(@Morgan) [3:45pm] <@Morgan> he's such a sap
(@Morgan) [3:46pm] I think it's in the blood
(@Morgan) [3:46pm] * Molly smirks
* @Morgan shrugs
(@Morgan) probably
(Molly) You didn't take the opportunity to win because you didn't want to cut the tattoo your brother had for the woman he loved
* @Morgan shrugs
(@Morgan) I knew there'd be another opportunity
(Molly) Most wouldn't have been so considerate
(@Morgan) I'm not most...
* Molly arrives at the door
(Molly) No, liebes herz, you really are something special
* @Morgan opens the door
(Molly) **it is packed. Adalbrecht spots them*
(Molly) Ad: Ah, there is our Veisgraf and Veisgrafin! *Molly blushes, looking to Morgan*
(Molly) **Everyone turns to look*
(Molly) Ad: *he looks to them* Come here please
* @Morgan starts moving toward his father
(@Morgan) I used to hear that a lot
* Molly follows closely
(Molly) Are we in trouble?
(@Morgan) well... I used to hear it a lot just after Grunhelm had delivered me home...
(Molly) *Ad is stood facing the crowd, HH&inga near him*
* Molly nods, and goes to stand near the Graf
(Molly) Ad: You too please Varick
* Molly frowns briefly then smiles at the young boy as he comes to her nervously. She lays a hand on his head, casting a glance at Morgan
* @Morgan stands on the other side of Varick, watching his father
(Molly) Ad *he addresses the crowd* I know many of you have family in Innesbruck and are aware of the conditions there. The stewardship of Innesbruck and Koln is now the Veisgraf's. In addition, the courts have decided that Lady Eldreich will no longer be responsible for the young Baron, and therefore Morgan and Molly have adopted him. *Everyone claps and cheers*
(Molly) *Varick beams with pride and Molly smiles fondly*
(Molly) Ad: In terms of Sudlachenburg, that means that until a child is born of their union, Varick will be next in line after Morgan.
* @Morgan glances round
(Molly) *people look pleased. Edward looks both surprised and relieved*
(Molly) Ad: Therefore, as it's important to me to protect our line of succession, I'm asking you ((plural)) to go with my son and grandson to ensure their safety whilst they're travelling abroad
(Molly) *he addresses HH and Inga*
* @Morgan looks at HeinzHarold, watching his expression
* Molly and Inga grin at each other
(Morgan) *HH looks momentarily confused before smiling* As my lord wishes
(Molly) Ad: *he nods* very good. *he looks to the crowd* now, eat and drink as you please, it's on me! *everyone cheers and soon attention turns to the festivities*
** You're now known as Adalbrecht
* Adalbrecht comes to Morgan
(Adalbrecht) Were you planning on scolding me for this announcement also?
(Morgan) Only insomuch as you'd said you couldn't spare him
* Adalbrecht smiles, lighting a cigar
(Adalbrecht) It wouldn't have been a surprise otherwise
* Morgan rolls his eyes
* Adalbrecht looks at Molly and Inga who are talking excitedly
(Adalbrecht) They seem pleased at least
* Morgan nods
(Morgan) she's missed Inga greatly
(Adalbrecht) They are very close. She'll need feminine company on a ship full of men
* Morgan nods
(Morgan) plus it'll get her out of Edwards attention
* Adalbrecht watches his eldest
(Adalbrecht) Is there trouble?
(Morgan) She comes from one of the places on Edwards list...
* Adalbrecht nods slowly
(Adalbrecht) Yes. I'd forgotten that.
(Adalbrecht) *Molly leaves Inga's side to speak to the villagers, going around to include people, being a charming Veisgrafin. Varick goes along with her. She looks relaxed.
(Adalbrecht) You spoke to him about Mina?
* Morgan nods
(Morgan) Its very complicated
* Adalbrecht frowns
(Adalbrecht) How is it complicated?
(Morgan) They have an arrangement.
* Adalbrecht motions to a quiet corner, waiting for him to follow
* Morgan follows
(Adalbrecht) What sort of arrangement?
* Morgan looks at his father like he's stupid
* Adalbrecht watches him with paternal patience
(Morgan) They could sleep with others providing certain rules were followed.
* Adalbrecht looks surprised
(Adalbrecht) So she wouldn't call off an engagement for his liasons?
* Morgan shakes his head
* Adalbrecht frowns deeply, looking distracted. Then he snaps back to reality.
(Adalbrecht) What do you intend?
(Morgan) verify or disprove the list, then act accordingly
* Adalbrecht nods
(Adalbrecht) Alright *he spots Verity watching him* Anything else you want to tell me?
* Morgan shrugs
* Adalbrecht nods and excuses himself. The man who won the archery approaches. He's somewhat nondescript. Morgan recalls his name is Moritz
** You're now known as Moritz
(Moritz) Congratulations on your win, my Lord
(Morgan) Likewise Moritz
* Moritz looks around
(Moritz) I wanted to speak to you, if I can, my Lord
* Morgan nods
(Morgan) of course
** Morgan has said your nick on Morgan
(Moritz) I was sent out towards the South Road to check the mud your horse slipped a shoe in
* Morgan nods
(Morgan) and?
