< 04Molly > 13 4 Around the back of the house stands the well. It is the next morning, and having been up for hours, Molly now pulls at the long rope to draw up the water. She turns, looking up at the house, to her bedroom window, and sighs. The rope catches and she begins to mutter * Evie walks almost silently around the grounds, doing her usual patrol of the grounds, yet she is not bored. The ever present smile remains on her face as her dainty feet walk upon the Earth's surface. She looks up at the magnificant gatehouse and frowns "Fecking little shite" She subconsciously rubs the side of her neck- where the creature got her. She continues her walk around to the back of the house, hand resting nea * Evie rests her hand near her mace as usual, she listens and watches her surrounding intently, expecting trouble, since there always seems to be some near the time of gatherings. * Molly struggles with the bucket, it obviously caught somehow, her frustration building. < 04Molly > 13dann abhauen! * Evie suddenly hears a voice by the well and quickens her pace towards the noise, tension rising not recognising the language, her grip tightens around the mace, she breaks into a half run, yet remains relatively quiet * Molly drops the rope back down, and stares at the well, thoughts a million miles away * Evie unsheathes her mace and bursts round the corner in a matter of seconds * Molly turns around looking at her hands, locking and then unlocking her fingers together * Molly suddenly spots Evie, and drops her hands to her sides < 04Molly > 13Were you looking for me? * Evie skids to a halt and takes a deep breath, when she exhales-she slouches < 14Evie > "_that_ was close...what the feck does Dan owbun mean anyway?" She sheathes her mace * Molly looks at Evie < 04Molly > 13The bucket was stuck, and I lost my temper, unusual for me... * Molly looks away * Evie sighs < 14Evie > Need help with that anyway? < 04Molly > 13Yes, I think perhaps we might manage to dislodge it, if we can it will saving me going to Morgan * Molly takes up the rope * Evie peers down the well "what is it actually stuck on?" < 04Molly > 13I am unsure... * Molly pulls on the rope, whereupon the bucket clunks loudly, hitched somehow < 04Molly > 13Perhaos if we both pull? < 14Evie > Alright then * Evie grabs the rope, she puts her one foot on the well * Molly pulls hard, straining with the effort, her breathing heavy < 04Molly > 13 4 With a thunk, the bucket comes free, up and over the top of the well, water everywhere. * Molly laughs * Evie giggles < 14Evie > Not exactly how i intended...*She looks at her dress* At least im not wearing anything white *she giggles again* < 04Molly > 13Indeed, being soaked through in white is never very modest... * Molly shivers * Evie gets the bottom of her skirt, and wrings it, a tiny bit of water comes out < 14Evie > Shall we attempt to get an actual bucket of water then? *She smiles* < 04Molly > 13Yes, I think so * Molly lowers the bucket over, and quickly draw back up a full pail < 14Evie > Ahh...thats better < 14Evie > Where does this have to go anyway? i'll help you carry it, if its heavy * Molly laughs < 04Molly > 13I am not so weak that I can not carry it, just not as adapt at using my strength as you * Molly looks at the mace < 04Molly > 13Though perhaps not for long... * Evie smiles < 14Evie > Well, even if you are learning how to use a weapon...as long as i am here, i plan for you never to _have_ to use one < 04Molly > 13I hope that will be the case, though I am aware that neither you nor Morgan will always be able to defend me * Evie looks uncomfortable < 14Evie > Well, i know i cant defend someone all the time... just.. I am prepared to sacrifice anything of mine so you shall live since you are under my protection * Molly smiles at her < 04Molly > 13That is not the first time I have heard such promises... < 04Molly > 13I would no more rely solely upon you for such, nor would I have you rely solely on me to heal your wounds * Evie shrugs < 14Evie > i can look after meself... < 04Molly > 13Have you fared well whilst I have been away? * Evie nods < 14Evie > Aye, bit boring to be honest...none of the other staff really talk to me < 04Molly > 13They are all wary of intereacting with the guests... for the most part, such familiarity between us is scarce in our world * Evie sighs in annoyance < 14Evie > i forgot, only you and morgan know of my true reasoning for being here < 14Evie > does Master Jaeger know yet? < 04Molly > 13I have not spoken to him much since my return, for I have been so busy. Would you rather he not know? < 14Evie > I don't know, for i know no husband and wife should keep a secret, so i suppose i don't mind. but i was under the impression no one but the three of us should know? not