< 04Molly > ** the next morning dawns fine and bright, the start of a new week. Molly did not come down before he left for his patrol, which isnt uncommon in her last few days of insomnia. It is now 8am, the time he would usually be finished the earlymorning patrol and ready for breakfast* @Morgan places his gun and sword belt in a cupboard and goes to the table, looking around for Molly * Molly comes down the stairs, tying up her hair with a shiny brown ribbon. The tiredness in her eyes is gone, her cheeks rosy, and her step is lighter. She looks incredibly refreshed and happy < 04Molly > Good morning dear heart < 08@Morgan > good morning blossom * Molly smiles as she gets to the bottom. Her cornflower blue dress is plain, but cut perfectly to highlight her hourglass figure. She comes to him and bends down, kissing his cheek without hesitation < 04Molly > I hope you are hungry... < 08@Morgan > I am rather < 04Molly > good... what would you like? * Molly straightens up < 08@Morgan > a bit of everything I suppose * Molly giggles and goes to the stove < 04Molly > I am sure I can manage that! * Molly serves up his breakfast, and brings it to the table. It is all cooked exactly as he likes it < 04Molly > tea, toast? * @Morgan sits at the table < 08@Morgan > please * Molly nods, and pours his tea, putting the bread on to toast. She brings his cup and hers to the table < 04Molly > How was the patrol? < 08@Morgan > not bad... took a few potshots at some pheasants * Molly laughs softly < 04Molly > I can not imagine you missing, unless it was on purpose < 08@Morgan > I dont think my heart was really in it * Molly checks the toast, leaning against the cupboard. She fidgets with her hair < 04Molly > No? < 08@Morgan > no... sometimes I just like to keep in practice * Molly smiles, putting the toast on a plate < 04Molly > I thought perhaps your heart was elsewhere < 08@Morgan > what good would I be if I could not concentrate? * Molly laughs < 04Molly > useless for very little...or at least very little outside * @Morgan leans back in the chair, removing the knife from his belt * Molly watches him, putting the toast before him, and nudges the butter to him < 04Molly > Were you so heavily armed when in die dauerhaftigkeit? < 08@Morgan > no... its mostly come since coming to avalon * Molly goes back to the stove and gets herself some bacon. She comes back to the table and sits at the head of the table, backto the stove, diagonally from him < 04Molly > That I can understand * @Morgan butters some toast, passing some to her * Molly smiles < 08@Morgan > I think perhaps it comes from the constant moving... I only bought Xantha over recently < 04Molly > thank you, dear heart. Where was he in between? < 08@Morgan > Sudlachenburg < 04Molly > Did he stay with your parents? * @Morgan nods * Molly takes a small bite of her toast, obviously very interested < 04Molly > I can imagine he was pleased to see you... in his own special way < 08@Morgan > you'd think so * Molly laughs < 04Molly > Did he bite you? < 08@Morgan > and stamped on my foot * Molly laughs, biting her lip < 04Molly > At least he is consistant < 08@Morgan > aye * Molly finishes her toast, and butters two roughly cut slices of bread < 08@Morgan > apparently he spent his time there bullying Edwards horse and biting anyone who came near him * Molly laughs < 04Molly > that does not surprise me... and yet he has taken to both myself and Aurora rather easily < 08@Morgan > I wonder if it perhaps stems from the fact that he realises there's little chance of escaping < 04Molly > I am not sure I understand < 08@Morgan > what are his options... be horrible and face my wrath... accept it and get on with you * Molly looks slightly troubled < 04Molly > You surely would not have scolded him for disliking me? < 08@Morgan > would I not? < 08@Morgan > it wouldn't be the first time he and I have come to blows < 04Molly > I would hate to come between you * Molly puts the bacon between the bread and cuts the sandwich diagonally < 08@Morgan > its his choice really * Molly nods, eating her sandwich < 04Molly > I like him, though I would be terrified to ride him! < 08@Morgan > I'm told I'm the only one to ever succeed * Molly grins < 04Molly > I like a challenge though... < 08@Morgan > to the best of my knowledge, Xantha is the direct cause of six broken arms, two broken legs and a paralysis below the waist * Molly looks horrified < 04Molly > He is very lucky to not have been disowned... < 08@Morgan > that's while he was with the breeder... men who came and tried to tame him * Molly nods < 04Molly > have you ever wondered why he is so? < 08@Morgan > no... * Molly smiles softly < 04Molly > I like him regardless. < 08@Morgan > I mean... I'm told he was never mistreated at all < 04Molly > It truly is very strange * Molly sips her tea < 04Molly > I slept far better last night * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > I can see * Molly blushes < 04Molly > I feel much better as well < 08@Morgan > good... your lack of sleep was truly worrying me < 04Molly > I merely wish I had confided in you immediately, for I would have saved myself alot of exhaustion * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > quite * Molly drinks her tea < 04Molly > How is your breakfast, dear heart? < 08@Morgan > very good < 04Molly > I am glad to hear it... Mama always says that making a good breakfast is an essential skill for any woman < 08@Morgan > I think its an essential skill for anyone * Molly smiles playfully < 04Molly > You think you would do it as well as I? < 08@Morgan > I think our versions of excellent my differ < 04Molly > How so? < 08@Morgan > I spent years eating a breakfast of stale bread and water... excellent compared to that doesn't take a lot of doing < 04Molly > I am certain whatever you made would be wonderful, dear heart < 08@Morgan > we'll have to see one day * Molly nods < 04Molly > Do you have plans for wednesday at all? < 08@Morgan > I'm not sure... I'm trying to remember when we're supposed to go back to the blacksmith < 04Molly > I believe he said a week, which it will be < 08@Morgan > then perhaps I should go to see him * Molly laughs < 04Molly > That was what I intended to suggest. I must also pass Mr Jameson's to collect the fabric * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > Then perhaps we can make a day of it? < 08@Morgan > if you wish to < 04Molly > Do you not? < 08@Morgan > I am happy to or not * Molly looks back to the table < 04Molly > I would like to * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > then that is what we shall do * @Morgan eats some toast * Molly smiles broadly < 04Molly > I shall have to be gone all of tomorrow though... < 08@Morgan > oh? < 04Molly > I have teaching to do... The more I do in these next few weeks, the easier it shall be to prepare for our travel, and to make my dress. Without completeing my teaching, I shall not have time to make anything to walk down the aisle in * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > as you need to... * Molly giggles < 04Molly > truly, I doubt it would go down very well if I did not < 08@Morgan > quite < 04Molly > and as for having an iconographer... * Molly giggles, and sips her tea < 08@Morgan > well... it'd certainly give him something to capture < 04Molly > Or he'd demand extra payment as compensation for the damamge to his lens * @Morgan laughs * Molly stands up, brushing the crumbs off her skirt < 04Molly > it would certainly make the day unforgettable < 08@Morgan > quite so * Molly takes her plate to the sink < 04Molly > Though I expect for me it shall be unforgettable regardless < 08@Morgan > I would hope so * Molly washes her plate, and comes to stand behind him. She kisses his crown, hand on his shoulder. < 04Molly > Have you any clothes for me to wash? < 08@Morgan > no, thank you Session Time: Wed Jun 17 00:00:00 2009 < 04Molly > I always wash on mondays... my other always does, and both my grandmothers did... it just seems normal * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > what plans have you for the remainder of the day? < 08@Morgan > I haven't made any particular plans... I might brush Xantha down < 04Molly > and polish your sword? < 08@Morgan > perhaps... I should oil my rifle as well < 04Molly > I shall leave you to it then, dear one, for I need to do all the bedlinens and I am unsure how long the good weather will hold for. * @Morgan nods * Molly rubs his shoulder < 04Molly > I shall only be outside if you need me for anything, or just desire my company * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > I may bring the sword out to polish < 04Molly > As you wish * Molly goes upstairs, gathering the bedlinens off both beds. After a few minutes, she brings the pile down. She spends the rest of the morning washing, and hangs them all to dry. The day passes quickly, and at sunset she brings them in, and puts them on the beds. She comes down and cooks dinner, and then they sit outside a little while. ((mtf)) < 04Molly > She has returned to be affectionate with him, though it goes no further than just passionate kissing. Retiring early, Molly again sleeps very well, and is gone just after breakfast, returning finally around 7pm for dinner. Again, they are very affectionate for a good while before bed. ((mtf)) < 04Molly > The wednesday is another bright and warm day and Molly is already up and breakfast is ready when he returns from patrol. She smiles broadly, and is obviously looking forward to the trip. Once breakfast is done, she waits by the door for him to be ready. * @Morgan dons his sword and knife before shrugging into his great coat < 04Molly > I hope one day you will feel you need not be so armed... * Molly picks up her bag, putting her cloak over her