(Moritz) I was told to report back anything significant. It didn't seem significant at the time, but it's been playing on my mind
(Morgan) go on...
(Moritz) It seemed to have a lot of spider's web in it. It was quite strong stuff
(Morgan) spiders web...
* Moritz nods
(Moritz) I know, it makes no sense
(Morgan) were there any spiders?
(Moritz) Not that I could see. There wasn't much wildlife at all, come to think of it. It was eerily quiet.
* Morgan nods slowly
(Morgan) anything else stand out?
(Moritz) No, just that really, my Lord
* Morgan nods
(Morgan) thank you Moritz
(Moritz) You're welcome, my Lord *he bows, leaving Morgan to it*
(Moritz) **The party atmosphere continues, everyone keen to see the couple and eat the free food, especially Varick who is back with his adoptive grandparents*
(Molly) **He stands there brooding about the cobweb in the mud, and the journey he's undertaking in that direction on the morrow**
(Molly) **loud laughter from HeinzHarold breaks him out of his troubled imagination*
* @Morgan glances around
(Molly) *he notices Edward quietly leave by a side door*
* @Morgan frowns, considering following him
(Molly) *he notices he can't see his wife anywhere*
* @Morgan sets about trying to find her
(Molly) *Noone has any idea*
* @Morgan goes looking for her
(Molly) **he ends up following Edward. Edward is stood not far from the door. He's looking through a window into the inn stable.
* @Morgan watches him for a moment
** You're now known as Edward
* Edward can see through the window catty-corner, and out into the space for the archery. Molly is out there alone, and lifts a bow. She has no arrow, but pulls gently to feel the tension.
* @Morgan watches them both
* Edward looks around as if sensing his presence. He's frowning.
(Edward) Does she often disappear off like this?
(@Morgan) Now and then, usually when she has something on her mind
(Edward) It's not very safe.
(@Morgan) she's safer than you'd think
(Edward) **Molly next picks up and examines an arrow*
(@Morgan) providing of course she's better with a bow than I am
(Edward) No-one would be fool enough to attack the Veisgrafin?
* Edward smiles slightly
(@Morgan) Noone who knows of my reputation, no... aside from that, I taught her to fight
(Edward) You taught a Lady to fight? *he frowns slightly again*
(@Morgan) I'll do whatever I see as necessary to protect those I love. Besides, she and I have both faced some rather dangerous situations
* Edward nods slowly
(Edward) So she will be safe as long as she took her archery tutelage under someone else?
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) sounds about right.
(Edward) Is she competent?
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) fairly
* Edward goes quiet. Molly joins the arrow and bow, taking a quick glance around. She's unable to see them. She goes to the marker and copies exactly what she saw the archers do. Her position is very good, and her arrow hits two inches above the bulls eye
* Edward makes a noise of surprise
(Edward) I'm impressed
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) beginners luck perhaps
(Edward) **Her next arrow is an inch closer. She smiles to herself*
(Edward) She's never tried archery before?
* @Morgan shakes his head
(Edward) She's good. I had two month's of lessons before I could do as well as that
* @Morgan smiles slightly
(@Morgan) I've had more than that and I still cant do that
(Edward) *Molly's third loose hits perfectly in the centre of the target. She removes the arrows and sets down the bow, brushing the dust off her hands.
(Edward) At least one of you can. Between you, you could be good at everything. *He smiles*
* @Morgan nods
(Edward) *Molly heads in their direction*
** You're now known as Molly
* Molly comes back in quietly, scanning the room to check her absence wasn’t noticed
* Molly looks in his direction
* @Morgan smiles slightly
* Molly smiles warmly, coming to him
(Molly) Are you well, liebling?
(@Morgan) I've been worse blossom. you?
(Molly) Yes, quite well. It's a very busy party!
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) I couldn't find you
* Molly looks a little neutral
(Molly) I went outside
* @Morgan raises an eyebrow
* Molly blushes
(Molly) I thought I'd take a look at the bows
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) how'd you find them?
* Molly smiles
(Molly) Oh, it was easy, they were exactly where the archers left them
* @Morgan chuckles
(Molly) It was interesting to try
* @Morgan shrugs
(@Morgan) I think they're overrated
* Molly nods
(Molly) Not that useful a task to be good at
(@Morgan) it has its uses, I'll grant.
(Molly) Winning competitions?
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) hitting people with sharp objects at a distance... if you're not good at throwing things
* Molly nods
* Molly looks around
(Molly) I'm quite surprised Edward is so good
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) he's a lot better with a sword than before I left
(Molly) I did wonder if perhaps the archery issue was hereditary
(@Morgan) No, I'm just too clumsy
* Molly frowns
(Molly) I really do not understand it
(@Morgan) I've given up trying to
* Molly nods
(Molly) It isn't a skill you'll likely ever need
(@Morgan) given my throwing, no
* Molly smiles, looking at HH & Inga
(Molly) Are you pleased they're to join us?
