The days have passed, almost in a blur, full of sight-seeing, shopping and laughter. Molly has seemed much lighter since leaving the house, less reserved. She has not mentioned again the events at the doctor, and has spoken little of Curtis or the house. Instead she mostly talks of Carleon, the things she's seen and how much she cares for the place. The evenings have passed pleasantly, and Molly feels better rested than ever, having not had to wake so early.Awakening three days before their expected departure, she dresses quickly, after washing and putting on some rose water. Knowing that today's endeavour was that which she had come for, to have a mirror, she can barely contain herself. She paces by the adjoining door, wondering if it is too early to knock. * @Morgan 's voice can be heard from within, a soft mumbling, but not of the tone of speach, rather one of song * Molly smiles, and knocks again, slightly louder <@Morgan> Come in * Molly enters, wearing a smart red bodice with red skirt over her shift, the same dress she nearly drowned in, her hatred of it having recovered. She grins at him, her face radiant I am glad you are already awake, for I am so eager to make our way to the merchants that any longer a wait and I might have gone mad! <@Morgan> gone? * @Morgan raises an eyebrow, eyes sparking with mischief * Molly looks at him in mock indignation Me, mad indeed? Then I should need locking away somewhere, far from contact with such others that might increase my madness * @Morgan rises from the chair <@Morgan> I suppose we may as well make a start Oh, yes please... * Molly goes back to her room, picking up her bag, which, with the books left on the night stand carries nought but bandages, old habits dying hard * Molly returns to his room, cloak over her arm and bag on her shoulder I am ready <@Morgan> right * @Morgan heads out * Molly follows him, automatically following a few steps behind, before she remembers. She catches up to him, walking closely beside him. She looks at him with a smile Do you know where we are to go? <@Morgan> I've an idea, yes They pass the desk, the same gentleman there who checked them in. He smiles at them Good morning Lord Koertig. I hope you and your Companion are finding our hospitality to your satisfaction? <@Morgan> so far, yes. Certainly the food is very good I am most glad to hear it. He looks back to his work Have a nice day * Molly smiles at Morgan, taking his hand in hers to help confirm the ruse * @Morgan nods And you, good sir * Molly walks out of the lobby, allowing Morgan's pace to guide her <@Morgan> you have an idea of the sort of mirror you would like? * Molly looks at him, her eyes playful. Perhaps one that shows me all the good things that you and others see in me? No, I would like something that sits well on the dresser. * @Morgan nods slowly A coach waits in the yard, as requested. The day is cold but fair, sunshine brightening the red-gold leaves of the trees in the yard. Molly goes to the coach, eager to go. * Molly gets in as the coachman opens the door, and she sits herself beside the window. She starts to hum softly to herself * @Morgan climbs in after * Molly smiles, still humming. She looks out of the window I must also look for a dress @Morgan> a dress? Yes, I shall need to buy a new one for the wedding * @Morgan nods * Molly still smiles, but it is slightly less bright <@Morgan> I hadn't thought of that I must confess, I had forgotten until now * Molly looks back to him I think we shall look for a mirror first, if it pleases you? <@Morgan> whatever you desire * Molly smiles, she looks out of the window, her eyes taking in the city and its ways I like the city perhaps too well... or at the very least, I like what I have seen of it * @Morgan nods <@Morgan> its an easy plaec to like Tell me, if you would, are other cities as lovely? <@Morgan> numa is, in its own way... though that may have something to do with its inhabitants They must be as beautiful as all the books say then, for the drawings of Numa show it is exquisite * Molly looks back at him, drawing her eyes from the street * @Morgan shrugs non commitally <@Morgan> I've seen better... though that may be favouritism showing I would imagine that you would always be inclined to favour the looks of the ladies of your own country, with their fair hair and sky blue eyes... <@Morgan> I was more referring to the city Oh, I see * Molly looks away What of Freiburg, is it a beautiful city also? <@Morgan> I happen to think so I should like to see it one day, see all the great cities of Theah... <@Morgan> I've no