even the lady herself.. * Molly looks confused < 04Molly > 13the Lady knows all, to my belief * Evie also looks confused < 14Evie > where did you hear that? or who did you hear that from? * Molly realises the error < 04Molly > 13Oh, not lady catherine, I meant..., it is unimportant. You're right, husbands and wifes should have no secrets twixt them * Evie realises what Molly means and smiles < 14Evie > Well obviously _the_ lady knows.. well, erm-since Morgan employed me, maybe you should ask him whether it is ok? im not sure how imprtant the secrecy is for him * Molly looks away < 04Molly > 13I think perhaps I shall not mention it to Jaeger, and you may decide to share it yourself, if you will * Evie shrugs "i'm not too bothered if he does or doesn't know, i imagine the secrecy is so enemies don't know...and Jaeger, from what i seen, does not plan the hurt Lady catherine. You can tell him if you wish" < 04Molly > 13Was it agreed upon between you and Morgan that you would not speak of it? < 14Evie > Ummm *she thinks back to the conversation* I think so, but we wouldn't be speaking it, you would * Evie smiles * Molly looks up at the house, and yawns slightly < 04Molly > 13Still, I would feel it wiser to hold my own counsel, not everything must be spoke of to those who do not need to know < 04Molly > 13If Morgan wished you not to speak of it, then he must have good reason for such, as always < 14Evie > I suppose < 14Evie > Have you got all your outfits for the monastry sorted? * Molly smiles < 04Molly > 13Yes, I have. I shall wear the red dress tha... the red dress for the evening time I believe * Molly blushes * Evie thinks < 14Evie > im not sure what to wear for evening....the velvet dress seems too...noble for me, and well..it doesnt exactly hold the best of memories * Molly looks puzzled < 04Molly > 13Does it not? < 14Evie > Morgan bought it while we were still courting * Molly looks away < 04Molly > 13Oh, I am sorry... it might be better not to wear it, if all you would think about was how you came to have it.... But it is a beautiful dress, and it seems a shame to waste it < 14Evie > I know, it is beautiful.. < 14Evie > Well, the waistcoat is reversible < 04Molly > 13I think were it me, I would still wear it... * Evie smiles < 14Evie > Yeah, i can do < 14Evie > Anyway, this water needs putting whereever < 04Molly > 13In the kitchen would be best * Molly takes the pail up, and heads to the kitchen * Evie follows her < 14Evie > I know it is a bit cheeky, and i know i normally wait-but do you think cook would be ok making me something for breakfast...im starving < 04Molly > 13I shall do it for you, I need to practise now so that I am ready for my duties as a wife... * Molly pushes in to the kitchen, setting the pail aside * Evie smiles < 14Evie > o have a few innish recipes if you ever want to know them...as i said the other day though, innish food isnt always to everyones taste.. * Molly takes the breakfast foods from the larder, and prepares them < 04Molly > 13I should be pleased to see them, for everyone needs variety < 14Evie > I'll have to cook them for us one day...when cook is in a sharing mood.. * Molly grins < 04Molly > 13Yes, that would be nice * Molly goes to the diningroom door, looking out to ensure no-one else waits for breakfast. Seeing no-one, she comes back in. * Evie speaks in a very hushes voice, looking around briefly to make sure no-one is around. < 14Evie > *hushed < 14Evie > Do you actually know what a marriage, sworn in front of _her_ actually entails? < 14Evie > i use this wording incase my eyes have not seen someone who is close * Molly looks at her, speaking quietly also < 04Molly > 13I believe it involves making promises to love, honour and cherish someone under her sight, and if you choose it, through out all your lives, even after death < 14Evie > so its the same process? just the words you choose to say in a different place to a church? < 04Molly > 13For the most part, yes. I think it is what is in your hearts that matters... * Molly burns herself on a hot pan, wincing in pain < 14Evie > Molly...i will cook it if you want < 14Evie > run your tap under the hot water, i shall do my breakfast < 14Evie > ((LOL, run your hand)) < 14Evie > ((and cold water)) < 04Molly > 13((wanna edit for the fact that home plumbing didnt exist?)) * Evie notices the burn < 14Evie > Molly, put your hand in that bucket of water...I'll cook me breakfast, i feel like cooking anyway * Molly moves over, putting her hand in the water. She closes her eyes < 04Molly > 13As you wish... < 04Molly > 13When you prepare for your own wedding, I am sure you will be able to find someone more knowledgeable than I to advise you in the old ways * Evie looks at Molly < 14Evie > well...where we lived...there