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) very
(Molly) Me too

(Molly) **They end up speaking to different people for much of the time, Molly with Adalbrecht or her mother, Morgan with people wanting to discuss Innesbruck and the family they have there, though nothing significant is said. Around 7 o'clock, Adalbrecht approaches him. The party is heating up under the effect of free drink.
** You're now known as Adalbrecht
(Adalbrecht) Morgan
* @Morgan looks at his father
(Adalbrecht) Your mother, Martha, Varick and I are returning to Die Dauerhaftigkeit. I am leaving you the coach. Please keep an eye on your brother
(@Morgan) as you wish
* Adalbrecht smiles
(Adalbrecht) Have a good evening, Morgan
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) I'll do my best
* Adalbrecht nods, heading off
(Adalbrecht) ((Expression please))
* @Morgan watches the gathering, face neutral
* Molly comes to him with Inga and HH in tow
(Molly) Ah, there you are, liebling
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) aye, indeed I am here
(Molly) You are well?
* Molly smiles warmly
(@Morgan) mostly, aye. Yourself?
(Molly) Very, thank you. I thought you might wish to tell Inga and HeinzHarold about their honeymoon
(@Morgan) There's a nice little place with a private garden, and very welcoming staff... we thought you'd like it there
(Molly) **they smile at each other* I: That's very generous... Oh! Aren't we going to the ship in the morning?
(@Morgan) Thats a good point actually...
* Molly shrugs slightly
(Molly) We're going to be in Freiburg in about three weeks...
(@Morgan) you think swing by and pick them up then?
* Molly watches as the piano is pulled out and the crowd move to make space
(Molly) I thought they could get the ferry as we did and meet us there
(Molly) **Inga also watches the instrument being moved
* Molly looks back to Morgan
(Molly) Does that sound well to you?
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) fine with me
(Molly) Good. *she looks to Inga* are you ready? *The blonde nods nervously*
(Molly) If you'll excuse us, gentlemen.
* @Morgan nods
* Molly and Inga head to the piano. Everyone watches. Molly addresses them, her voice clear
(Molly) Ladies and gentlemen, before the Veisgraf and I went on our honeymoon, Inga and I wrote a song. We'd like to sing it for you, but it's been a long time since either of us have sung for so many, so I do hope you'll be gentle with us. *there is applause*
* Molly smiles at Inga and takes her seat. Her friend stands beside the piano, watching the crowd
(Molly) ((Expression for him and HH please))
* @Morgan and HH both look intrigued
* Molly begins to play "Forevermore". Her voice is strong and emotive. Inga provides the beautiful harmonies. ((You may want to review lyrics))
(Molly) **they finish to massive applause**
* @Morgan and HH join in the applause
* Molly and Inga slowly get through the crowd to their husbands. Inga looks happy, Molly looks a little unsure and embarrassed
* @Morgan grins at Molly
* Molly blushes harder, coming closer to him, not meeting his eyes
(Molly) It...it was a bit sentimental
(@Morgan) it was beautiful
* Molly bites her lower lip, looking up at him
(Molly) Thank you
* @Morgan smiles
(@Morgan) you're most welcome
(Molly) **someone begins to play lively music. She takes and squeezes his hand*
(Molly) It was just how I feel with you
* @Morgan blushes
* Molly smiles a litt
(Molly) Little*
(Molly) You did not realise?
* @Morgan shakes his head
(@Morgan) no
* Molly nods a little, quiet
(Molly) I hope that does not trouble you, though I can understand if it does
* @Morgan shakes his head
(@Morgan) no blossom.
(Molly) **people begin to form up to dance. Morgan immediately recognises the tune as a Polka, a fast, fun, but highly dizzying dance. After a grateful smile and hand squeeze, she turns her attention to the dancers, grinning as they perform the lively dance without reserve
(@Morgan) can you imagine what Maelwys would make of this?
* Molly nods animatedly
(Molly) He would adore it!
(@Morgan) you're probably right actually
* Molly looks at him sidelong
(Molly) Is _this_ why you don't dance?
(@Morgan) what?
(Molly) The Polka
(@Morgan) I'm not sure I understand what you mean
(Molly) You dislike dancing as it makes you feel dizzy. I wondered if this dance had put you off all dancing
* Molly smiles
* @Morgan shrugs
(@Morgan) I suppose its a contributing factor
* Molly smiles
(Molly) Have no fear, I won't ask you to dance it with me
(Molly) **Edward comes over at just that moment*
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) good
(@Morgan) I know I'm more laid back than I have been in a long time, but there are limits
(Molly) E: *he inclines his head to Molly* If my brother will not lead you out to dance, might I have the pleasure?
* Molly looks surprised, looking briefly at Morgan's expression
* @Morgan nods slightly
* Molly nods, smiling politely at Edward as she takes his arm. He dances a Polka with her, and though to begin with she appears tense, she's soon relaxed and enjoying herself. He doesn't see her for several dances as she gets propositioned by many different partners.