doubt you will I would imagine so... The coach stops, just inside the embassy district, a few streets from the doctor's office. The street is busy, lined with small merchants shops, haberdasheries, barbers, dress-makers, and more importantly, a mirror shop. Molly looks at it through the window, it's white wooden framed glass displaying behind it many different mirrors, wood frame, metal frame, big and small. She looks to Morgan, her face beaming. <@Morgan> come on then * Molly moves to the door, getting out on to the street * @Morgan climbs out of the carriage * Molly waits for him to lead the way * @Morgan pushes his way into the shop At the doorway, the shop is large, flanked by two big display windows on either side of the door, which stands open in welcome. Molly enters, looking around to ensure she can not bump into anything. She keeps her hands flat by her side. Seeing all the mirrors, she lets out a slight gasp, amazed at the choice and beauty of them. Oh my goodness Morgan, look at all these mirrors! <@Morgan> I'd prefer not to * Molly looks at him, puzzled I fear I do not undertand... <@Morgan> I dont like mirrors particularly Really?! I would have thought that a man who.... * Molly tails off, looking embarassed She turns, moving slowly, her image repeated time and time again, broken only by the frames. She looks at a full length mirror, smoothing down her skirt, and then moves from mirror to mirror, not touching with her hands, but with her eyes. There are no prices on any of them, always a mark of an expensive store. There is no shopkeeper to be seen, which is unsuprising as the store is so big. <@Morgan> come on, lets find one for you * Molly smiles, relieved not to be pressed on her slip * Molly looks to him, watching his behaviour * @Morgan stands, not looking in any mirror, but around the room The shopkeeper is stood at the far end, watching them discreetly * Molly looks at a mirror, without a frame, joined by 3 tiny silver hinges for that the side panels cane be angled. Oh, that is very beautiful, I dread to think how much such a thing must be worth * Molly moves on, seeing a circular mirror, it's frame painted red with a large yellow flower. I would have loved this one as a child, but it would scarce match the dresser... With a smile, she makes a beeline for another mirror. It is wooden framed, the edges cut in to a wavy pattern. It is simplistic, but has a gentle charm to it. Of all of them, it looks the least expensive I believe I like this one best... <@Morgan> yes? * Molly looks to him You have seen the room, would it not go well with the other things therein? <@Morgan> indeed it would * Molly smiles, touching the frame gently * Molly looks lost in thought The shopkeeper comes over to them, a small older man, bearing more than a little resemblance to Mr Jameson from Lower Tawstock. Looking at Morgan, he speaks Do you require any help? <@Morgan> I believe the young lady wishes to enquire about that mirror * Molly looks up shyly I wonder if you might tell me how much it is? He looks at her, and it is clear that he sees a girl with money to her name, not a hint of a poor housekeeper from the countryside. Yes my lady, it is twelve guilder, and I can wrap it for you, if you wish. * Molly smiles at him, trying to cover her suprise at the expense of it, knowing that it would be a whole year's wages. She looks to Morgan to establish his opinion <@Morgan> excuse me, I could swear you said twelve I did <@Morgan> I see I could possibly come down to eleven... * @Morgan nods slowly <@Morgan> I'm sure that you wouldn't wish such a beautiful young lady to be dispirited by the cost of such things on her first visit to this fair city? * Molly looks at the floor, blushing The shopkeeper looks at her No, you are certainly right, for such a beautiful lady should be able to appraise her looks for herself, without the price being high... How about nine? * @Morgan looks at Molly <@Morgan> is that agreeable to you, my lady? * Molly looks up, her face very flushed, not used to being complimented so much. I am certain that it is a good price... * Molly looks at the purse on Morgan's belt where the money from jaeger is, not 100% certain that Morgan still wishes to buy it as a gift <@Morgan> we will take it He takes the mirror from the table carefully Very good, if you and your lady would like to follow me, I shall wrap it for you * @Morgan follows the shopkeeper * Molly follows after them, still wary of breaking anything, especially as she now knows their values He wraps it in tissue paper, folding it carefully, and the in brown