were a lot of *she quitens her voice* pagans...but we still kept it very secret, in case someone heard < 14Evie > I shall ask around one day, when i go to get Brenna too *she adds some eggs to a pan* < 04Molly > 13You will find it is harder to find those beliefs here, it is a dying religion, and perhaps that is the way it must be... hide something too well and it quickly fades from the minds of all... * Molly removes her hand from the pan, and touches the burnt fingertip to her mouth < 14Evie > I'm inclined to agree, for all i know, the little village by where i lived could be the only one where a group of us live < 04Molly > 13It is very sad, but all things change... By the time my own children marry, I should doubt the question of the type of ceremony will even apply * Evie sighs < 14Evie > it is a shame, in some way, i wish they worship a god, instead of the lady-i mean, it would make them safe * Evie tips the eggs onto a nearby plate "that will do, i don't want a lot" < 04Molly > 13Sometimes the easy way is preferable... < 14Evie > i can't protect people forever physically, eventually i will have to rely solely on my suggestions to guide people to safety < 14Evie > even if it collides with my personal beliefs < 04Molly > 13I understand... it is a tough choice to make, but sometimes the needs of others must come first * Molly looks out of the window in to the courtyard * Evie sighs yet again < 14Evie > Yeah..fancy a cup of tea? while im here might as well put the kettle on.. < 04Molly > 13Yes, I will, thank you * Evie fills a kettle with water < 14Evie > so, what am i ment to wear as the maid of honout? < 04Molly > 13I believe you would normally wear your best dress < 14Evie > is it ok if i wear my tartan? i know its not my most luxurious dress... < 14Evie > but its my family tartan < 04Molly > 13If you wish to, you are more than welcome to * Morgan [~madison@host86-159-28-236.range86-159.btcentralplus.com] is on IRC (00:00) [ 2:07am ] Morgan (~madison@host86-159-28-236.range86-159.btcentralplus.com) has joined but is a 4Clone of Molly & seventhseabot 12 12 « 114 people 12 » < 14Evie > I will do * Evie hushes her voice again * Molly stands looking out of the window, sucking her burnt finger < 14Evie > i shall try and see if i can remember any pagan traditions for the wedding that doesnt look too suspicious if you want * Morgan enters the kitchen from the servants dining room < 04Molly > 13I would still rather not use them, but I appreciate the offer < 14Morgan > would rather not use what? * Molly jumps, suprised by his presense. She looks at the floor, obviously anxious < 04Molly > 13We were discussing the wedding * Evie also jumps at looks out the window * Morgan narrows his eyes < 14Morgan > dont let me interrupt * Molly looks to Evie < 04Molly > 13I thought perhaps I would see if Inigo would write the ceremony for us... * Evie smiles * Morgan goes to a counter and produces an apple and a sharp knife and begins to peel < 14Evie > He is a very talented writer *she looks at Molly* well at poetry anyway, from what i have seen hm write * Molly goes to the kettle, taking it off the boil < 04Molly > 13I would be eager to see his work. Tea, Morgan? * Morgan speaks without looking round < 14Morgan > please * Molly pours three cups of tea. As she picks up a cup, in each hand, she winces slightly * Morgan slices the apple while speaking < 14Morgan > hmmm... you know, its funny... * Molly hands a cup to evie, freeing up her right hand, upon which she rubs her thumb over the burnt fingertip * Molly comes to him with the tea, eyebrows raised in question < 14Morgan > I could've sworn I heard mention of pagan traditions * Evie looks at Molly, her eyes widening * Molly sighs, handing him the cup. She moves back to her own cup < 14Evie > Shall i eat this in here? or in the servants quarters? * Molly looks quickly to Morgan < 14Morgan > I'm sorry, perhaps my statement was innocuous... < 14Morgan > _did_ I hear such a thing? * Evie gives a pleading look to Molly < 04Molly > 13It is I who should be sorry, I thought I spoke quieter than I had... * Molly drops her eyes from Morgan, biting her lip < 14Morgan > is that so? * Molly nods, tears in her eyes, unable to speak * Morgan speaks without looking away from the apple < 14Morgan > Were anyone here to bring the ire of the inquisitors upon this house, their pokers and racks would be the least of that persons worries once I found out. Am I making myself clear to all parties? * Molly speaks quietly, her voice wavering < 04Molly > 13Yes, I understand. It will not happen again * Morgan nods < 14Morgan > Eiblinn, is there an understanding between us? < 14Evie > Same * Evie also speaks quietly, just like a guilty child "Yeah...Sorry" * Molly picks up her cup, switching it