(Molly) **Claudia comes over to him
** You're now known as Claudia
(Claudia) Well that's two of the three of us firmly leg-shackled.
* @Morgan chuckles, nudging her
(@Morgan) maybe there's a man out there for you... obviously, a well trained, obedient one
* Claudia smiles slightly
(Claudia) Thank you, but no. All that raw messy emotion... No, I'd rather chop off my own head
* @Morgan makes a few motions with his arms before looking at her
(@Morgan) I think, logistically speaking, that'd be quite difficult
(Claudia) Less than it would be for me to get involved like that
* @Morgan shrugs
(@Morgan) the advantages make up for the drawbacks
* Claudia rolls her eyes
(Claudia) I don't want to know, thank you.
(@Morgan) Thats not what I was referring to and you know it
(Claudia) Love, companionship, support... Yadda yadda.
* Claudia smiles briefly
(Claudia) **The music changes**
(Claudia) Another drink?
* @Morgan nods, smiling
(@Morgan) go on then
* Claudia heads off to the far end of the bar. Pere, the leader of the new villagers comes to Morgan, congratulating him and thanking him for his hard work. A waltz draws in the majority of the people until the floor is packed with couples
* @Morgan speaks with Pere
(@Morgan) Its what needed to be done. I'm just sorry it took so long

(Molly) *Pere continues to talk. He's very engaging. Morgan suddenly notices the waltzing tune has stopped, long enough to see Molly whisper something to Edward then curtsey before heading towards Claudia. Pere continues to talk, effectively trapping Morgan with his own politeness*
* @Morgan watches Edward while half listening to Pere
(Molly) **He looks both pale and irritated. Blending in to the crowd, he's rapidly out of sight. The old man continues to talk about his plans for the future*
* @Morgan frowns slightly, before looking to Pere
(@Morgan) I'm sorry, would you excuse me for a moment?
(Molly) *he looks surprised* Oh! Oh yes, of course
(@Morgan) we'll continue the conversation shortly, I've just spotted someone I've been needing to speak to
(Molly) *he nods, smiling*
* @Morgan inclines his head, heading off towards where Edward disappeared
(Molly) **he manages to catch a glimpse enough of Edward's coat to see him exit. Edward has just mounted a horse when Morgan reaches the outside door.
(@Morgan) And where are you disappearing off to?
** You're now known as Edward
* Edward turns in the saddle, manner cool
(Edward) Home.
(@Morgan) Why?
(Edward) Because I want to. What business is it of yours?
(@Morgan) I decide what business is of interest, and right now its this
(Edward) Tough. *he kicks his horses flank, and the horse powers away*
* @Morgan contemplates following him and teaching him a lesson but instead goes back inside
** You're now known as Claudia
* Claudia is stood at the bar, surveying the room in a calm manner
* @Morgan heads to her
(@Morgan) Any idea where my wife went?
* Claudia looks very unexpressive
(Claudia) Yes.
(@Morgan) and that would be...
(Claudia) I'm not at liberty to say.
* @Morgan looks at Claudia
(@Morgan) say that again
* Claudia does, keeping eye contact
(@Morgan) and just why is that
(Claudia) Because she asked me to keep her location secret in return for this *she taps her arm where Molly healed her*
* @Morgan glares at her
(@Morgan) including from me?
(Claudia) From everyone. Unless there was an emergency. *she looks at him* Is this an emergency?
* @Morgan speaks quietly
(@Morgan) it may well end up in one
* Claudia looks uncommonly unsure of herself
(Claudia) I don't like to betray my word.
* @Morgan frowns
(@Morgan) fine, I'll find her myself
* Claudia nods
(Claudia) If _I_ were searching for a woman of faith who wanted to be alone, I know where I'd start
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) Understood
* @Morgan heads off to find his wife
(Claudia) *He crosses the town square. The sky is rapidly turning indigo, and as August approaches, it's earlier than it has been. The pinpricks of stars scattered overhead remind him of the easy peace and physical closeness they shared in the Golden Lantern's private garden. The village is deserted as he makes his way to the Church. (Mtf)
(Claudia) Once Vaticine, it was stripped and converted over a hundred years ago when the ruling Graf Abelard, husband of Lissey, heard the Objectionist teachings of Luther. The huge oak doors dominate the frontage* ((be noisy or sneak in))
* @Morgan pushes the door open quietly, entering
(Claudia) *The church is dark, illuminated only by moonlight through stained glass. Past the mahogany pews and down the aisle, his gaze finally falls upon his wife knelt by the altar. For only a fraction of a second, his mind registers the beautiful sketch the scene would make. With her head bowed, his wife is the picture of faith and deep prayer, her lips moving slightly in her communication with the Lord.* ((trying to read her?))
(@Morgan) ((nope))
* @Morgan walks quietly down the aisle, sitting quietly in the front pew
** You're now known as Molly
* Molly looks back to him, quickly wiping her tears. She rises, brushing dust from her skirt. Her voice is soft.
(Molly) She told you.
