldier abandons her to go off to war * HH pats his arm, standing up from the log they're sat on (HH) I'll be back * Morgan nods, swirling his ale * HH saunters over to her, immediately turning on the full charm as soon as she's finished the song. He looks very earnest, and she smiles warmly. Soon she's blushing and giggling, and glances at Morgan which is where HH is gesturing. * Morgan watches them (Morgan) Dont... don't be doing what I think you're doing * HH offers her his arm, and she takes it. The blond man who was so enthusiastic looks a little put out, but says nothing. HH leads her in his direction, still making her laugh and flush (HH) **she looks at Morgan with the slightest of frowns, like she's trying to figure out where she knows him from. There is something vaguely familiar about her, but it's not at all clear to him what it could be* * Morgan stands up as they approach * HH gives Morgan a big grin (HH) I told you I could get over my shyness to speak to her! (Morgan) Did you? I didn't hear you, was a bit busy listening to your new friend sing (HH) **Molly watches him. Her accent is very Avalonian sounding** Everyone joined in... was it alright? (Morgan) it was wonderful (HH) **She blushes* Thank you. **she watches him* I'm sorry, is it possible I know you from somewhere? (Morgan) I was thinking the same... * HH is watching between the two of them, and starting to look a little put out that Morgan is the centre of her attention (HH) M: *she looks so sweetly puzzled* I've barely been in Eisen a few months, so it seems unlikely we have met... and yet... (Morgan) I've been in Avalon a few times... my family have land in Catterick (HH) M: My mother's family are from the north, but I have never been there. *she smiles warmly* A past life, perhaps? * Morgan shrugs (Morgan) maybe (HH) M: **she is still staring at him whilst Heinzharold makes some introductions, using only first names* (HH) HH; Morgan, this is Molly. Molly, this is Morgan * Morgan bows his head (HH) **Molly gives him a small curtsey* I... I think I should be getting back. It was nice to meet you both (Morgan) likewise * HH leads her back over to where she was, and then heads back to Morgan. The blonde man is immediately back to her side even before HH gets to Morgan. He's obviously teasing her but she doesn't seem to mind it, laughing. By the time HH is back, this man has his hand on the small of her back and is whispering in her ear. HH flops down on the log (HH) Ah well, win some lose some. (Morgan) bit weird (HH) *he swigs his ale* Not e'ery day they're more interested in you th'n me though. (Morgan) to be fair, that _was_ unusual (HH) **Across the open space, even with the man's hand skirting down towards her hip, she glances back at Morgan a final time (HH) Forever t' be known as The One That Got Away, eh? (Morgan) maybe... * HH glances at him (HH) You liked her? (Morgan) I'm not blind * HH grins (HH) We could tie 'im up an' you could go and woo her. (Morgan) tie him up, I'll just barge him out the way * HH laughs (HH) Tha' would be hilarious (Morgan) well, I am quite funny (HH) Funny in the 'ead (Morgan) comes from knowing you (HH) Shoulda made you a ladies man too, shouldn' it? (Morgan) who says I'm not? * HH laughs rawkously (HH) Just abouts e'ery woman we've met 'cept that one (Morgan) Thats what they tell _you_ so you don't feel so bad * HH laughs again (HH) Watch what they do, no' what they say. Don' see you o'er there kissin' that lassie (Morgan) No, because I'm trying to show you that I'm considerate to your gentle feelings.... * HH snorts (HH) Saves you gettin' a slap from 'er (Morgan) I don't think I would (HH) I have five guilders say ya would. * Morgan nods, finishing his ale * HH does likewise * Morgan nods, heading towards Molly (HH) **She's now talking to another woman, laughing. The other man is off with a group of other tipsy young men* * Morgan gets close enough to be heard (Morgan) excuse me... * HH comes along with him (HH) **Molly turns from the woman, looking intrigued** Yes? (Morgan) I was hoping we could continue our conversation, get to know eachother... again... (HH) **Molly nods a moment* Alright *she glances over at the other man before looking back to Morgan* (Morgan) I'm not taking you away from your gentleman friend? (HH) *She shakes her head slowly* No... no. It's fine. * Morgan offers his arm (HH) **She calls to the other man "Seb, I'll be back soon". He doesn't look impressed, but nods. (HH) **she takes his arm, squeezing it** shall we? * Morgan nods, leading her away * HH is hovering, but at a distance. It's not too far to be on the edge of the encampment where there are still stars to be seen not obscured by firelight ** You're now known as Molly (Molly) About Seb... it's complicated. (Morgan) oh? How so? (Molly) It's a long story. But this is how things are in the war, complicated entanglements. And you? Do you have a wife at home? * Morgan shakes his head (Morgan) no, I have not had any arrangements made * Molly nods (Molly) That must make it easier, when you are moving around, a night here, a night there? *she looks up at him* (Morgan) I thought so until recently * Molly smiles, vaguely confused (Molly) What changed? (Morgan) well, I met you... * Molly smiles, blushing (Molly) And now...? (Morgan) safe to say I am revising my thoughts on it * Molly bites her lip (Molly) The War being what it is, sometimes there is only the promise of the present moment (Morgan) Thats true... * Molly smiles a little "I would ask whether you say such things to all the young women you meet like this, but something tells me you would never toy with a woman that way..." (Molly) [17:57] * Molly smiles a little "I would ask whether you say such things to all the young women you meet like this, but something tells me you would never toy with a woman that way..." (@Morgan) No, that is a fair assessment * Molly fishes out a small flask from between her breasts, offering