Weber retreats once they have drinks Feb 27 19:16:39 * Morgan sips it, looking at the people below Feb 27 19:16:39 E: I’d like to make a toast, to Morgan and Molly, settling in their new home, both house and area Feb 27 19:16:39 * Morgan glances at him, looking surprised Feb 27 19:16:40 *Molly smiles, and the others join in this, clinking their glasses together quietly” Feb 27 19:16:42 * Morgan gently touches his glass to Edwards, inclining his head Feb 27 19:16:44 *Molly smiles at Morgan, then looks down as a little group of musicians start up* M: Oh! I think it’s starting, Feb 27 19:16:47 * Morgan nods, sipping his drink, looking toward the stage Feb 27 19:19:26 *The play gets underway. It’s a mix of comedy, drama, and musical. The main plot is that a wealthy man with no children is trying to con his acquaintances out of money with the promises of being left his entire fortune. It’s engaging and funny, but the highlight is definitely Izamelous as the household servant who frequently looks at and engages the audience, poking fun at the other characters. There’s a brilliant and humourous choreographed fight for t Feb 27 19:20:12 * Morgan watches, impressed Feb 27 19:20:38 E: That scene was very well done Feb 27 19:20:57 * Morgan nods Feb 27 19:20:58 Very Feb 27 19:22:53 *the wig makes its appearance on a boy dressed as a very buxom widow being lured in by the main character. There are several bawdy jokes, not particularly offensive, just rude. The women with him seem to find it hilarious, though Molly sometimes has to translate why it’s funny for Alice* Feb 27 19:24:13 * Morgan slowly drinks his champagne Feb 27 19:24:34 *Edward chuckles along on Morgan’s other side* Imagine having father with us... Feb 27 19:26:16 He'd hate this Feb 27 19:26:48 *One of the characters describes the arrogant main one when he says “They often call him Cock Of The Walk!” Izamelous is dead-panly polishing an apple on his apron when he says “Yes, they call him the same when he’s stood still.” Feb 27 19:27:22 Edward laughs: Half of it would go right over his head Feb 27 19:27:49 * Morgan nods Feb 27 19:27:51 Thankfully Feb 27 19:32:08 *Edward nods, drinking his champagne. There’s another fight scene, this time an angry acquaintance that Izamelous has to defend the main character from. It culminates in the dwarf’s trousers getting sliced up the crack. it’s very theatrical, the audience love it, especially when he hits the other man with a broom and knocks him out before slowly feeling at his rear and saying “Sir, I think the bottom has fallen out of your scheme” Feb 27 19:32:52 * Molly giggles, pressing her face to Morgan’s arm. HH seems to be having a whale of a time Feb 27 19:33:22 He'd probably get that one Feb 27 19:33:36 E: One would hope so! Feb 27 19:33:53 Cant be entirely certain though Feb 27 19:34:03 E: No, quite. Feb 27 19:34:56 *The story moves along. At its conclusion, the acquaintances put two and two together, all confronting him. This makes the man drop down dead Feb 27 19:35:32 E: I admit I did not expect that. Feb 27 19:35:42 Him dropping dead? no... Feb 27 19:39:39 *In the next scene, the Will is read at the wake. It is announced that Izamelous was left all the wealthy man’s possessions and worldly goods. The conned acquaintances concede that he deserved it, and he offers to buy everyone a drink, and two for himself. Feb 27 19:39:55 Then he tells the joke Morgan has heard before, about the nice ass, house fit for a queen, and the cock down to his knees. The crowded room below erupts with laughter at it, HH too, and Inga is laughing too. Molly translates for Alice, who joins in Feb 27 19:40:20 * Morgan laughs quietly Feb 27 19:42:03 *The show is rounded off by a sing song at the wake. Each character sings a short verse that by the rules of rhyming should culminate in a rude word, but a new character takes over before it’s said so that it’s kept clean, until the end of that verse Feb 27 19:43:33 *The crowd claps along, laughing at each point it becomes obvious what the rude word should be. Edward laughs beside him. On the other side, all he hears is Molly telling Alice both the rude word and it’s Avalonian equivalent* Feb 27 19:44:39 * Morgan glances toward HeinzHarold Feb 27 19:46:05 *HH is laughing hard, but spots Morgan looking, giving him a questioning