(Molly) Adalbrecht looks as ready for a nap as Varick, obviously tired from being ordered out of bed so early. Edward excuses himself, leaving Morgan to take Varick for his nap whilst Molly goes to get tea from Cook.

(Molly) Perhaps he should stop being a captain, or even aboard a ship at all, out at sea...
(@Morgan) The look on Karlsruhe's face, that wouldn't really surprise me
(Molly) Good. It would be well-deserved

(Molly) So, I got Varick to bed with very minimal tears, and then got dressed for dinner. I was nervous, and very apprehensive.

(Molly) Dinner was just Edward, your Father and I, and we mostly planned out our day in the City. By the time dinner ended, I was keen just to get it over and done with. I told your Father I needed to speak with Edward, and we retired to the drawing room for cards and what I intended to be a sizeable amount of brandy

(Molly) I was nervous, liebling. I wanted to be relaxed enough not to be on edge with him

(Molly) However,  Edward told me after the first that I would be drinking no more than three, so I would need to pace myself *she smiles a little*
(@Morgan) He took his responsibility to look after you very seriously
(Molly) Yes he did, very much so
(Molly) We just played cards a little while at first, breaking the ice. He's very good. He also knows that the key to breaking my poker face is to get me thinking of you.

(Molly) Yes it did. And it helped me understand more about the reactions of the nobility  and what he did to try to fix it.

(Molly) It helped me understand why he seemed so horrified about the annexation of Karlsruhe too

(Molly) An odd coincidence to have run into the man, but I learnt that the story of the annexation of Karlsruhe hit Court at the same time the news of your marriage and the immediate annexation plots for Sudlachenburg were whispered about did

(Molly) For Edward, this made the threat seem more imminent, more likely. He had nightmares about what happened to Freiarrin Karlsruhe happening to your Mother

(Molly) We talked about what could have been done differently,  and why it would not have really made any difference, but as you can probably understand, I did not wish to linger on this desire to turn back time, and I explained to him as I had your Father why it is a very conflicting  thing to me

(Molly) I did not know he knew the circumstances of my birth...
(@Morgan) He discovered it before coming to the Eisenfursts estate. He was not pleased with me

(Molly) That he was troubled about the impact, that he was surprised to learn that about me, that he was surprised you had chosen to marry me despite it. He had questions about why you did not just have me as a mistress

(Molly) He has come to the conclusion that I acquit myself well enough with the nobility as to not raise suspicion that I was not always a gentleman's daughter at the very least

(Molly) By that point, I had long drunk the last of my brandy, and Edward had done the Eisen thing of challenging my thinking and leaving me asking myself questions, and I may have cried a little, to which he was very kind, and then we called it a night because I had invited them to accompany Varick and I on our mission to church

(@Morgan) he and I are progressing and your hating him would not help that in the long term

(@Morgan) When he thought Faulk had wanted you as his mistress... its not uncommon and there would be no way for me to prevent it without harming Sudlachenburg badly... Hainzl would have no hesitation to demand you as a mistress if he was taken with you.

(@Morgan) I know... and I'd damage Sudlachenburg by stopping it. So he's counselled you be less amenable to them so that they will not want to exercise what they believe to be their right
(MollyK) I fail to see any risk of an _Eisenfurst_ wanting me as a mistress