paper, before tying it with thick twine That should be safe like that... That will be nine guilders then please... * Molly stands very still, watching Morgan, trying to see what she should do * @Morgan digs his hand into his pouch, before dropping ten on the counter He takes it, finding a shiny guilder coin in a puch behind the counter. He hands it over. Thank you , sir, I hope it beings you much joy. * Molly smiles, feeling much happier to know he still wished to buy it * @Morgan places the shiny guilder back on the counter <@Morgan> I would not do a good man out of earnings. He smiles, nodding his head in a bow You are a true gentleman, young man. I believe that trait makes you a very lucky lady, Miss. * Molly smiles at him, remebering that the whole city is supposed to believe her to be his Companion * @Morgan nods to the shopkeeper <@Morgan> good day sir * Molly goes to reply, and doesn't speak. Good day to you both * Molly takes the parcel from his hands, holding it carefully, keeping it close to her chest lest she drops it. She walks slowly towards the door * Molly goes back to the coach * @Morgan follows * Molly opens the door and gets in, opening up the compartment under the seat when people normallt store their expensive possiesions. She puts the mirror in, and shuts it carefully. * Molly steps back down to the street, and speaks softly Thank you Morgan, from the bottom of my heart... <@Morgan> you are very welcome my lady * Molly looks at him, as if she is about to speak further, struggling against it. Then she looks away, her voice returning to normal I would like to look at the dresses, though I shall understand if you wish to remain behind <@Morgan> no no, I would not leave you alone in this city I am afraid it might be an ardous task.. <@Morgan> may I remind you... I serve Lady Torrington... who insists on inviting the undesirable sorts into the very place she should be safest... arduous is nothing compared to that * Molly grins at him As you will... The shop next to the mirror shop is a dress shop, and Molly goes to it. She pushes the door open, which rings with a small bell. Immediately she is conversing with the shop assistant, a plain young woman. They discuss Molly's requirements, the conversation hurried and full of boring details, of lace, silk, velvet, of blue and purple and pink... She is shown many lovely gowns, and picks 3 to try on. She is led behind a heavy damask curtain, where the assistant helps her in to each dress. They discuss the fit, and the colour, of each one, until Molly can be heard expressing her favouritism of the purple one. From behind the curtain, he can hear them Yes, I believe this is the one I like. Might I show it to the gentleman who Accompanies me? Yes, my lady, would you like me to do your hair a moment? That would be very nice, thank you There is a few minutes of quiet, and then My lady, you are ready... I believe I have never seen that dress look as well on anyone... I will open the curtain for you She pulls pack the curtain, and Molly stands there. She looks every inch a true lady, no longer a poor servant. She smiles, and her eyes sparkle. The beauty of the dress highlights her own, which is more visible than normal. The dress is a satin purple corset over a white shift, with a full purple velvet skirt beneath. Her deep red hair is stacked high upon her head, curls framing her face. In it, there are tiny purple flowers pinned. She looks more beautiful than ever. * Molly smiles at him What think you? <@Morgan> I think you rival the most beautiful woman I have ever seen * Molly grins at him, biting her lip I believe that might be the highest praise I could ever have dreamt of. * @Morgan chuckles at an inner thought <@Morgan> you are having that one? * Molly looks slightly puzzled at his chuckle Think so, will it be appropriate for my wedding? <@Morgan> I should imagine so * Molly turns around, showing him the back. It is clear how much her figure has changed in the last few months, the corset pulling her waist very narrow above he wide hips Does it look well from the back? <@Morgan> indeed it does * Molly turns, smiling at him I shall have this one then... I best not wear it back to the inn, for I would not be able to remove it! * @Morgan nods slowly * Molly turns to the assistant I shall take it, but I will need your aid to remove the corset. And I should like it wrapped well, for I shall not open it again until my wedding morn... * Molly goes back behind the curtain. Her demeanour is very different in this shop, almost as if being a lady comes naturally to her. The