glance Feb 27 19:46:54 $Lets not repeat this$ Feb 27 19:48:04 $looks like a lotta fun$ Feb 27 19:48:49 * Morgan smiles, nodding a little before looking back to the stage Feb 27 19:50:28 *Hilarity ensues when the ‘corpse’ sits up in his coffin and sings a verse due to end in Stiff* Feb 27 19:50:42 *Edward snorts with laughter* Feb 27 19:50:48 * Morgan puts a hand over his eyes, shaking his head and laughing Feb 27 19:54:58 * Molly is giggling, trying to explain to Alice. Izamelous gets the last verse, talking about how he’d get his new house keeper to make them all a big Bundt, and the whole room seems to hang on his every word, waiting to see if he’ll say it. Instead, he says “after I’ve helped her clean the kitchen she’ll show me her enormous... gratitude! Thank you, Dukes and Duchesses, Ladies, and Gentlemen, and the rabble in the stalls!” Feb 27 19:55:28 * Morgan applauds Feb 27 19:56:40 *There is lots of applause, foot-stomping, and cheering, and they all take bows* Feb 27 19:57:47 *Edward, Molly, and the others all clap too. They look very happy, Inga has been laughing hard enough that her mascara has run a little* Feb 27 19:58:32 [that was better than I expected] Feb 27 19:59:10 [I thought it was wonderful!] Feb 27 19:59:37 E: He has a lot of talent. Wasted as a mercenary, I think. Feb 27 19:59:42 * Morgan nods Feb 27 19:59:57 I've seen him juggle daggers... he's damn good at it Feb 27 20:00:45 E: I knew he could sing from our ride down to Zweibrucke with them, but he exceeded my expectations Feb 27 20:00:56 * Morgan nods Feb 27 20:01:16 *Weber rejoins them, bowing* Your Excellency, I hope you enjoyed it Feb 27 20:01:45 Safe to say, Herr Weber Feb 27 20:03:46 *He looks delighted* Wonderful, your Excellency. I have arranged for your carriage to be ready as soon as you are ready to go Feb 27 20:04:10 * Morgan nods Feb 27 20:04:37 I need to settle up... I'd like to talk to someone about becoming a patron... Feb 27 20:12:19 It is on the house, we are very honoured to have you as our guests, your Excellency Feb 27 20:12:28 * Morgan shakes his head Feb 27 20:13:15 While I appreciate that... we got our tickets free, I will pay for my drinks... I am a man who pays my debts and... lets be honest, your theatre would benefit from our patronage, yes? Feb 27 20:14:06 * Weber smiles Feb 27 20:14:14 It certainly would, Your Excellency Feb 27 20:14:19 * Morgan nods Feb 27 20:15:19 That benefit would be higher if it could not be seen that we do that because we get free drinks... we pay for our drinks and whatnot, and we -choose- to patron the theatre... you see? Feb 27 20:16:28 * Weber nods “Yes, your Excellency. The champagne was ten guilders” Feb 27 20:16:42 * Morgan nods, handing over fifteen Feb 27 20:17:04 * Weber thanks him Feb 27 20:18:39 so... the patronage... Feb 27 20:19:30 * Weber nods Feb 27 20:20:04 Graf Maubourg has a regular subscription to the Theatre for fifty guilders a year Feb 27 20:20:28 It seems fitting that would remain with the Graf of Gottkirchen, don't you think? Feb 27 20:24:36 * Weber nods “Do you require it suitable for children, or just those of a more delicate nature?” Feb 27 20:25:07 * Morgan scratches his chin Feb 27 20:25:11 Thats a good question... Feb 27 20:27:30 I am certain they can do the latter, but not whether they have a script that would be entertaining for children Feb 27 20:29:08 * Morgan nods Feb 27 20:29:34 I shall think about it and send word... assuming they would be willing to perform on location and for my guests... Feb 27 20:30:25 They would be honoured to, your Excellency Feb 27 20:31:28 * Morgan nods Feb 27 20:31:32 Wonderful Feb 27 20:32:26 * Weber inclines his head “Thank you for your visit, I hope we will see you all again here in the future?” Feb 27 20:33:01 Given the enjoyment tonight has given us, I'd say thats fairly likely, though it may be a while Feb 27 20:35:54 * Weber smiles “I will pass on your satisfaction to the performers” Feb 27 20:36:08 Please do, we all enjoyed it, very much Feb 27 20:38:06 * Weber nods, escorting him downstairs and bidding him farewell with the promise of having someone come by tomorrow to discuss a modified performance Feb 27 20:38:59 * Morgan looks around briefly before climbing into the coach Feb 27 20:42:37 *the occupants are chatting away about their favourite bits.