* @Morgan shakes his head
(@Morgan) It put her in a very uncomfortable position, mind
* Molly watches him
(Molly) I needed to be alone
(@Morgan) because?
* Molly looks back to the altar
(Molly) I do not wish to discuss it
(@Morgan) I do
* Molly fights not to put her hands on her hips, instead keeping her fingers interlocked
(Molly) Why? All that will happen is that the fragile peace between you will be damaged. I don't wish to be the one responsible for that.
(@Morgan) Ah, so its something with Edward then
* Molly frowns
(Molly) I assumed you already knew that
* @Morgan shrugs
(@Morgan) I imagined it might be
* Molly simply nods without speaking
(Molly) **the faintest hint of cheering can be heard from the tavern across the square*
(@Morgan) Its obviously something serious, which needs to be sorted out
* Molly does fold her arms now
(Molly) Not serious enough to warrant opening up the rift once more
(@Morgan) That'll be my decision to make
* Molly shakes her head
(Molly) Unless I bear it quietly
(@Morgan) You realise that'll not make it any better, since then I'll be displeased with you _and_ him
* Molly turns to look at him. She comes to sit on the top step, the physical distance between them only seven feet, the emotional much more. At eye height now, she watches him.
(Molly) Our friendship was always based on one tenet; that what we choose to tell each other, and not to tell, is just that. A choice.
* @Morgan stays quiet
* Molly watches him, allowing the silence to lengthen
(Molly) I keep silent for the good of all, to prevent the consequences
(@Morgan) And what if one of the consequences is a concern about my ability to trust your choices any longer?
* Molly looks wounded, and drops her gaze. Her voice is quieter
(Molly) So you force me to choose between love, and duty to Sudlachenburg and the Koertig good name?
(@Morgan) I dont force you. I just want you to be aware of the possible consequences of your actions
* Molly sighs heavily
(Molly) You hurt me by saying such
(@Morgan) That is not my intention. I want to be wrong about it, but its not something I can promise
(Molly) Intention or none, that acting for the good of everyone could remove something I hold so dear pains me more than I can say
(@Morgan) You believe it is for the good of everyone but you may be wrong in that assertion
(Molly) But if you truly trusted my choices, surely that can not be so?
* Molly looks serious
(@Morgan) but what if you agree with my fathers outlook on what is best for everyone, which in many believe incorrect
(Molly) I don't want to see you call him out for the insult to your wives, it would do no good
(@Morgan) I wont call him out... I'll just beat him up
* Molly wearily rubs her forehead, sighing at her slip
(Molly) And that will be explained to your father, your mother, how?
* @Morgan shrugs
(@Morgan) my actions are my own, and my father wouldn't be terribly surprised by it
* Molly watches him
(Molly) It is against my better judgement to tell you. But as your wife, what choice have I but to submit to your will when your love and respect are at stake?
(@Morgan) my love for you is not and will never be at stake
* Molly looks to the floor, a tear running down her cheek
(Molly) But your respect...
(@Morgan) respect isn't, either... its whether I can continue to trust you I'm concerned about
(Molly) You can trust me to protect that which I love
(Molly) Besides, more than his insults, my own response is shameful enough
(@Morgan) just tell me blossom
* Molly sighs, holding out her hands
(Molly) Alright
* @Morgan takes them immediately
* Molly takes a deep breath, and he sees the scene in his mind from hers
(Molly) *Edward holds her as close as the waltz dictates. She smiles, finally beginning to relax around her new brother-in-law who she has previously both feared and hated. He's a surprisingly good dancer even when his attention is fully on her.
(Molly) E: I must say, I'm impressed.
(Molly) M: Oh? With the wedding?
(Molly) E: No, with you. Morgan has made a good choice- *there is a pause, and in his expression '-this time.' can be read. Though usually she'd be flattered, she feels only irritation*
(Molly) M: Thank you.
(Molly) *he smiles at her*
(Molly) E: I'm glad he's not been swayed by looks this time *Molly's irritation becomes a Montaigne curse in her thoughts. He lowers his head as if speaking confidentially* His first wife was very beautiful, gentle and kind. But she didn't have your spark and vivacity. I am glad he's prioritised a gentile upbringing, the skills and knowledge of how to act as a good Veisgrafin should, and a _desire_ to be the Veisgrafin. You clearly value the Family's honour and reputation. Things have turned out for the best.
(Molly) *He looks pleased with his flattery. Her smile remains forced, her eyes flat and cool. She is livid, barely keeping her cool.*
(Molly) M: I see you feel you are well acquainted with all my charms _and_ inferiorities on an acquaintance of less than a day.
(Molly) *He looks a little unsure, and goes to interrupt. She gives him no opportunity, continuing to very quietly berate him. There is no outward sign of this conflict. To any viewer, they merely seem utterly focused on each other. Were they not now related, such intensity would raise eyebrows and nudging elbows*
(Molly) M: Let me enlighten you further. The late Lady you speak of is very dear to me, as is the girl who would be my stepdaughter. We are family, after a fashion. Had she not been killed, and were we living in a different culture, we would be sister-wives. Even ignoring the insult you give me personally in regards to my ineffective appearance, you insult my Kin. I _do_ greatly value the name I have been given, and I uphold its reputation and honour with each breath. This is why I am not calling you out, deserved as it is.