assistant follows her, and after a few minutes, the assistant returns with the dress folded nicely, in the other hand several hair decorations. She wraps it up as Molly comes back out * Molly goes to Morgan's side, speaking quietly Might I have that purse you were given? The package wrapped in many tight layers, the assistant waits at the counter * @Morgan hands it over * Molly takes it, going to the counter The assistant looks up. She pushes the package over. Eight guilder please * Molly opens the purse, looking at the coins in there, expecting 10, but finding 15. She looks at Morgan in puzzlement, before wuickly turning back and paying the money. She picks up the packaging Good luck with the wedding, my lady. Thankyou, you've been very helpful. * Molly smiles at Morgan. She is back in her red dress, but her hair is still piled up fetchingly. She touches it as she walks to the door * @Morgan follows on behind I am glad she showed me how to do my hair like this, for I never would have been able to without instruction * Molly leaves the shop, bundle under her arm. She goes to the coach, and waits for Morgan to get in * @Morgan motions for Molly to get in first * Molly gets in first, putting the bundle in the storage under the seat. Although she normally sits on that side, she sits on the other, afraid of breaking the mirror. * @Morgan climbs into the coach and sits down * Molly waits til the door has been shut, and turns to him with a smile I can not imagine having always been able to go to such shops a buy things... it must be very strange to have wanted for nothing * @Morgan shrugs <@Morgan> for the most part it was like that growing up, but once I was married... the things we had we made Was that from choice, or necessity though? <@Morgan> choice Have you anything you need doing before we return to the inn? * @Morgan thinks for a moment <@Morgan> I would meet with a man in the docks * Molly smiles Would you have me go with you, or return to the inn? <@Morgan> you can come if you wish I would prefer to... Will you also have me behave as your Companion there? <@Morgan> you behave as you wish, my lady * Molly looks at him, with a soft smile. She takes his hand in hers, and looks out of the window, her face turned away, the pink in her cheeks visible Perhaps I shall... After being given instruction, the coach passes through the embassy district whilst Molly takes in the scenery. They have not been through it on their sight-seeing, and Molly comments every now and then on the beauty of the place. Soon it merges in to the wharf district, where there are many more common people. The coach pulls up on the docks as directed, where there is a tall man, blonde and blue-eyed, as is the way of many eisener. He is handsome, and has the look of a ladies man about him. He stands beside an impressive ship, often used for passengers as well as cargo. He makes many trips to and from Eisen. He watches the coach pull up, slightly puzzled. The coachman comes to the door, and asks that he might rest his horses in the yard of the Badger and Ferret whilst the business is done * @Morgan nods and climbs from the coach * Molly shuffles towards the door Holzheim looks at Morgan, recognition in his eyes. He comes over, speaking in Eisen Good afternoon, Lord Koertig, seek you passage? * Molly gets out of the coach so that it can be moved, standing beside Morgan closely as a Companion would <@Morgan> #good afternoon captain, how fare you?# I am well, the seas favour my voyages, and Eisen repairs itself in degrees. And your good self? His eyes flick quickly to Molly, who catches them with a smile <@Morgan> #Things progress as ever. You have some ale, I understand?# He looks back at Morgan Indeed I do, shall I fetch it for you? <@Morgan> #I would be grateful ,truly# He smiles at Molly, then Morgan, and goes back on the ship and below deck * Molly looks at Morgan He seems very pleasant <@Morgan> He's a good man Is he from your village? <@Morgan> good lord no. My family have often sailed with him, though He returns with two flagons, handing them to Morgan I hope it does you well. Reside you here in Carleon? <@Morgan> #No Holzheim, I travel. There is much to be seen. Are you heading back to Eisen soon?# When the tide turns, yes. I see you do not travel alone? He looks at Molly again, smiling * Molly blushes, understanding little but recognising him as a charmer <@Morgan> #Indeed. This is my companion. I may have need to travel from Eisen back here in two months time# She does not look like an Eisen girl, does she speak Eisen? And you are welcome to travel with me whenever you require, I reach either port in four days, so the wait is always less than a week <@Morgan> #She speaks some, and her mind is dangerously sharp. You would very easily find yourself caught out.