it to him (Molly) Have you recalled where we may have met? * @Morgan takes it, thanking her before sipping it and handing it back (@Morgan) No, not at all (Molly) **The metal is hot from her skin, and the taste is scotch mixed with honey (Molly) Nor I. Is it possible, do you think, for two people to be destined to meet, despite the unlikihood of it happening? * @Morgan shrugs (@Morgan) I can't say I've ever thought about it * Molly takes the smallest sip before pushing it back into her cleavage (Molly) This isn't your unit, is it? I would have seen you by now (@Morgan) No, its not (Molly) So you may disappear at any time, like a beautiful leaf blown on the breeze? (@Morgan) well, like a leaf in the breeze at any rate * Molly smiles (Molly) Where will you go then? * @Morgan shrugs (@Morgan) wherever I'm told * Molly nods (Molly) As we all do, I suppose * @Morgan nods (@Morgan) indeed * Molly glances up at the stars (Molly) And tonight? Where will you be tonight? * @Morgan shrugs (@Morgan) Im' rather enjoying being with you to not be thinking about where I will be later * Molly smiles, taking his hand (Molly) Then let's be here, for now. * @Morgan nods * Molly seems content with this, standing quietly. Then a star shoots across the sky. She says quietly (Molly) Now you must make a wish * @Morgan nods (@Morgan) done * Molly glances back to him (Molly) What did you wish? (@Morgan) if I tell you it won't come true (Molly) Perhaps, but it will satisfy my curiosity... * @Morgan shrugs (@Morgan) I wished I could kiss you * Molly looks surprised, smiling (Molly) You spent a wish upon something you could have anyway... (@Morgan) oh? * Molly nods, saying nothing (@Morgan) I need but ask? (Molly) You need but _do_ * @Morgan pulls her closer (@Morgan) I would not wish to impose myself if it was not wanted * Molly smiles, looking at ease (Molly) Impose away then * @Morgan presses his lips to hers * Molly copies his pressure. She doesn't seem unfamiliar with this, and nor is he, though his experience back in March and April with the seamstresses assistant was not much more than this * @Morgan increases his pressure, licking her bottom lip briefly * Molly squeezes his hand, tightening her fingers as her lips part against his * @Morgan pulls away (@Morgan) Did you make a wish? (Molly) I was saving it for a later moment * @Morgan nods (Molly) But now seems like a good moment to me... * Molly smiles, stroking her thumb over his knuckles * @Morgan watches her (Molly) So now, I wish _I_ could kiss _you_. * @Morgan smiles (@Morgan) wish granted * Molly wastes no time at all in stretching up to kiss him, albeit with more clumsiness than finesse as she tries to account for his height. But soon their lips are together again, and she tilts the soft heat of her mouth to better fit his, her tongue making a teasing foray into his mouth and against his own * @Morgan matches her * Molly leans a little more into him, her pace becoming a little more demanding, then there's suddenly a loud noise from behind them * @Morgan pulls away, looking behind him (Molly) "Koertig, Heinzharold!" *the voice sounds older, commanding, but its owner isnt in sight* "Boat's here to row you out to the Enchiridon. Get your kit." * Molly sighs, squeezing his hand (@Morgan) that'll be me (Molly) That is where you will be spending the night then * @Morgan nods (Molly) **Theres a familiar multi-tone whistle, Heinzharold trying to call Morgan to him* (Molly) I'll walk back with you, if you like...? (@Morgan) I'd like that * Molly looks at his mouth with a lingering want, then smiles a little (Molly) Best not dally * @Morgan nods sadly (@Morgan) shall we then? (Molly) **They're soon back to the edge of the camp where HH and the blonde man she called Seb are stood together chatting and keeping a watch from a fair distance. (Molly) Do you think we will meet again someday? (@Morgan) I very much hope so (@Morgan) though I doubt your friend will like that idea at all (Molly) Until we do, perhaps before you make a wish on any shooting star, you'll spare a thought for tonight, and how we had our wishes for kisses? And even if never see each other again? (Molly) We* (@Morgan) I think it'll stay with me, aye (@Morgan) shooting stars, quiet moments, they'll all be filled with that thought * Molly squeezes his hand "I will think of you often and fondly" (@Morgan) until we meet again... * Molly nods "I didn't think love at first sight existed, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I think myself at least half way there" * @Morgan nods (@Morgan) I appear to be approaching that point from the other side * Molly looks confused, and HH is trying to get his attention with gestures (Molly) I don't understand what you mean? (@Morgan) that I'm about halfway there myself * @Morgan looks over at HeinzHarold (Molly) HH: *he gestures $did you kiss her?$ (@Morgan) $you owe me money$ (Molly) HH: *he talks to the man known as Seb, holding out his hand* Told ya (Molly) **Seb puts five coins in HH's hand. He looks faintly annoyed rather than outright hostile** * Molly glances at Morgan "what do you think that is that about?" (@Morgan) I think he bet on whether or not we kissed... * Molly smiles "If I had known there was money to be made from it..." Theres a single chiming noise, and it makes him recognise that he is dreaming** * @Morgan nods, smiling (@Morgan) until we meet again... (Molly) Maybe we will... that depends on fate... (@Morgan) I have a feeling we will (Molly) **Seb offers Molly his arm, will a cool glance at Morgan** Come on, Mol. * Molly brings Morgan's knuckles to her mouth and kisses them before letting go of his hand "goodbye, for now" * @Morgan bows his head (@Morgan) for now * Molly goes to Seb, and he wraps an arm around her waist. He inclines his head to Morgan and HH before leading her away. HH looks at Morgan "Unlucky." ** You're now known as HH -NickServ- Welcome to Blitzed IRC Network, HH!