(Molly) *He looks shocked now. She leans in, shielding this expression from general view, and whispers in his ear.*
(Molly) M: And if I hadn't once made my husband a promise never to injure you, I'd be very tempted to push the tip of my concealed dagger into your cold, black heart.
(Molly) *She steps back as the music ends, curtseying to him deeply, not removing her icy blue eyes from his. She turns on her heel with a swish of her skirts. She burns with fury as she struggles with a facade of grace. She manages a few smiles here and there before she reaches Claudia. She moves to catch Claudia's eye.
* Molly let's go of his hands, severing the connection
* @Morgan nods
(@Morgan) I appear to have a brother who, despite his charm, is a bona fide moron
(Molly) **The main door opens, and Claudia enters with a loud cough*
* Molly frowns deeply
(Molly) C: There's a man here who says the Graf wants you to go to his study immediately
(@Morgan) who is it?
* Molly mutters a Montaigne word he doesn't recognise
(Molly) A servant of yours from Innesbruck he says
(@Morgan) name?
(Molly) C: He didn't give it.
* @Morgan turns to look at Claudia
(@Morgan) then ask for it
* Molly looks to Morgan
(Molly) Our future captain was due today. *she looks to Claudia* Does he have an accent? In his late forties? *she nods*
* Molly stands
(Molly) If you're ready, my Lord? *she looks a little sad as she doesn't use his usual pet name*
* @Morgan sighs, standing up

* Molly follows Claudia out. The tension in her remains. Sorgi waits near the tavern with two horses. With a very brief greeting he saddles up after helping Molly up behind Morgan. She holds firmly enough not to fall off, but maintains a distance between her body and his back.
(Molly) *Soon they're but a few steps from Adalbrecht's door*
(Molly) Let the berating begin *she says quietly*
* @Morgan sniffs
(@Morgan) not today
* Molly knocks. Adalbrecht opens the door, gesturing them into the candlelit study where Sudlachenburg's second son waits with a scowl and hands in his pockets
(Molly) A: Come in, both of you.
* @Morgan moves inside the room
* Molly locks the door behind them and goes to stand behind his desk, Edward facing him to the left hand side. Molly draws back her shoulders and stands to the right. Adalbrecht looks at her and her husband.
(Molly) A: *he looks stern but not angry* Molly, did you threaten Edward?
* Molly looks briefly at Morgan, then back to the Graf
(Molly) Not entirely, no.
(Molly) A: *he looks to Morgan as if expecting an explanation*
* @Morgan watches his father quietly
(Molly) A: What was said? *he clearly gets fed up of waiting on Morgan looks to Edward*
(Molly) ((Giving you chance to interrupt))
* @Morgan turns to look at Edward
(Molly) E: *he looks angry* She threatened to stab me in the heart!
(Molly) A: *he frowns* That sounds unlikely Edward.
* Molly blushes, looking to the floor
(@Morgan) It does sound a bit... vague...
(Molly) A: *he looks at her* It cannot be true.
(Molly) E: *he looks livid* On my honour, that is what she threatened!
* @Morgan speaks quietly
(@Morgan) your honour...
(Molly) E: *he looks to Morgan* You have something to say?
(@Morgan) I merely note that its been called into question before
(Molly) A: *he looks at his sons with calm watchful eyes before looking to Molly* Molly, did you threaten to stab him in the heart?
* Molly looks up, ignoring the way Edward glares at Morgan, speaking quietly but solemnly
(Molly) I did not _threaten_ him...*Adalbrecht looks pleased, but she continues* ...but I did tell him that I would, were it not for a promise I made a year ago, push my dagger into his cold black heart. *Adalbrecht looks shocked. Edward looks triumphant. Molly wears the studied neutral expression she learned from her time with Jaeger. The men turn their attention to Morgan*
(Molly) A: What do you have to say about that, Morgan?
(@Morgan) You expect me to berate her?
(Molly) A: She is _your_ wife.
* @Morgan smiles faintly
(@Morgan) why dont you ask either of them what caused her to say it... then we'll discuss who requires berating, yes?
* Molly watches the conversation, feeling angry
(Molly) *Edward addresses Adalbrecht* I was only complimenting Molly on being such a good choice for Veisgrafin
* Molly narrows her eyes, her jaw tensing
(Molly) You're a liar.
(Molly) *Adalbrecht looks to Morgan once moreonce more with a look of both surprise and disappointment* Well?
(Molly) *Edward and Molly glare at each other*
(@Morgan) You needn't be looking at me, but once you've heard the entire truth, _then_ I'll speak my piece
* Molly looks at Morgan a moment, moving fractionally closer to him for reassurance
(Molly) A: *he looks at both potentially guilty parties* You are not unruly children. You _will_ answer your Graf.