# * Molly smiles, eyes flicking to Morgan, a sign that she can understand a little of his warning #I understand a little, I find it a beautiful langauge...# He looks back at her with a smile, and then to Morgan. I am glad to have seen you, for I have some information that might be important to you.... <@Morgan> #oh?# * @Morgan looks concerned He looks at Molly with a slight tip of his head, implying that it might not be something she should know It is something of a private nature... <@Morgan> #I have few secrets from my companion. She guides me in my decisions# * Molly looks puzzled at their exchange, having recognised the word beleigter, meaning companion, but not the other words Very well... many moons ago I brought from Freiburg a man named Yensid. He struck me as a man of shady dealings, though I could not explain why my gut spoke thus. He was asking on my ship, and in the Badger and Ferret about you and your whereabouts. * @Morgan nods <@Morgan> #he has spoken to one of my friends here. He is a retainer for my family, and I would rather he not find me as I find him distasteful at best# All my men understand the rules of discretion, and know too well the perils of walking the plank in deep waters to risk my vexation by speaking of any passenger on enquiry. I could not speak for those drinkers in the tavern though * @Morgan smiles <@Morgan> #those in the tavern do not know of me# Then that is good news, for I was concerned. He grins at them both Would you have me spread any misinformation were I to be asked again? * @Morgan grins <@Morgan> #I'm sure you remember taking me to Vodacce #7thsea He grins, mock rememberance Of course, and you were sick as a dog all the way to Numa! And your young lady wandered above board whilst you slept it off! * @Morgan nods <@Morgan> #I remember it well# <@Morgan> #Tell me, do you know of Lady Sophia #? He thinks a bit The name rings a bell, but I know nothing that comes to my mind. I can make quiet enquiries, and see what I can discover when you require travel back to Avalon? <@Morgan> #Thank you# There is a shout from one of the crew, and Holzheim calls back that he will be along in a minute. Smiling at Molly, he takes her hand and kisses it. I am enchanted to make your acquaintance, safe travel... He turns to Morgan I shall see you in november, Lord Koertig. * @Morgan nods to Holzheim * Molly blushes, eyes downcast #Good bye sir# He shouts up at the crew, and runs to the ship * Molly turns to Morgan with a smile I feel better about your returning without us knowing you will be in safe hands... <@Morgan> he's... large, isn't he. Very... present * Molly blushes I think he is rather handsome... there seems a tendancy for it in Eiseners, I've not met one yet that has not possed good looks and a charming streak <@Morgan> its an act, I think * Molly walks towards the tavern, looking for the coach I can not comment on what truly lies in the nature of men, for I can only say what I see After finding the coachman, they return to their tavern. It is now early evening. Having sat beside him on the way back, Molly sits with her hands on the seat either side of her, unsure of whether to take his hand or not. The coach pulls in to the yard, and Molly gets out, taking the packages with her. After ordering dinner at the desk, they go to their rooms. * Molly sits in her room, having left the adjoing door open. She sits at the dresser, having unwrapped the mirror and placed it on there. She unwinds her hair, letting it flow back over her shoulders. She smiles slightly, running the silver brush through it * Molly sings to herself <@Morgan> can I assume you enjoyed yourself? Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, rosemary's green... * Molly jumps as she realises he's there Oh! Yes, I enjoyed it greatly <@Morgan> good * Molly turns from the mirror, still slowly brushing her hair. Putting the brush down, she shakes her hair over her shoulders in thick red waves I hope it was not too boring for you? <@Morgan> not at all * Molly smiles at him I have put my dress away safely, I hope it still looks as good in february as it did today, I have worked hard to improve my figure, and I should hate for my work to not pay off... <@Morgan> I'm sure it will * Molly goes to his side, and takes his hand Will you come and see the mirror? * @Morgan allows her to lead him * Molly stands beside