arm < 08@Morgan > force of habit I suppose... I've spent more time in the last few years armed as such or more than I have without < 04Molly > That is very said, dear one... I should imagine you might feel eager now to leave such things behind? < 08@Morgan > not particularly * Molly tilts her head, opening the door < 04Molly > Oh, I would have thought that you relished the idea of the upcoming future where you need not be constantly armed in case of monsters and so forth < 08@Morgan > it feels... part of who I am now * Molly nods, holding the door open < 04Molly > I can understand that * @Morgan heads out, shruging to get his coat to settle * Molly shuts the door carefully < 04Molly > That coat will always remind me of your return from eisen... < 08@Morgan > oh? * Molly moves to walk beside him < 04Molly > I was so surprised and relieved to see you... it took a great deal of struggle to keep my reactions in check < 08@Morgan > in truth I was perhaps a little disappointed at that * Molly looks surprised < 04Molly > You were? < 08@Morgan > indeed < 04Molly > I could not risk it becoming public without being certain of you * Molly walks down towards Tawstock * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > I thought perhaps your feelings would have disapated in your absence and my attentions would be unwanted < 08@Morgan > as you discovered, that was not the case < 04Molly > Yes... and though I could not express my immense pleasure at your return, you can be assured I felt it most strongly * @Morgan nods * Molly smiles at him warmly < 04Molly > It is a beautiful day < 08@Morgan > that it is blossom < 04Molly > It seems strange to think I shall not see the summer here < 08@Morgan > does it trouble you? < 04Molly > It will be... different < 08@Morgan > it will be warmer < 04Molly > I should imagine it'd be less prone to the sudden post-heat storms we have in the summer here < 08@Morgan > aye, though when we do have storms, they're really rather intense < 04Molly > I quite like the Avalon summer, one or two mild storms, but mostly good weather * Molly smiles softly < 04Molly > however, the reason for not being here for it is perfectly valid < 08@Morgan > indeed it is < 04Molly > strange to think that last summer would be my last summer in Avalon... * @Morgan tilts his head slightly, listening < 08@Morgan > I cant say it occured to me... < 08@Morgan > but then I've travelled rather a lot * Molly watches him < 04Molly > If someone had told me it was my last, and why, I think I would have called them a liar < 08@Morgan > I may have agreed with you back then < 04Molly > Indeed * Molly looks puzzled < 04Molly > Fare you well? < 08@Morgan > I was... listening to the birds * Molly smiles softly < 04Molly > When I was younger, I could tell each by their song... however in the time I have worked, I have forgotten a deal of it... < 08@Morgan > some birds sound remarkably like... < 04Molly > like what, dear one? < 08@Morgan > dragons < 04Molly > I thought there wereno such thing... unless you believe siegfried of course < 08@Morgan > the drachen have not died out completely... * @Morgan pauses, looking at the treeline * Molly watches him closely, eyes soft < 04Molly > and those surviving sound like these birds? < 08@Morgan > some birds, yes < 08@Morgan > the surviving ones are a mere shadow of their former selves < 04Molly > Will you take me to see them, on our honeymoon? < 08@Morgan > they're not the easiest things to find * Molly looks at him with a smile < 04Molly > Oh I do not mind... if we see them, I shall be happy, but if not, there are plenty other interesting things in the woods * Molly walks along quietly, their silence companiable. They pass through Lower Tawstock, and then Sunnymeade. Out of eye sight, she walks closer beside him < 04Molly > I think we will arrive in Sudlachenburg around May 21st... * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > A week to Carleon, another to Freiburg, and then a final weel to Sudlachenburg. Assuming of course that you would not prefer to round the coast of Montaigne and travel up the Great River < 08@Morgan > a tricky prospect, last I checked < 04Molly > I think it would involve passing through the Schwarzenwald < 08@Morgan > which isn't exactly advisable < 04Molly > I rather thought not... I umm... did you give thought to telling your parents of me before we arrived? * @Morgan sniffs loudly < 08@Morgan > what makes you think they do not already know? < 04Molly > I... ummm... well...do they? * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > When did you tell them, dear one? < 08@Morgan > when have I had opportunity? < 04Molly > I thought you may have written perhaps < 08@Morgan > no... I spoke with my mother about you when I was there * Molly looks surprised < 04Molly > I shall understand if you do not wish to tell me, but I confess an intense curiosity as to what was said, and her reaction, and how the discussion came about * @Morgan smiles faintly < 08@Morgan > she told me to stop being an idiot * Molly now looks even more puzzled < 04Molly > An idiot how? < 08@Morgan > she said it was obvious that I cared for you and that I should stop being an idiot and do something about it < 08@Morgan > personally I think she's been taking personal skills advice from my father < 04Molly > and how did you react? < 08@Morgan > like a scolded child * Molly looks pained < 04Molly > I am sorry < 08@Morgan > for? < 04Molly > being the subject that made you react so * @Morgan shrugs < 08@Morgan > these things happen < 04Molly > But I know how much you care for your mother, and her feelings for you... < 08@Morgan > indeed... but I followed her advice did I not * Molly giggles < 04Molly > Aye, and then some! < 08@Morgan > quite < 04Molly > So she will not be too surprised? < 08@Morgan > I dont think so < 04Molly > Well, dear heart, I hoped you painted me in a flattering light! < 08@Morgan > it would be impossible to paint you in anything but * Molly blushes < 04Molly > you flatter me < 08@Morgan > I merely speak the truth < 04Molly > I am not as good as you believe * @Morgan shrugs < 08@Morgan > you're wrong * Molly smiles < 04Molly > And your father, dear one? < 08@Morgan > he seems... eager to meet you < 08@Morgan > not quite as eager as my mother, but she is almost exactly the typical avalonian * Molly looks surprised < 04Molly > I find myself already nervous... I hope they think I'm worthy enough < 04Molly > **they get in to Tawstock's outskirts < 08@Morgan > I've no doubt < 04Molly > It's just that my background is so poor, and my family completely untitled < 08@Morgan > not completely... < 04Molly > very nearly * Molly looks around < 04Molly > where shall we go first? < 08@Morgan > your choice < 04Molly > well I should like to see your new sword... * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > you know why I wanted it better balanced? < 04Molly > No, not at all * @Morgan draws his sword and offers it to her hilt first * Molly looks around, noticing a few strange looks from various passers-by. She takes it, with a brief flicker of emotion in her eyes < 08@Morgan > you'll notice how heavy it is toward the tip... the balance is a long way forward of the middle < 04Molly > Yes, I agree < 08@Morgan > this sword was designed to be swung by someone in a saddle, moving at speed... its not designed for finess, its designed to carry an opponent backwards < 04Molly > And you think you require more precision now? * Molly looks at the sword, particularly the place where the ribbon was * @Morgan shrugs slightly < 08@Morgan > you have a problem? < 04Molly > I...ummm... I think perhaps my favour must have been lost somehow < 08@Morgan > not lost... its wrapped around the grip of my rifle... * Molly brightens noticeably < 04Molly > I am very pleased to hear it < 08@Morgan > with the sword being weighted as it is, the ribbon was making it difficult to use properly < 04Molly > Oh, I am sorry... but at least it is safe * Molly hands the sword back * @Morgan puts it back in its frog * Molly continues to walk towards the blacksmiths. < 04Molly > I hope the new one will be as you hoped * Molly watches the various passers-by, all busy and bustling around, some at work, some at play * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > we shall see < 04Molly > How will you carry two swords? * Molly watches a man and woman walk along, him escorting her on his arm. < 08@Morgan > I shall have to obtain another frog I suppose < 04Molly > Will that not be very heavy? * Molly continues watching as they get closer. She looks at Morgan with a broad grin * @Morgan shrugs < 04Molly > Of course, you are more than strong enough to have such a weight around your waist * Molly smiles, watching the merchant, Richard Roberts, he of no hope for the future, flirting blatently with the petite blonde upon his arm < 08@Morgan > quite... * Molly nudges Morgan ever-so-slightly, and whispers to him so not to be overheard < 04Molly > I believe you provided hope after all... < 08@Morgan > apparently so * Molly smiles at the merchant as they cross paths, and he nods at Morgan with a smile * @Morgan nods at the man * Molly waits til they've passed < 04Molly > Must be the season for it < 08@Morgan > evidently < 04Molly > It is nice to see him happy at least < 08@Morgan > indeed it is blossom < 04Molly > Though perhaps not the wisest of choices for a companion < 08@Morgan > oh? * Molly 's eyes sparkle slightly, as they do when she has gossip < 04Molly > Are you sure you wish to know? < 08@Morgan > I do * Molly walks close, speaking quietly < 04Molly > Bessie Crainge is the yougest of four daughters. Her father is the baker on queen street... Her sisters between them have 4 children, all out of wedlock, as none could ever name