quickly from left to right < 04Molly > 13(right to left*) < 14Evie > Well i am going to go into the servants dining room and eat this...its a lot warmer in there < 04Molly > 13I think I shall have to take another look at the well this afternoon... * Molly looks at the fire that burns in the kitchen to cook on, puzzled < 14Morgan > there is something wrong with the well? * Evie giggles, thinking of this morning-she leaves to the dining area < 04Molly > 13I was unable to remove the bucket, and I.. and Evie came around the house, and between us we were able to remove it * Molly watches her go < 04Molly > 13Fortunate really, for had I not had the water, this burn would have been more uncomfortable * Morgan stops cutting the apple < 14Morgan > you've burned yourself? < 14Morgan > oh well done. How've you managed that? < 04Molly > 13Yes, on a pan... You might think I would have learnt better from so many years in service to know better < 14Morgan > you really must be more careful < 04Molly > 13I know, it was an incredibly foolish thing to do * Molly tidies the kitchen < 14Morgan > imagine what Jaeger would think were I to allow you to be harmed in the last few months of service here * Evie walks back into the room with an empty plate and a small smile on her face < 04Molly > 13Yes, I would be sad if my injury caused you blame * Molly looks at him < 04Molly > 13I will endeavour to be more careful * Evie puts the plate in the bowl * Molly looks at Evie < 04Molly > 13Have you plans for this afternoon? * Evie turns around, seeing Molly is looking at her, she assumes that she is being addressed. < 14Evie > Umm...no i dont think so, just a few patrols here and there < 14Evie > Why? < 04Molly > 13I am suprised you have not been keen to go to the village, now that the house is in Morgan's capable hands... * Molly turns a wooden spoon over and over in her hands, idly < 14Evie > I havn't had a day off from work...not that i am keen to go to the village, i only go there to do what i need < 14Evie > i like the grounds of this place.. < 04Molly > 13It is beautiful, but the world is so much bigger than this house and it's surroundings! I might walk to the village either this afternoon, or on the morrow * Molly returns to her cup, and drinks her tea * Evie shrugs < 14Evie > Well, if Morgan lets me have an afternoon off, i shall accompany you if you want *she turns to Morgan* that wasn't a suggestion, merely a statement by the way *she smiles, she then turns her attention out of the window* < 04Molly > 13I would welcome the company down to the village, but I shall not be stopping there, for I am of a mind to visit my parents... * Molly 's words trail off, and she looks at Morgan < 14Morgan > you plan to speak with your father? * Molly nods < 04Molly > 13I would, yes < 04Molly > 13The wedding approaches rapidly, and there must be discussion of the dowry I ought to have... * Evie finishes her cup of tea * Morgan nods < 14Evie > well, i think i will start packing for the monastry while i have some free time, Molly, if you want me to help with anything, i shall be in my room < 14Evie > likewise Morgan.. * Molly looks at Evie, after a pause < 14Evie > Anything you wish to discuss before i go? < 04Molly > 13I shall call to you if I require anything of you < 14Evie > As you wish *she inclines her head to Molly*..Morgan? * Morgan shakes his head < 14Evie > ok then * Molly turns to the window, looking out * Evie goes out of the kitchen, she starts singing an old innish song to herself while heading for her room [ 3:13am ] Evie (LARPentert@82-36-245-150.cable.ubr04.wolv.blueyonder.co.uk) has parted. 12 « 113 people 12 » * Evie [LARPentert@82-36-245-150.cable.ubr04.wolv.blueyonder.co.uk] has left IRC * Molly turns back to Morgan, and sips her tea < 14Morgan > so... what about pagan traditions? * Molly looks away < 04Molly > 13A suggestion was made that I add some subtle pieces to the ceremony of significance < 14Morgan > what part of "I wont have that on this estate" does that girl not understand? * Molly bites her lip < 04Molly > 13I believe I am far from blame, for I seem unable to steer her off course < 14Morgan > her course is not your concern < 04Molly > 13It is when it causes me to earn your displeasure < 14Morgan > _my_ concern is that she willingly tries to find ways to disobey her employer by subterfuge. I cannot allow that. < 04Molly > 13She is very young for her age, and seems to not understand that above all rules of the house, above all fears of the inquisition, I will _not_ have the ceremony done that way * Molly turns away, putting the cup down hard on the table < 14Morgan > I shall discuss with her the importance of doing what she's told, lest she finds herself homeless < 04Molly > 13That is your choice, of course.