the dresser, lets his hand go Is it not the best gift I've ever had? <@Morgan> surely not * Molly looks at him, her voice quiet It is... I have received few gifts in my life, but this is the greatest, most treasured... even more so than the red dress * Molly looks away quickly, having momentarily forgotten the origins of the dress, now remembering <@Morgan> A mirror? More treasured than the first gift from your future husband? * Molly looks at him, with a sigh It is far more treasured... and the dress was not a gift from Jaeger, was it? * Molly watches his reaction closely * @Morgan looks at the mirror <@Morgan> was it not? I discovered so when made a fool of myself by thanking Mr Jameson for advising Jaeger wisely on what I would like... * Molly blushes, and it does not occur to her that subconciously she is not using his first name <@Morgan> I see... then who bought it if not mr jaeger * Molly turns from him, tears in her eyes. She starts to feel her temper rise. Gods in Theah Morgan, you know the answer as well as I! You bought it for me, because you pitied me that Eiblinn had your affection and I had none. <@Morgan> pity? * @Morgan looks at the floor suddenly * Molly looks at him <@Morgan> I dont pity you Then why? Why buy it and not be truthful, if not to cover your feelings of pity? <@Morgan> I was not truthful because, at the time of my buying it, you were not involved with Jaeger. Imagine his outrage were he to think it was bought by a potential suitor But I could have told him that it was not bought by a potential suitor, but by you <@Morgan> and you think that is better? * Molly looks puzzled Yes, for he knows we are friends, and that your past would prevent anything occuring between us, even if you did have an interest in me... * @Morgan raises his head quickly, then looks away again <@Morgan> It was easier that way. And, were it not for that insufferable innish girl, you would be none the wiser and think of Jaeger as generous It was not any of Evie's making. It was my own fault for opening my mouth on the subject, and causing myself extreme discomfort. I _do_ think of Jaeger as generous, for taking a servant like me as his wife... the dress not being from him has not diminished him to my mind. <@Morgan> Then your issue would be what, exactly? * Molly looks away feeling chided That I thought you bought it out of pity for me, for having neither money nor passion <@Morgan> Think back, Molly... do I have pity for any person? * Molly looks at him, a submissiveness about her No... <@Morgan> indeed But then - Her words are broken off by a knock at the door, which she turns and answers. A serving boy places the food and wine at the table. * @Morgan flicks a coin to the boy He catched it and nods slightly, and it is obvious he wishes to leave. Having been in a similar position on many occasions, Molly dismisses him * Molly shuts the door, and sits at the table, drinking the wine <@Morgan> but then... * Molly speaks softly But then why did you buy it? <@Morgan> because... because I care for you and wished you to have something you desired * Molly watches him <@Morgan> because you deserve better than to be treated badly by those supposedly noble and, by the gods, if it takes me being discovered to get you that, then thats what must happen * Molly 's eyes go wide You would risk that, on my behalf? <@Morgan> risk? no. I would ensure it if it were required Your privacy is too big a thing to throw away so easily... <@Morgan> and yet I would * Molly keeps her eyes downcast, not looking at him I would hate to bear the responsibility of having forced your hand <@Morgan> the responsibility and choice would be mine I would never ask it of you * Molly sips her wine, looking at his chest <@Morgan> The choice would not be yours. * Molly looks up at him, and it is obvious that making eye contact is taking effort Morgan, please sit. I am truly sorry I spoke out of turn about the dress * @Morgan sits down * Molly meets his eyes, speaking softly Have I your forgiveness, liebes herz? <@Morgan> always I am glad to hear it, to have you thinking ill of me would pain me greatly * Molly drinks more, looking at the food, roast beef this time <@Morgan> I bought it because I wished you to have something beautiful... that is yours and no others' * Molly smiles at him You do not need to explain yourself, as long as it is not pity that drives you, I am content <@Morgan> You will not speak of this to Jaeger? But surely he already knows you bought it? * Molly looks confused <@Morgan> yes, but he believes that you dont So he would start our marriages