one man as the definate father... < 08@Morgan > I see < 04Molly > And of course then, when each potential father was approached, none would agree to marry Margaret, Jane or... now what is her name...of yes, Louise, for they all believed the other potentials to be the father * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > With Jane's second child, it is rumoured that there were seven potential fathers! < 08@Morgan > seven?! < 04Molly > Yes... And even the date of the birth of her daughter could not accurately pin point who her father was, as three of these men lay with her on the same day! * Molly is strangely less embarassed by such things when it concerns gossip < 08@Morgan > shocking < 04Molly > Awful, isn't it? < 08@Morgan > terribly < 04Molly > So, Bessie took to church a great deal, to pray for her sisters and their children, and to protect herself from such wantonness... < 08@Morgan > and... * Molly grins < 04Molly > And there is a rather handsome groundsman there who supposedly tills more than just the graveyard... < 08@Morgan > I see * Molly smiles innocently < 04Molly > Of course, it could all well be idle gossip and rumour < 08@Morgan > but its most likely at least partly true < 04Molly > well yes, insomuch as her sisters are not married... but Bessie herself might not be guilty of ... of such behaviour * @Morgan nods * Molly spots the blacksmiths and heads towards it < 04Molly > If Mr Roberts announces a sudden desire to be wed, I think it'll be fairly confirmed... * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > indeed < 04Molly > **There is a small voice calling from behind them "Miss Forrester, Miss Forrester!" * Molly turns around to see the small red-haired boy, about 7 years old, running towards her. She looks to Morgan * @Morgan nods slightly * Molly smiles at the lad, and bends down, getting to his eye height. She smiles broadly < 04Molly > What is the matter, Tommy? < 04Molly > **He looks up at her with adoring eyes. "Daddy said a letter for you came today, and I saw you walking by and... " he shuffles his feet slightly, brown eyes looking at the floor shyly "I said I would come and get you, and hold your hand so you were safe and didn't get lost" * Molly smiles broadly at him, and then looks up to Morgan with an embrassaed smile < 04Molly > Well then, that's a very gentlemanly thing to do, do you not agree, Master Morgan? < 08@Morgan > indeed I do < 04Molly > **Tommy looks up at Morgan, eyes solemn. He looks him over, thoughtful. He then holds out his hand to Molly < 04Molly > I am certain we can spare a little time for my mail, and such a proud escort * Molly takes his hand, and walks beside her young knight. < 04Molly > Now, have you been taking your lessons from your father? < 04Molly > **Tommy: "Yes, Miss Forrester, I can even read some, and write my name and numbers" *he walks with his chest out, proud and clearly smitten. He pulls on her hand slightly, taking them towards the door. * Molly looks to Morgan over Tommy's head < 04Molly > Tom is the oldest son of the Whittakers, who run the mail coach office. Martin Whittaker will be one of those to hold my books... * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > Tommy: "Miss Forrester, I'll hold your books, I'll be real careful" * Molly laughs softly < 04Molly > One day you may well do, if you're good at your lessons and listen and learn well. One day you'll even teach your own wife and children to read < 04Molly > **Tommy: *he looks up at her confused* "But Miss Forrester you can already read!" *his eyes are earnest, genuine* * Molly looks to Morgan < 04Molly > I...ummm.... < 04Molly > **Tommy: *he continues to watch her adoringly, leading her to the office door* < 04Molly > You see, Tommy, I am already promised to another, and although you will be a very good husband, I've already given my promise... * Molly 's voice is soft, tender < 04Molly > Tommy: "Oh, ok... but if you hadn't given your promise, you'd want to marry me, when I was big and strong like Master Morgan, wouldn't you?" he looks hopefully up at her * Molly smiles and nods < 04Molly > Tommy: *he lets go of her hand, and goes over to Morgan. < 04Molly > I shall just be a moment, Morgan * @Morgan kneels down, getting to eye level * Molly goes in to the office, leaving the two outside < 04Molly > Tommy: "I really like her" he sighs sadly < 08@Morgan > I know, young master, I know < 04Molly > Tommy: his bottom lip juts out slightly "she's very pretty and kind" < 08@Morgan > indeed she is... prettier and kinder than anyone I've met < 04Molly > Tommy: "I like your sword" he looks at it, eyes as big as saucers < 08@Morgan > thank you young man... I've had it for a long time < 04Molly > Tommy: he looks back to Morgan's face "when I'm grown up like you, I want a sword like that" < 08@Morgan > I've no doubt one will come to you... let us just hope you need never use one < 04Molly > Tommy: his eyes suddenly go serious "If I was grown, and had a sword, I could fight for Miss Forrester and she could break her promise and still marry me" < 08@Morgan > indeed you could... < 04Molly > Tommy: he sighs heavily "It's very hard being a small boy, you know" < 08@Morgan > I remember... < 04Molly > Tommy: with the innocence and naivety of every six year old, he replies with "you were a small boy as well?" < 08@Morgan > a long time ago, yes < 04Molly > Tommy: he nods solemnly with another sigh "I don't think she'll change her mind, will she?" < 08@Morgan > I certainly hope not Tommy < 04Molly > Tommy: he looks slightly hurt "But I want to marry her, Master Morgan. Don't you think she should marry me? I'm strong, and brave, and can read a bit" < 08@Morgan > I've no doubt you would make a marvellous husband, Tommy... but she is already betrothed and it would be ungentlemanly to ask her to break that < 04Molly > Tommy: "I know. I don't think I'll get married ever then, all the other girls aren't like her" his face is so serious, so full of anguish < 08@Morgan > girls change my young friend < 04Molly > Tommy: "I hope so. Did you like a girl when you were a small boy?" < 08@Morgan > I was much too busy when I was young... trees to climb, mischief to be had < 04Molly > Tommy: his eyes light up "I _do_ like climbing trees..." he sighs " I hope he's nice to her and loves her as much as I do" < 08@Morgan > he does < 08@Morgan > you have my word on that < 04Molly > Tommy: he nods "I trust you, Master Morgan. And if he stops being nice and loving her, can I borrow your sword?" < 08@Morgan > of course you can * Molly opens the door, seeing the two, Morgan bending to speak to his new friend. She stops on the door step. < 04Molly > Tommy: he looks at Morgan, eyes intense " would you be my second?" < 08@Morgan > if you feel the need, of course * Molly continues to watch them < 04Molly > Tommy: he nods "thank you, Master Morgan" < 08@Morgan > you're quite welcome * @Morgan glances up * Molly 's eyes are intense, her expression enigmatic with a myriad of thoughts < 04Molly > Tommy: he turns from Morgan, and looks to Molly. He walks to her, and wraps his arms around her legs. She smiles at Morgan, toussling Tommy's hair < 04Molly > In you go, young man, your father has work for you... < 04Molly > Tommy: he looks up at her, and then takes her hand, kissing it solemnly "goodbye Miss Forrester". He runs in to the office, cheeks red * @Morgan stands up * Molly looks at Morgan a moment, that look still in her eyes before it changes and she walks towards him < 04Molly > I am ready to progress to the blacksmith * @Morgan nods and turns and begins to walk * Molly walks close beside him < 04Molly > He is a very sweet boy < 08@Morgan > indeed he is * Molly looks to him < 04Molly > I fear he may be a little upset < 08@Morgan > I think he is, yes < 08@Morgan > he is absolutely besotted * Molly smiles sadly < 04Molly > childhood crushes are so very painful at the time * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > I do believe when I was about 8 I had a crush on one of the summer farmhands on Eliza's farm, which of course we completely unrequited. He was a very serious boy of about 17 I recall, did not speak a great deal, but I thought he was stunning. I often sat on the haybales watching him, and listening to him sing to himself *she suddenly stops walking* * @Morgan stops and looks at her * Molly looks very surprised < 04Molly > I had not made the connection til now... if I sing you a little of the song, you will swiftly see why my thought gave me pause * @Morgan looks at her patiently * Molly sings softly < 04Molly > Ein Vogel wollte Hochzeit machen < 04Molly > In dem grĂ¼nen Walde < 04Molly > Viderallala, viderallala, < 04Molly > Viderallalalala * Molly finishes, and smiles at him < 08@Morgan > I see * Molly grins < 04Molly > Definately a weakness for Eisen men... < 08@Morgan > so it would seem < 04Molly > What did he speak with you about? < 08@Morgan > you... he asked if, were your betrothed to treat you badly, if he would be able to borrow my sword... * Molly smiles < 04Molly > Oh he is such a sweetheart, it is no wonder his mother adores him, I-... what did you say? < 08@Morgan > I said of course * Molly laughs softly < 04Molly > You would have to let him win you know < 08@Morgan > oh I know < 08@Morgan > but I'd be defenseless anyway < 04Molly > Oh no, for we are to collect you new sword... * @Morgan grunts < 04Molly > Or did you mean that you would be defenseless had you behaved in such a way to make him wish to fight you? < 08@Morgan > that too < 04Molly > I am sure he will forget me in time. < 08@Morgan > he'll be back to his love of climbing trees in no time < 04Molly > I am glad to hear it, poor boy * Molly smiles at Morgan < 04Molly > You were very good with him < 08@Morgan > I remember being