(Molly) E: I praised her, and Morgan's choice in her, and said that it was a good thing for Sudlachenburg. _She_ has threatened and spoken to a Lord of Eisen in an unacceptable manner. _Someone_ *he looks at Morgan briefly* needs to take his wife in hand and bring her in line!
(Molly) A: *he frowns, looking at Morgan*
* @Morgan looks back at his father
(@Morgan) If you're not going to get the truth, would you prefer I handle things?
* Molly looks out of the window œa moment before looking back. She looks to Adalbrecht.
(Molly) A: I want to know all sides. Edward, you need to be quiet now. Molly, you need to tell me what happened.
* Molly looks to Morgan for reassurance once more
* @Morgan nods to her
(@Morgan) Go on blossom
* Molly watches the floor as she speaks
(Molly) Essentially, he said that I was less pretty than Dietlinde but would be a better Veisgrafin and it was good that Morgan had made a more sensible choice this time, and that by me being here things had "worked out for the best". That is an unbearable thing for me. I will not take any blame for what was done to her because it wasn't _my_ fault! *she looks angry, glancing at Edward*
(Molly) *Edward looks at Morgan with an accusatory expression* You've told her, haven't you?!
(@Morgan) You look at me like that when the first thing you did after something so minor was run to daddy and tell tales?
(Molly) E: I thought he should know what sort of woman you've ended up marrying!
* Molly folds her arms. Adalbrecht watches Edward, then Morgan
* @Morgan looks at his father
(@Morgan) would you care to be the voice of reason?
* Molly looks at Edward. Morgan can see that look in her eyes that he knows comes before she makes a big point ((chance to interrupt if he would))
(Molly) A: *he watches quietly*
* @Morgan stays quiet
(Molly) The sort of woman I am... I am the sort of woman who has battled through a tangle of emotions and tactless statements from others to come through this situation content that my husband's late wife's death was not in any way my fault, or in any way a positive thing because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to fill her shoes. I'm the sort of woman who can make a place for herself at his side when he believed noone ever could. *she touches the back of her hand to Morgan's a moment before continuing*
(Molly) I'm the sort of woman who can know what you did to them and still be quietly making arrangements with your father for the provisions of marriage to present to Mina's father so you can marry your one true love!
(Molly) If "threatening" a Lord who insults me, insults my Kin and generally behaves like an arrogant ass is something awful enough that my husband should beat me for, you're right, I'm not the sort of woman suited to this. If my loyalty and honour are unwelcome traits, I suggest you all find yourself a new Veisgrafin! *she turns to leave ((stop her if he would))
* @Morgan places a hand on her arm gently
* Molly looks up at him, a hint of pleading in her expression
(Molly) A: *he looks at Morgan then Molly* If you wish to go to your quarters, you may
* Molly looks to Morgan, seeking his permission
* @Morgan nods to her
* Molly leaves, head held high. Adalbrecht pours some blokners, putting glasses for his sons on the desk
* @Morgan watches his brother quietly
* Edward takes his and downs it
(Edward) A: *he sips his*
(Edward) She's being oversensitive. She has read more into it than what I said, or meant.
(Edward) A: *he looks at Morgan*
(@Morgan) I happen to think she's not overreacting in the slightest.
* Edward crosses his arms
(Edward) You can't deny that she's better suited to being the Veisgrafin
(@Morgan) Do you want to die? Is that what this is?
(Edward) A: *he sighs, sitting, waiting to referee*
(Edward) No, but I don't understand why my opinions are blown so far out of proportion here. Certainly not enough to threaten me as she did.
(@Morgan) She didn't threaten you... she said if she'd not promised to not harm you, she'd drive a dagger into your cold black heart...
(@Morgan) but since she _has_ promised not to harm you... she wont.
(Edward) A: *he sips his blokners. For the briefest moment Morgan thinks he sees an impressed or amused look on his father's face*
(Edward) And you both trust that?
* @Morgan smiles
(@Morgan) Let me explain this to you Edward... She knows that if _anyone_ is going to kill you... it'll be me. She didn't promise not to harm you because I didn't want you harmed... but because any harm will come from _my_ hand.
* Edward frowns
(Edward) I still don't think a well-bred Lady should speak or act that way and still represent our family.
(@Morgan) Well then, how about we let all our actions draw the appropriate consequences shall we?
* @Morgan rolls his shoulders
* Edward watches him
(Edward) In that case, shall we start with you disgracing the family name by sneaking off and wedding a commoner?
(Edward) A: *he stands up* Enough, Edward. You go much, much too far.
(Edward) A: *he waits on Morgan's reaction*
(@Morgan) Interesting that you say that now while this morning you were claiming to understand why... You're a hypocrite and a coward, Edward.
(Edward) I _do_ understand why you made the decision you did. I still think it was the wrong choice. I am not going to pretend that wedding Dietlinde was a good idea just because your new wife has some oddly sentimental attachment to her and Jana.
(Edward) A: *he looks a little confused, and looks to Morgan*
* @Morgan shrugs slightly
(@Morgan) long story
(Edward) A: *he inclines his head slightly, looking back to Edward, waiting on Morgan's response to his brother*
(@Morgan) Fine, you want it that way... disinherit me, disown me, I'll move elsewhere. And you'll be dead before winter.