that age < 04Molly > Were you ever smitten as he is? < 08@Morgan > no... I had no time to < 04Molly > Possibly wise, dear one * Molly gets to the door of the blacksmiths, and takes a step to the aside, allowing Morgan to complete his business * @Morgan walks inside * Molly follows. It is as always sooty, dark, hot... the clanging of hammer on molten steel rings out * @Morgan looks around the shop < 04Molly > **the SMITHY beats the glowing orange line in to shap.He picks it up and puts it into the water bath to help set it. He turns, spotting then, and comes over < 04Molly > SMITHY Good morning, sir, ma'am *he inclines his head* < 08@Morgan > master smith... < 04Molly > SMITHY What can I do for you today? < 08@Morgan > I've come to collect a sword... < 04Molly > SMITHY *his eyes light up* I remember *he goes to get it* * Molly smiles at Morgan, keeping her hem off the floor < 04Molly > These places are very dirty1 < 08@Morgan > nature of the beast I think < 04Molly > SMITHY *he comes back with a fabric wrapped bundle, which he hands to Morgan* Therewe go, sir * @Morgan lays it on the side, unwrapping it carefully < 04Molly > **It is simple but appealing, well-burnished, with a good grip, the same size exactly as his old one * @Morgan picks it up and wields it around, testing the balance < 04Molly > **the balance is exactly as he'd asked for * Molly watches him * @Morgan nods and places it back in the fabric, wrapping it back up < 04Molly > SMITHY *watches him* Is it suitable? < 08@Morgan > it's perfect... thank you * @Morgan places the other half of the payment on the counter < 04Molly > SMITHY *he puts it in his pocket* Thank you, it was a challenge, but I am pleased with it < 08@Morgan > as you should be... a tough shape for the weighting of it no doubt < 04Molly > SMITHY I had to discard the first four * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > you've managed a very impressive piece of work * Molly smiles and nods < 04Molly > SMITHY thank you sir. * Molly looks to Morgan * @Morgan takes up the bundle < 04Molly > Is there anything else you need? < 08@Morgan > no, thats everything... thank you master smith < 04Molly > SMITHY *he smiles and nods as they leave* * Molly steps back out in to the sun, taking a deep breath < 04Molly > Much better * @Morgan smiles * Molly smiles back at him < 04Molly > What would you like to do now? < 08@Morgan > I have no further plans * Molly looks to him < 04Molly > How well have you explored Tawstock? < 08@Morgan > not particularly * Molly grins < 04Molly > Would you like to see a place I loved as a child? * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > if you wish to show me < 04Molly > Yes, I think you would like it greatly * Molly walks beside him, leading him down a side street < 04Molly > Are you truly pleased with the sword? < 08@Morgan > I am, very much so * Molly looks to him with a smile, walking close beside him < 04Molly > I hope you need not test it much! * @Morgan nods slightly < 04Molly > **quietly, she leads him to an open area behind the streets ((think exeter and where the cathedral is, but not the cathedral itself)) < 04Molly > **in the open space is a ruin, what looks to be granite, old and crumbled, a vague shape of walls. < 04Molly > Here we are * @Morgan looks around Session Time: Thu Jun 18 00:00:00 2009 < 08@Morgan > its beautiful * Molly watches him fondly < 04Molly > I am glad you like it... would you like closer look? * @Morgan nods * Molly leads him over, and it is only up close that the sheer size of the ruin can be seen, taking up almost all the open space ((the ruin is about the size of the cathedral)) < 04Molly > I used to play here with my brothers when Papa came to town on business < 08@Morgan > I'm surprised you didn't get lost in here < 04Molly > Oh I did... I have never been particularly tall, and the stones were often above my eye height * Molly grins < 08@Morgan > its almost remeniscent of the drachen cathedral < 04Molly > **there 'walls' range from about 4 foot to a foot high, the stone worn by many many years passing < 04Molly > I had not thought of that... folklore has it that it was a castle < 08@Morgan > that would not surprise me at all < 08@Morgan > the layout is about right < 04Molly > It is in ancient history, of course, so there are no records. But it is a very sad tale * Molly leads in to one of the higher parts, knowing the nooks and crannies very well < 04Molly > Once upon a time... *she looks at him* ... as all the best tales begin... < 08@Morgan > indeed they do * Molly smiles, leading in to a small area, with a low wall within the higher ones. She sits, and is unable to be seen from the outside < 04Molly > There was a beautiful princess. She was bethrothed from birth, but the prince she was to marry was an evil man who treated his serfs badly. She wept each night for a brave knight to rescue her. Each night, there was a flash of lightening, and a silver dragon wound its way around her castle, looking in to her window * Molly watches his reaction, her storytelling voice soft * @Morgan nods, looking around the ruins < 04Molly > It told her that her hero was coming for her, and a few weeks, a knight came to her father's court. He had the darkest black hair, with one shiny silvery lock from his crown. They danced, and wooed, and he wrote her beautiful letters of love. This continued many weeks, and they made plans to run away together. * Molly smiles softly < 04Molly > Alas, her father discovered the plan, and locked her in her room. She wept for her hero, her knight, and the dragon came to her, promising her lover's fidelity. It told her to go to sleep, and her love would come. She laid down, and during the night there was a terrible storm. The castle was hit by lightening, reducing it to this rubble. * Molly looks up to him * @Morgan is staring at a far wall, bundle tucked under his arm < 04Molly > Villagers said they saw a silver dragon in the sky, and a young woman riding upon its back in to the night sky, getting further and further away until it was a shimmering speck. It was the night that a new cluster of stars appeared, the first of the clusters in our night sky, in the image of a kissing couple. They were reunited in eternity. * Molly smiles at him < 08@Morgan > a wonderful story < 04Molly > I rather thought so. I always wondered if it was were my mother got my middle name from, for it was supposedly the name of the princess * @Morgan nods * Molly goes quiet, thoughtful < 04Molly > So many parallels... < 08@Morgan > oh? < 04Molly > A rescue from an undesired future, my name, a silver dragon... * Molly touches the pendant at her neck * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > I see * Molly smiles < 04Molly > Quite a cruel story in some ways though < 08@Morgan > you think? < 04Molly > Yes, the castle, and all its inhabitants were completely destroyed * Molly looks down, crossing one leg, making her lap easier to rest her bag on. She opens it, looking for something < 04Molly > Are such stories common in Eisen? < 08@Morgan > to a point... though most of them revolved around the war... not counting the stories of the drachen of course < 04Molly > I would like to hear some of those you remember sometime, dear heart * @Morgan nods * Molly smiles at him, and takes out the letter from the mailcoach office. She studies the handwriting on the front a moment, brow furrowing, but doesnt speak < 08@Morgan > something wrong blossom? < 04Molly > I had not looked at the letter, for I was busy talking with Dinah, Martin's wife.... < 08@Morgan > yes... * Molly looks up at him, turning it over, running her thumb over the sealing stamp < 04Molly > It is from Colonel Kai < 08@Morgan > I see * Molly tries to read his face for his reaction. Without looking away from him, she breaks the seal * Molly sighs heavily, looking to the paper. Reading through it, her expression goes through confused, awkward, pained, saddened, disbelieving (with a small headshake), then she shrugs, and then looks puzzled. Suddenly, she smiles, and looks up at Morgan < 04Molly > It confirms what I have suspected for a good while < 08@Morgan > that being? < 04Molly > that he has no feelings for me * Molly watches him once more * @Morgan narrows his eyes, looking at the far wall * Molly goes to him, placing her hand on his upper arm. < 04Molly > I would have you read it, for I value your opinion on how I should reply. * @Morgan shakes his head < 08@Morgan > no, I would not give opportunity for others to claim that you have been manipulated by my distaste for the man * Molly steps away, eyes lowered < 04Molly > I intend for it to be the last contact I make with him. That choice is made, without any so-called manipulation < 08@Morgan > regardless... it may be cast in that light * Molly looks to him < 04Molly > I merely thought it would be prudent for you to know what has been said. * Molly shakes her head, and folds the letter < 04Molly > I shall reply this evening I think. * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > as you wish < 04Molly > I need to ensure he can have no knowledge of my plans * Molly 's voice is slightly different, not as light as usual < 08@Morgan > oh? < 04Molly > It would hardly be prudent, would it? < 08@Morgan > I wouldn't like to say... < 04Molly > No.. well, personally, I do not wish to be followed by all and sundry who wish to know the details of my life. * Molly puts the letter in her bag, being none too gentle with it < 08@Morgan > indeed * Molly goes over to one of the walls, back to him, running her hands over the stones < 04Molly > I shall tell him I am going to southern Eisen up the Great River and that until there, I do not know where I will be going. < 08@Morgan > if that is what you wish to tell him... < 04Molly > what other options are there? * @Morgan sighs < 08@Morgan > I do not know... tell him the truth, ignore him completely... * Molly still doesn't turn back < 04Molly > I could not tell him the truth until it is publicly known... and ignoring him completely will make him more inclined to spy upon my activities * @Morgan nods * Molly sighs < 04Molly > Tis all very difficult < 04Molly > I truly shall be glad once it is widely known * @Morgan nods * Molly turns to him with a half-hearted smile < 04Molly > does it trouble you that I replied to his last missive? < 08@Morgan > a little perhaps * Molly comes back over to him < 04Molly > how so < 04Molly > ((+?)) < 08@Morgan > I've never liked your friendship with that man < 04Molly > because you do not trust him? < 08@Morgan > indeed < 04Molly > and me, dear one? * Molly looks at him < 08@Morgan > and you what? < 04Molly > Do you trust me? < 08@Morgan > of course * Molly nods < 04Molly > Then you see that my final reply will be just that * @Morgan nods again * Molly sighs softly, looking away < 04Molly > Perhaps we ought to head home < 08@Morgan > perhaps * Molly leads the way out of the ruin and back to the grass * @Morgan follows her out < 04Molly > I need to go in to Lower Tawstock to collect my fabric, however, I can go alone if needed. < 08@Morgan > no no, I'd like to speak to the smithy in the village * Molly nods < 04Molly > As you wish * Molly wanders back through the narrow alley to the main street, which is slightly busier. There are a few stalls set up, which Molly looks at as they walk by. One with chickens particularly attracts her attention < 04Molly > I would like a couple of hens... but I do not know that it would be fair to have them, given our possible future plans * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > I can see your where your hesitation stems from * Molly smiles < 04Molly > And I would imagine at your parents estate, raising chickens would not be something I am likely to be doing < 08@Morgan > no? * Molly watches the chickens with a smile at their persistant sqwaking < 04Molly > Are we to live in die duerhaftigkeit, do you think? < 08@Morgan > I'm not entirely sure... * Molly looks to him, eyes soft < 04Molly > I will be happy wherever, dear heart. In truth I could live in a stable or shed, providing we were together < 08@Morgan > I think it will depend partly on whether or not Edward still lives there * Molly moves slightly closer, turning her back of the captive feathered bundles of noise, walking towards the road back to Lower Tawstock * Molly 's voice is that studied neutral < 04Molly > Yes, I understand < 08@Morgan > regardless of all else, I would not wish to be in such close proximity to him permanently * Molly nods < 04Molly > I can not say I would feel very safe... Though he may not object to my rank, I may be in his way for other reasons... * Molly looks around as they get back on to the road out, walking closer now there is no-one to see < 08@Morgan > no... he would not dare... * Molly nods again < 04Molly > I wonder that you anticipate speaking with him before the wedding? < 08@Morgan > if needs be < 08@Morgan > though it is not on my list of priorities * Molly smiles softly < 04Molly > Might I enquire as to what _is_? < 08@Morgan > arranging a ceremony... introducing our parents... * Molly walks along happily, her arm touching his as she moves < 04Molly > Would you wish to make the arrangments yourself, dear one? * @Morgan looks unsure * Molly watches him < 04Molly > What troubles you so? < 08@Morgan > I'm not sure my preperations would be sufficient... or appropriate * Molly looks intrigued < 04Molly > Why, dear one? < 08@Morgan > I do not know that it would meet your desires * Molly laughs softly < 04Molly > You think I require something lavish? < 08@Morgan > I do not know < 04Molly > Fear not, my requirements are very simple... * Molly smiles softly at him, listening a little to the birds he commented on before < 04Molly > I shall need few special arrangements * @Morgan nods slowly, shifting the bundle under his arm < 04Molly > You wished for something quiet and intimate I believe? < 08@Morgan > it... I... < 04Molly > I am sorry, I make you uncomfortable with my words * Molly looks away, taking in the different shades of green in the trees < 08@Morgan > in truth I am torn... < 04Molly > how so? < 08@Morgan > because I feel it should be done -right- but... I have issues with that * Molly looks to him, eyes slightly guarded < 04Molly > I think I understand < 08@Morgan > do you? * Molly nods, looking away from him, voice quiet < 04Molly > It needs to be...appropriate, subtle, respectful < 08@Morgan > that is part of it, yes... but not the whole < 04Molly > Then it may be I do not understand, but will listen, if you wish to voice it < 08@Morgan > I have... issues with the church * Molly looks slightly surprised < 04Molly > Oh... yes, I remember when you spoke of it in the Drachen Cathedral. I am unsure as to what to do in that regard... I am hardly solid in my own convictions... < 08@Morgan > indeed * Molly looks at him < 04Molly > My parents are rather religious < 08@Morgan > I had gathered < 04Molly > I would worry about disapointing them, but in truth, I would not wish you to make me such promises in an empty place. < 08@Morgan > an empty place/ < 04Molly > The church when one feels there is no god there < 08@Morgan > I believe there is a god there... * Molly looks to him < 04Molly > but? < 08@Morgan > I dont necessarily like him... * @Morgan looks at the sky, pensive * Molly becomes visibly tense < 04Molly > Yes, I can undrstand such. * @Morgan appears to come to a decision < 08@Morgan > when you were having your portrait with Kai taken by the iconographer, do you know where I was? * Molly watches him closely < 04Molly > No. In truth I was rather busy trying to maintain my gentleness at the time... < 08@Morgan > I was in church * Molly looks intrigued < 04Molly > What led you there? < 08@Morgan > I've felt something was missing from my life... something more than the obvious * Molly looks away very quickly, obviously uncomfortable < 04Molly > did you find any solace there? < 08@Morgan > a little, I suppose * Molly nods < 04Molly > But not enough to wish to be wed there? < 08@Morgan > I've yet to be fully convinced one way or t'other < 04Molly > I am certain there will be a way... I do not mind where we are wed, but there are some essentials I must have < 08@Morgan > being? < 04Molly > Firstly, I wish to be somewhere I can not be rained upon * Molly smiles at him * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > I think thats a reasonable requirement < 04Molly > Secondly, I must look amazing < 08@Morgan > already sorted there then * Molly blushes a little < 04Molly > Thirdly, I wish to write my own vow to you * @Morgan looks surprised * Molly looks slightly satisfied with herself at his reaction < 04Molly > That troubles you? < 08@Morgan > not troubles, as such < 04Molly > what then, dear one? < 04Molly > **they pass Sunnymeade, though barely notice it < 08@Morgan > surprises, I suppose * Molly looks at him solemnly < 04Molly > It is important to me < 08@Morgan > then that is what you shall do * Molly smiles broadly < 04Molly > Fourthly *she giggles at the word, thinking it sounds made up* I have to marry the most wonderful man in the world * @Morgan frowns < 08@Morgan > but I dont know where Holzheim will be * Molly nudges him playfully < 04Molly > He could not hold a candle to you, truly. < 04Molly > Fifth and last, the kiss has to be perfect * Molly grins * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > I see < 04Molly > Though I doubt that will be a struggle < 08@Morgan > no, I dont think so somehow * Molly smiles, a facade of innocence < 04Molly > Of course, a little practise would be prudent * @Morgan nods < 08@Morgan > most likely, yes < 04Molly > Have you any requirements or desires for the wedding? < 08@Morgan > no * Molly giggles < 04Molly > Apart from it being me you wed, of course < 08@Morgan > naturally * Molly smiles < 04Molly > And that we are not detained all evening for the celebrations * @Morgan blushes * Molly looks at him with a little smile. She has clearly recovered from the worries she had voiced that night < 04Molly > I might add that to my list of requirements, number six: that the night time comes, and I am no longer a house that is bought but not possesed... * @Morgan blinks, confused * Molly laughs softly < 04Molly > Dear heart, I am afraid you would be truly shocked were I to explain my meaning < 08@Morgan > I think I probably would be * Molly nods < 04Molly > I shall not tell you then < 08@Morgan > probably just as well < 04Molly > **the outskirts of the village are quiet as they enter them < 04Molly > I think perhaps we might go to the blacksmith first... < 08@Morgan > I uhhh... wish to go alone * Molly looks slightly wounded < 04Molly > Oh < 08@Morgan > I wish to speak to him about something of the nature of a surprise * Molly perks up < 04Molly > OOOH! a surprise! for me? < 08@Morgan > indeed < 04Molly > In that case.... I wanted to have a look for a couple of new quills... I shall meet you back in the square shortly? * @Morgan nods * Molly moves closer to him excitedly, and at the very last second catches herself before kissing his cheek < 04Molly > I ummm... it is getting harder to hide my feelings... < 08@Morgan > so I see * Molly looks at him a moment to read his expression < 04Molly > I'm sorry < 08@Morgan > dont be... it wont be for much longer * Molly smiles < 04Molly > excuse me... * Molly goes down the street towards the general merchants * @Morgan nods and heads off to the smithy, digging in one of his pockets < 04Molly > **The ringing of the hammer, which marks