(Edward) A: That will never be Edward's decision to make.
(Edward) I don't want you disinherited! If it weren't for your highly strung wife we wouldn't be having this conversation!
* @Morgan takes out his sword and places it on the desk suddenly before backing away from it
(Edward) A: *he looks at it as does Edward*
(Edward) A: what is the meaning of this?
(@Morgan) Its not often I'm pushed to the point of losing my temper, so I think it best I don't have that to hand when it happens
(Edward) A: *he nods, then looks at Edward* If I were you I'd stop insulting her. You really don't understand the nature of their relationship. This isn't some little teenage crush that you spend years pining over, hoping the fates will eventually allow you to wed. This is deeper than that. The bond they share, and the lengths they'll go to is far more than you'd ever guess. If he calls you out for the insults you've given his wife tonight, I won't stop him
* Edward looks very angry
(Edward) Fine. If that is what you want, I'll meet you.
* @Morgan grins
(@Morgan) Well then... maybe I'll slice your arm this time...
(Edward) *There is a tap at the door before it's opened without waiting
(Edward) *Verity stands in the doorway, briefly surveying the men before her eyes find the silvery blade. She steps in, shutting the door behind her.
(Edward) V: The servants are gossiping that there is unrest in our household and that trouble is brewing. Are they correct? *she looks to the others before her gaze falls on her favourite son*
* @Morgan nods slowly
(Edward) * Verity frowns* what has happened?
* Edward and Adalbrecht actually look a little worried that Morgan will be utterly truthful
* @Morgan watches his mother for a moment
(@Morgan) I do not wish to 'tattletell'
(Edward) V *she watches him in that same calm way she always has, one that always made him feel ashamed of his behaviour* Adalbrecht?
(Edward) A: Edward has insulted Molly and hurt her feelings. He's also said some things to her about Dietlinde that he shouldn't have. Morgan is understandably angry.
(Edward) *she looks to Morgan for confirmation*
* @Morgan nods slightly
(Edward) V *she looks to her youngest son* Oh Edward, how could you?! Molly is a lovely young woman who no honourable gentleman would speak badly of. And how cruel to mention Dietlinde to her! As if it is not painful enough for her to be the new wife! I am ashamed of you, you were raised better than that.
* Edward bows his head, looking troubled by this chastisement.
(Edward) A: *he looks to Morgan a moment with the ghost of a smile*
(Edward) But she threatened to kill me, Mother.
(@Morgan) Liar...
(Edward) V *she looks at him* Do not be absurd Edward. She wouldn't do such a thing. No doubt you misunderstood her. You should not speak of your sister-in-law so disgustingly.
* Edward looks down at the floor
(Edward) V: *she looks to Morgan* Did you wish to say something?
* @Morgan shakes his head
(Edward) V: Good. Please put your sword away. Edward, you will apologise to Morgan for insulting his wife, and in the morning you will apologise to Molly for behaving so unkindly.
* Edward crosses his arms, looking petulant
(Edward) V: Now, Edward.
* Edward looks to Morgan
(Edward) I'm sorry I insulted your wife.
* @Morgan nods ever so slightly before picking up his sword and sheathing it
(Edward) V: Good. Edward, you can escort me to my rooms. Goodnight Adalbrecht, goodnight Morgan. *she ushers Edward out*
* @Morgan bows his head
(Edward) A: *he bids her goodnight, returning to his blokners when she's gone* Sometimes I wonder if she isn't spending a little too much time with Martha Forrester...
* @Morgan shrugs
(@Morgan) there are many worse she could be spending time with
** You're now known as Adalbrecht
(Adalbrecht) Are you planning on calling him out?
(@Morgan) what'd be the use?
(Adalbrecht) Tradition? *he smiles slightly*
(@Morgan) it'd just serve to spread more rumours
* Adalbrecht nods
(Adalbrecht) What did he mean about Molly's attachment to Dietlinde?
(@Morgan) You'll have to ask her yourself, its complicated
* Adalbrecht nods
(Adalbrecht) Will she accept his apology?
* @Morgan shrugs
(@Morgan) I dont know
(@Morgan) if he lies about what she said again, mind, I'll bust his nose again
* Adalbrecht nods
(Adalbrecht) He'll deserve it. Did she really say she'd put a dagger in his cold black heart?
* @Morgan nods
* Adalbrecht looks a little surprised but smiles a little
(Adalbrecht) That's rather unexpected
* @Morgan nods
(Adalbrecht) You'd best find her. Goodnight Morgan.
* @Morgan bows his head
(@Morgan) Goodnight father
* Adalbrecht smiles as he goes

resolution: wary truce. Seek confirmation of potential annexing from Dreiser. Dreiser Moutain wouldn't meet him due to Morgan favouring love. Dreiser duel ends in removal of manhood. Schwarzenwald dream- Molly in a house with a water wheel, unable to see him. Schattenmann appears. More whispers.