all such places, can be heard < 04Molly > **After a short while, his business is conducted * Molly sits by the well, oblivious to all around her, pinching her lower lip, eyes thoughtful * @Morgan wanders over towards the well, sucking gently on the fleshy part of his palm near his thumb * Molly looks up, dropping her hand, a little embarrased that she still does it < 04Molly > Did you complete your Eh-... errand? * Molly suddenly looks away, cheeks very red < 08@Morgan > I did < 04Molly > I...I'm glad to hear that. * @Morgan sucks on his palm, tilting his head at her * Molly watches him, and the way he sucks his palm, puzzled < 04Molly > Are you hurt, dear one? < 08@Morgan > only a minor burn... you were going to say... < 04Molly > Going to say when? < 08@Morgan > when I approached... * Molly goes very red again, looking at the floor, fidgetting, clearly very uncomfortable < 04Molly > I uhhh... it was nothing, ummm, do not worry * @Morgan raises an eyebrow * Molly looks at him, eyes pained < 04Molly > It is a conversation I am not ready to have... * @Morgan sighs and goes back to sucking his palm < 04Molly > **there are a few people in the square, though it would seem that none are paying attention to them < 04Molly > It is not a lack of trust, please, do not be angry < 08@Morgan > I am not * Molly looks to him < 04Molly > Perhaps there is something I could do for the burn? < 08@Morgan > it is of no moment... barely even a heat rash * Molly opens her bag, and then closes it < 04Molly > How did you get such? < 08@Morgan > such occurances are fairly commonplace in a smithy < 04Molly > I wondered that perhaps you had tried your hand at such work * Molly smiles playfully < 08@Morgan > it wouldn't be the first time I'll admit < 04Molly > Are you good at it? < 08@Morgan > evidently not < 04Molly > What were you try- *at this point, she is interrupted by an excited shout from behind her 'Molly?!'* * @Morgan looks round at the shotuer < 04Molly > **The girl calling her name is blonde, and bears more than a passing resemblance to Anna. She is very heavily pregnant, but that does not stop her making a rapid bee-line for Molly and Morgan. Following behind her is her husband, one John Daggett * Molly looks at Morgan before turning, hoping that the voice she heard was not who she thought, anticipating confirmation on Morgan's face * @Morgan watches the girl waddle over, face calm * Molly turns then, reassured. Upon seeing Eliza, she tenses, clear to Morgan as he stands behind her. She swear very quietly in Eisen before affixing a smile to her face. < 04Molly > Good day, Eliza. < 04Molly > Eliza: Oh Molly, how wonderful to see you, and you look so well! *she flings her arms around her childhood friend, though the huge expanse of belly prevents the two young women getting very close. Molly vibrates with a tense awkwardness. Over the two women,Morgan can see John watching from a few steps further away than is necessary < 04Molly > I...ummm... yes. You look well also. * @Morgan watches John carefully < 04Molly > Eliza: *she breaks the embrace, patting her stomach* Thank you, though truly, I feel like a heifer! The doctor thinks it might be twins! * Molly smiles softly, relaxing slightly with a topic so neutral < 04Molly > You always did want two boys, Eliza. < 04Molly > **John watches the two women, his eyes more on Molly, wary and afraid almost < 04Molly > Eliza: And you wanted a whole houseful, didn't you Moll? But always a boy first! *Eliza laughs softly, but then turns serious* * Molly goes bright red, and looks to Morgan * @Morgan glances at Molly, then back to John < 04Molly > Aye, always a boy first... Eliza, this is Master Morgan, Lady Torrington's master-at-arms and my *there is the breifest pause, one only morgan would notice* dear friend * @Morgan inclines his head slightly < 04Molly > Eliza: *she tries to curtsey, but her changed centre of gravity prevents her from doing it. She laughs at herself, and there is something very easy and charming in her personality* I am so sorry sir, but this poor lass is a bit incapable of curtseying now...in a few weeks, I'll make it my business to have Molly introduce us again when I can do it justice! * Molly laughs, ignoring her ex-fiance completely, though her eyes have softened to her friend * @Morgan nods briefly < 04Molly > Eliza: *she looks back to Molly, more serious* I want you to know Moll, I never for a moment believed what they said about you here. I thought it was completely awful, and I knew you better than that. * Molly 's eyes fill with tears, and she moves almost imperceptibly closer to Morgan < 04Molly > Thank you, Eliza, that means a great deal to me < 04Molly > Eliza: That your father, and whoever he'd promised you to could think such of you disgusted me * @Morgan blinks slowly * Molly suddenly looks to Morgan, eyes fullof surprise as it dawns on her that Eliza doesn't know < 04Molly > It is done now. In truth, my life is far better because of it. * Molly shoots a quick look at John without Eliza seeing, and whatever he sees in her eyes causes him to look away < 04Molly > Eliza: I heard that you were to be married far above your station *she smiles* * Molly looks very shocked < 04Molly > How?! Who told you?! * Molly looks briefly at Morgan, reading his reaction * @Morgan 's face is carefully neutral, still looking at John < 04Molly > Eliza: Oh it was well-known. I was devestated for you when I heard of your loss of he ship, and then your bethrothed. My heart went out to you in the loss of your knight in shining armour *she pats Molly's hand* < 04Molly > **John's attention turns to Morgan as the two women talk. He looks curious < 04Molly > Oh, Lord Jaeger! Yes, it was sad. But in truth, he had the shining armour, but no white steed... and certainly would not have taken up his sword and laid down his life to defend my honour *her tone changes, cooler, harder* as a true love would. < 04Molly > Eliza: *she nods* I'm sorry, I have been very rude. Molly, this is my husband, John. His father's farm is just across the valley from the Torrington Estate. < 04Molly > John: *he takes a step forward. He looks at Molly, eyes intense* Pleased to meet you. And you, Mater Hockridge, I have heard much of you * @Morgan speaks quietly, voice very even < 08@Morgan > and I of you mister Daggett... * Molly stands quite still, looking at Eliza < 04Molly > Eliza: Oh! Can you excuse me, I need to speak with Mrs Littlejohns, she's going to deliver the babies, but I won't be long. You'll be here, won't you Moll? * Molly nods to her, watching her excuse herself and going in to a nearby house. < 04Molly > John: *he looks at Molly* You _do_look well... * Molly looks back to him, blue eyes cool < 04Molly > I am John, better than you would know. < 04Molly > John: *he looks to Morgan* I would like to speak with Molly alone a moment, will you excuse us? * @Morgan grins at him < 08@Morgan > no < 04Molly > John; *he looks puzzled* N.. No? * Molly bites her lower lip, trying not to smile as she looks at Morgan < 08@Morgan > cast your mind back... young Eliza introduced you as John, yet I address you as Mister Daggett... where do you suppose I know your name from? < 04Molly > John: *he looks to Molly a moment, before looking back to Morgan. He is a plain young man, several inches shorter than Morgan.* I can only imagine Molly told you we were once bethrothed * @Morgan grins at him again < 08@Morgan > you mean you -hope- she only told me such... < 04Molly > John:*he fidgets* Yes < 08@Morgan > Molly, if you wish I'll leave you alone... * Molly nods < 04Molly > I am curious to hear what Mr Daggett wishes to say to me. It will not take long. *she sounds very certain* < 04Molly > **They move away, out of earshot. John speaks to her for a few minutes, often his hands out by his sides, palms up, explaining. She stands very still, watching him, neutral, as always. After a few moments, a snatch of the words can be heard as the breeze changes. < 04Molly > John: "I understand what you went through, Moll" * Molly 's demeanour changes, shoulders squaring slightly. < 04Molly > No, you have _absolutely_ no idea what I went through, what I had to bear because of you. * Molly turns her back on him, and starts to walk towards Morgan. She gets half way there, her eyes filledwith something, an expression he's only seen on her rarely, just before her temper is lost. < 04Molly > John: *he follows* But Moll, I _did_ love you, you know... * Molly 's eyes change, and it is now clear that she is a split second from losing her temper with him on a grand scale * @Morgan starts towards them * Molly turns on her heel, and looks to John. Her voice is low, dangerous, and full of anger < 04Molly > How _dare_ you say such a thing to me? < 04Molly > John: *he looks at her, mouth open in shock at his meek ex-finacee's change* But, Moll, it's true * @Morgan steps up beside her, carefully placing the bundle on the ground < 04Molly > You lie, Mr Daggett. < 04Molly > John: *he looks even more shocked* It was because I loved you that I reacted as I did! * Molly very subtly touches the back of her hand to Morgan's, but it is unclear if she seeks reassuurance or to pacify him. < 04Molly > No, John, no. That is _not_ how a man in love reacts, ever. < 04Molly > John: *he looks to Morgan briefly, as if looking for an ally* You're being unreasonable,Moll * @Morgan fidgets his shoulders slightly * Molly 's eyes flash, and her voice lowers even more < 04Molly > No. You claim you loved me, yet you relinquished my honour to the wild fires of gossip. < 04Molly > John: But it was my father and yours that convinced me! I believed you, but they persuaded me! * Molly takes a deep breath * @Morgan draws the sword that he has undoubtedly not seen and raises the tip until it is very close to his throat < 08@Morgan > you've said what you had to say... < 04Molly > John: *his eyes go wide* But... but... * Molly looks to Morgan a moment, before looking to John. Her voice is very even < 08@Morgan > Mister Daggett, let me assure you that, while others have felt my blade, you would feel it backed by the distaste I hold for you... < 04Molly > John: But Master Hockridge, I have done nothing to you < 08@Morgan > you are still talking... obviously your wish for a long life is not as strong as you think... < 04Molly > You seek my absolution, don't you? *molly speaks, having worked out his motivation* < 04Molly > John: *he nods carefully* * Molly shakes her head < 04Molly > You may think that claiming to love me would resolve my pain, the way you ripped my life apart... Had you loved me, you would have raised a sword to protect my honour, you would have died to defend me and keep me safe. That is love, is it not, Master Morgan? < 08@Morgan > it is < 04Molly > John: *he listens, trembling slightly* but... * Molly smiles archly < 04Molly > But if you'd been wrong to defend me, and I had _actually_ been improper and was carrying another man's child? < 08@Morgan > think very carefully on your response... < 04Molly > John: *he nods, frequently looking at Morgan, though doesn't speak* * Molly looks to Morgan a moment, then to John < 04Molly > Had I actually been carrying another man's child, and you truly loved me, as you so profess, you would have defended me regardless! *she takes a breath before continuing, voice getting louder* < 04Molly > My honour would have meant so much to you, my safety, my happiness, that you would have lied to the world and claimed the child as your own! You would have torn the very fabric of the world assunder to ensure I was not treated the way I was, that I did not have to be subjected to the utter misery, injury and humiliation I have suffered in proving you wrong! * Molly is now shouting, her eyes filled with tears < 04Molly > John: *he watches her guiltily, obviouslymoved by her words. He looks to Morgan* * @Morgan stands still, sword not even wavering * Molly 's eyes overspill with the tears, the anger toomuch for her < 08@Morgan > I think your welcome has been truly worn Daggett < 04Molly > John: *he nods* I am truly very very sorry. Please,Eliza doesn't know...You wont tell her, will you? * Molly turns her back, and moves away to compose herself, leaving the two < 08@Morgan > how long, Mister Daggett, before she gets word of this fight, my sword to your throat? I wont _have_ to tell her * @Morgan puts up his sword < 04Molly > John: *he looks pleadingly at Morgan* Do you truly think she will discover such? * @Morgan shrugs, picking up the bundle * Molly moves back to Morgan's side, tears wiped away < 04Molly > Tell her yourself John. Don't let her find out by idle, life-ruining gossip. She deserves better than that, as do those babies. They deserve better than you. < 04Molly > John: *he looks utterly defeated* That's blunt enough. * Molly looks to Morgan < 04Molly > Mr Daggett is going to be leaving us shortly, allowing me to continue reuniting with my dear friend Eliza, whose friendship was stolen from me by his actions. Have you anything you wish to say to him before he leaves, as my Verditiger ((appointed champion/defender))? < 08@Morgan > I think I've said all that needed saying... < 04Molly > John: *he nods* Please, tell Eliza I shall meet her here in half an hour * Molly nods curtly, and turns away, going back to the well. She leans against it, watching John's back as he hurries away * Molly looks to Morgan, and its in her eyes that the strain of the meeting can be seen < 04Molly > Well... < 08@Morgan > I could just run him through... * Molly smiles a little < 04Molly > In truth, I did thing you might < 08@Morgan > I gave it some serious thought... * Molly watches him closely < 04Molly > what stopped you? < 08@Morgan > I thought the blood would stain your dress... * @Morgan winks * Molly looks briefly horrified * Molly then starts to laugh < 04Molly > You have a very strange humour, dear one < 08@Morgan > oh yes * Molly 's eyes become serious < 04Molly > I'm very sorry you had to see me so < 08@Morgan > I think perhaps it was necessary for your own sake < 04Molly > I did not wish you to so that side of me, when you... care so greatly for my sweet and gentle nature < 08@Morgan > as I said... necessity * Molly smiles softly at him < 04Molly > I hope I did not say anything too awful < 08@Morgan > no, I think it was all well deserved < 04Molly > I am not sure I truly believe what I said about how he should have claimed said child as his own if he really loved me... * @Morgan shrugs < 08@Morgan > thats beside the point * Molly looks around them, the square surprisingly quiet, though it is the quiet of people hiding from a man with a big sword < 04Molly > It will definately be easier when it is all in the open, for I very much would benefit from your embrace now * @Morgan takes her hand * Molly smiles at him broadly, a bit shyly, and squeezes his hand < 04Molly > Thank you < 04Molly > Eliza: *waddles towards them, still at enough distance not to see their hands. Her expression is a little puzzled.Molly doesnt notice her* < 04Molly > Was the new sword good to use? * @Morgan glances round and squeezes her hand a moment before letting go < 08@Morgan > that was my old sword * Molly interlinks her hands in her lap < 04Molly > Oh.. I was a little busy... < 04Molly > Eliza: *reaches them* Sorry about that... Where is John? * @Morgan nods * Molly smiles at her < 04Molly > Do not worry *her eyes go to Eliza's stomach, where movement can be seen slightly as the babies move* I think he went to run an Eh-.. errand *her eyes become hard, annoyed with herself for her slip again. She looks up to Eliza* He said he would meet you here shortly < 04Molly > Eliza: *she watches Molly closely, having definately noticed her slip. she nods breifly* You still do that then, Moll, when you speak something you dont mean to? *eliza laughs softly, and Molly goes scarlet, looking at the floor. Eliza turns her gaze back to Morgan* You get used to it after a while! < 08@Morgan > no doubt < 04Molly > Eliza: So, Moll, what are you doing these days? * Molly tells her about the teaching, and then how she learnt to read herself. She tells her about the Rose, and her plan to go to Eisen with her parents for the summer. She doesn't tell her about the marriage, and is pruposefully vague. After 20 mins, they make their excuses, with Molly promsing to visit before going to Eisen. The two women hug good bye < 04Molly > **Eliza waddles off happily, and Molly looks to Morgan. In her eyes there is both joy and fatigue but she smiles softly < 04Molly > That was... < 08@Morgan > tiresome? < 04Molly > It was tense... every moment I anticipated some harsh word, a doubting look < 08@Morgan > that would have been... unfortunate < 04Molly > how so? < 08@Morgan > my.. little outburst was very close to becoming less controlled * Molly smiles at him softly < 04Molly > is it wrong that part of me rather enjoyed your fierce defence of doing what is right? < 08@Morgan > perhaps a little * Molly looks at the floor, speaking quietly < 04Molly > I believe it is that it makes me feel valued < 08@Morgan > it is far past time that you feel that way * Molly smiles at him < 04Molly > What thought you of Eliza? * @Morgan looks at her < 08@Morgan > I dont think you'll like my answer * Molly looks suprised < 04Molly > you do not like her? < 08@Morgan > I think she's a fool * Molly looks slightly unsure < 04Molly > Why, dear one? < 08@Morgan > for not being... bright enough to see what that man is < 04Molly > I wonder that perhaps she is too blinded by her love? < 08@Morgan > possibly... but that's not going to stop him being what he is... < 04Molly > Which is, dear one? < 08@Morgan > a coward and a villain * Molly looks sad < 04Molly > then you believe there was not even a grain of truth in his professed feelings for me? < 08@Morgan > oh there was... but the fact that he did not have the... strength of character to do what was right does not show well in his favour * Molly looks to him with a nod < 04Molly > might I ask somethting? < 08@Morgan > of course < 04Molly > what would you have done, were you in his position then? * Molly looks at him alittle nervously < 08@Morgan > defended your honour... stood by you as a gentleman would... * @Morgan looks at the sky briefly < 08@Morgan > depopulate Tawstock of those who question your truthfulness * Molly stares at him, mouth a perfect O < 04Molly > You... you would do that, to protect me? < 08@Morgan > of course < 04Molly > and you would never have doubted me? < 08@Morgan > not for a heartbeat * Molly smiles broadly < 04Molly > Thank you, that means more than you could know * @Morgan nods * Molly leans against the rough brick of the well, slightly shaded by the roof tiles on top of the supports. < 04Molly > What thinks you that I should do? Session Time: Tue Jun 30 00:00:00 2009 < 08@Morgan > do? < 04Molly > About Eliza, and her lack of knowledge * @Morgan shrugs < 08@Morgan > is it your problem? * Molly looks thoughtful < 04Molly > Well.... no...perhaps not < 08@Morgan > then you dont have to _do_ anything < 04Molly > you think it better that she remains unaware? < 08@Morgan > would she be happier knowing? will he behave in that manner again... * Molly studies Morgan a moment < 04Molly > No, I don't think she'd love him the same. Little things could surely turn aside one's heart from someone, could it not? < 08@Morgan > if it isn't quite so strong as perhaps it should be * Molly shakes her head < 04Molly > I believe it would destroy even some of the strongest loves < 08@Morgan > perhaps * Molly watches him < 04Molly > do you not think? < 08@Morgan > not particularly... * Molly smiles < 04Molly > well, we can not agree upon all things, for there should be no fun in that! < 08@Morgan > indeed blossom < 04Molly > As for whether he'd behave the same again... *her eyes darken* Do you believe he has learnt from his past mistake enough to not do it again? Can people truly change so? < 08@Morgan > I dont know... * Molly nods distractedly < 04Molly > Much as I think she deserves my honesty, I could not tell her, especially now < 08@Morgan > no, I do not think that would be for the best < 04Molly > Truly, were something to go wrong, I could never forgive myself. * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > She is very naive, in many ways. In truth, had I never come to Lady Catherine's, I would be exactly the same as she < 08@Morgan > possibly... but that is not how things turned out * Molly smiles at him, dropping her voice slightly, playfully < 04Molly > Would you still have liked me? * @Morgan screws up his nose < 08@Morgan > maybe * Molly pouts a little, though it clearly covers a wry smile < 04Molly > Perhaps you like me best the way I am? < 08@Morgan > quite so * Molly becomes a little more serious < 04Molly > would it trouble you were I to visit her? < 08@Morgan > if you feel you need to... < 04Molly > I still find her company appealing < 08@Morgan > then you should visit her * Molly smiles < 04Molly > It would be nice to have someone to reminisce with whose childhood I know almost as well as mine own * @Morgan nods * Molly smiles cheekily < 04Molly > and I know very little of yours < 08@Morgan > that much is true... but that is relatively easily remedied < 04Molly > Ah but have I not always been careful in not forcing your confidence? < 08@Morgan > quite so * Molly smiles playfully, moving away from the well and closer beside him < 04Molly > then you must see that the remedy must be from your volunteering, rather than my questioning? * @Morgan shrugs < 08@Morgan > but without guidance as to your interest, a proper path cannot be found * Molly laughs loudly < 04Molly > Well, let us proceed towards Mr Jameson's, and I shall guide you * @Morgan nods * Molly walks close beside him < 04Molly > Where to begin... oh yes... what is your earliest childhood memory? * @Morgan thinks intently < 08@Morgan > strangely enough... church * Molly looks very intrigued < 04Molly > In sudlachenburg? < 08@Morgan > aye < 04Molly > How old were you? < 08@Morgan > oh, I dont know... four or five maybe... maybe older < 04Molly > were your parents there? < 08@Morgan > aye < 04Molly > can you recall why you were there? < 08@Morgan > just a normal service I think < 04Molly > what is it that you remember? < 08@Morgan > the light shining through the window, lighting the floor * Molly smiles < 04Molly > that sounds pretty < 08@Morgan > it was < 04Molly > was edward born then? * @Morgan tilts his head < 08@Morgan > he must have been < 04Molly > did you all attend the church with the villagers,or did your family have a seperate service? < 08@Morgan > normally we had a seperate service, when circumstance allowed... < 04Molly > why, dear one? < 08@Morgan > why what? < 04Molly > why did you have a seperate service? < 08@Morgan > I'm not entirely sure actually * Molly nods < 04Molly > possibly just a tradition < 08@Morgan > probably... for the most part I preferred taking service with the villagers * Molly smiles warmly at him < 04Molly > I rather thought you might. did that ever cause disagreement between you and your parents? < 08@Morgan > not particularly < 04Molly > how often did you go to service? < 08@Morgan > every sunday, more often if I could... * Molly becomes solemn < 04Molly > So once your faith was very important to you * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > did you have nannies? < 08@Morgan > aye... not that they could keep track of us * Molly laughs < 04Molly > you were disobediant? < 08@Morgan > not in the slightest... < 08@Morgan > you cant disobey a command to stay in the house if you're already gone before they can make it * Molly grins < 04Molly > "the devil's in the details, liebes herz" ((its something he said to her before)) < 08@Morgan > so it is < 04Molly > were your nannies nice? < 08@Morgan > I think so... I dont really remember them < 04Molly > No? < 08@Morgan > not particularly... didn't exactly spend a lot of time with them < 04Molly > I think Mama would have welcomed the help of a nanny < 08@Morgan > probably < 04Molly > though I do not think I would have enjoyed it much, I always enjoyed being with Mama, I cannot imagine being raised by another * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > Tis rare in poor families, though it does seem to make children closer to their mothers that way... I cannot ever imagine that... *she blushes furiously* ummmm... did you spend much time with your mother? < 08@Morgan > as much as I could < 04Molly > what memories from childhood have yo of her? < 08@Morgan > mostly her teaching me to speak Avalonian actually * Molly smiles < 04Molly > was she a good teacher? < 08@Morgan > you no like ze vay I talk ze avalonian? * Molly laughs, and has to try very hard not to be too familiar with him publicly < 04Molly > I referred more to her methods than her results < 08@Morgan > ah... she was very patient < 04Molly > I doubt that, with your intelligence, you were a difficult pupil < 08@Morgan > I dont know... learning both languages, all the normal things that noble children are taught * Molly smiles sweetly < 04Molly > but forchunatally, us poor yokel chillun is needing none of these speshul noble learnings, so we has more time for fun * @Morgan laughs hard * Molly laughs as well < 04Molly > so, what lessons did you learn, dear one? < 08@Morgan > the usual... diplomacy, politics... * @Morgan sighs slightly * Molly looks to him < 08@Morgan > tactics of war < 04Molly > But the war is over now, surely such things will no longer be taught to eisen noble children? < 08@Morgan > no... no, war is our national export * Molly looks at him sadly < 04Molly > surely there must be other things that Eisen could become rich or well-respected from? < 08@Morgan > not really... not with Vendel resitricting our trade, refusing our currency < 08@Morgan > besides... we've done it for so long, its what we know < 04Molly > I do not think I've ever seen an eisen coin... why do the vendel behave so? * @Morgan sighs < 08@Morgan > I have no idea * Molly speaks quietly < 04Molly > little men... < 04Molly > they restrict the Eisen trade because Eisen is not in a unified position to throw off such shakes. It reduces the competition, and allows the Vendels to charge extortionate fees in their monopoly... < 08@Morgan > quite so * Molly whispers conspiritorily < 04Molly > Its enough to make me doubt the heritage of some of our acquaintences < 08@Morgan > oh? < 04Molly > extortionate fees, pushing out other businesses that may be competition * @Morgan nods < 04Molly > it would certainly explain why they could not be traced in eisen < 08@Morgan > tis quite so... it wouldn't really surprise me... though how they got panzerhands... < 04Molly > Am I right in thinking they belong exclusively to the noble families? < 08@Morgan > indeed < 04Molly > so they must be nobility then? < 08@Morgan > in theory * Molly looks very thoughtful < 04Molly > farming children are taught how to maintain a farm... or boys at least. Girls, we're taught how to keep a home, and be mothers and wives...*she blushes* well, housewives at least * @Morgan nods * Molly looks away < 04Molly > what else do you remember from childhood? < 08@Morgan > all sorts of things < 08@Morgan > firing my first rifle, holding my first sword... < 04Molly > was that strange, scary < 04Molly > ? < 08@Morgan > which one? * Molly grins < 04Molly > either... both < 08@Morgan > the first sword... a little scary... I was taught, partly, to fight by one of the farmers... < 04Molly > really? I would have thought such an education would have fallen to your father < 08@Morgan > I did say partly * Molly laughs softly < 04Molly > how did such come about? < 08@Morgan > a broad education is a good education * Molly giggles, having clearly thought something inappropriate < 08@Morgan > its attributed to my... unorthodox fighting style < 04Molly > Did you seek out such an education? * @Morgan shakes his head < 08@Morgan > not at all < 04Molly > I am intrigued as to how such came about < 08@Morgan > my... mother believed that it would serve two purposes... one that I would get a broader experience and not rely on, say, military style training... and the other was reinforcing the respect I had for the villagers * Molly laughs softly < 04Molly > I think she was certainly correct in the second notion < 08@Morgan > probably... it made me rather unpopular when I was at war < 04Molly > why, dear one? < 08@Morgan > I was in a platoon with men who were trained in the best acadamy's.... yet I was unpredictable in my swordskills < 04Molly > but impressive and effiecient < 08@Morgan > perhaps... but those who dedicated many years to war are quite upset when someone trained by a farm hand can outwield them < 04Molly > but when everyone is trained the same,on both sides, the attack and defense strokes are known to both? The moment a certain stroke is made, the suceeding strokes and parries follow, the outcome usually the same... you did not use the strokes they anticipated? < 08@Morgan > quite < 08@Morgan > that and they didn't like the fact that my waiting stance isn't the usual pose adopted < 04Molly > is it not? * @Morgan shakes his head < 08@Morgan > it is now, if I'm sparring... * Molly watches, waiting for him to continue Session Close: Wed Jun 17 04:42:04 2009