with lies? * Molly blushes, and laughs darkly I am hardly in a position to judge _that_, am I? * Molly starts to eat, though she is not really hungry And, no, you know all of your secrets are safe with me, always... <@Morgan> and yours with me * Molly blushes, thinking it might be a reference to the things she has not said * Molly drinks more, emptying her goblet I might get some more wine, if that is agreeable to you? <@Morgan> You do as you will * Molly stands, going to the door Is there anything I can get for you that you would like? <@Morgan> no, I have everything I need * Molly goes downstairs, returning a few minutes later with a large jug of wine I did not ask for so much, but the man in the tavern thought it might save making more trips <@Morgan> he has a point * Molly sits back down, filling her goblet again. I have had a wonderful time here in Carleon <@Morgan> I'm glad I would have changed very little * Molly smiles at him <@Morgan> I would have had it that the trip was made for different reasons Really? What reasons would have improved it? <@Morgan> had we come purely for pleasure and not for... other reasons I do not believe I would have been allowed to accompany you for any other reason... * Molly looks at the table * @Morgan chuckles <@Morgan> believe me, had I taken it to mind, you would have accompanied me regardless And told jaeger that his bride to be was coming with you to Carleon why? * Molly looks at him, playfulness in her eyes <@Morgan> because as my employee thats my choice... and as a Veissgraf, he cannot argue against me I am a little confused about the ranks of Eisen... does that make you superior to him? <@Morgan> yes. He has title through service... I do not * Molly looks thoughtful Do you think, if you had brought me here in your capacity as a Veissgraf, he would trust you enough to then take me as a wife? <@Morgan> I dont know. My title isn't what I trade on. I trade on the fact some people respect my integrity I confess, I would have preferred to not have needed to carry out certain parts of the time we have spent here. I would much rather that we could have spent every day sight-seeing and talking, and spending our time together... <@Morgan> As would I * Molly pushes her plate away quietly, and turn to him I shall never forget this trip, for the rest of my life I will hold this time close to my heart * @Morgan rummages about in his pockets until he finds his flask * Molly looks away, feeling slightly awkward, and fidgets in her seat * Molly stands suddenly, going to the window to pull the curtains against the darkening sky. She lights candles around the room <@Morgan> Soon, I think, I shall be bowing to you * Molly sighs I should imagine so <@Morgan> but, were my standing to be known, I would bow anyway * Molly returns to the table Why would you bow to me? <@Morgan> because, regardless of standing, you're a lady through and through * Molly laughs <@Morgan> one with a kind heart and a sharper wit than I have known for a long while I am far from it, I play a dangerous game, one that requires my wits far more than my heart. A true lady would struggle with the path I have made for myself... I would not wish you to bow to me for more than propriety's sake <@Morgan> but it is a game that will elevate you to similar standing as those around you <@Morgan> you may have noticed... propriety means little to me...little clues, you know... injuring warwick on more than one occasion... threatening to murder people... Then bow if you will, but know that I am not as good as you think, nor half as good as I would wish to be * Molly drinks her wine <@Morgan> you are more than most men could or would ever wish for Only if my heart goes with it, surely? Would most men not want all of me, mind body and heart? * @Morgan speaks quietly <@Morgan> Goddess knows I would * Molly , having leant in to hear him better, moves back slightly. She drops her eyes * Molly goes to speak, and appears to change her mind <@Morgan> speak your mind girl * Molly takes a deep breath, avoiding eye contact If you were as most men, I doubt you would struggle to find all three * Molly blushes, eyes on the table, having revealed something more than intended I'm sorry, I... <@Morgan> You flatter me. If my intention were flattery, would I not have said such things and more many moons ago, rather than hiding such an inkling to ensure I did not damage our friendship? <@Morgan> many moons ago I was the grumpy, angry Master at Arms and nothing more * Molly smiles, still looking away You have not been that man to me for a goodly time now... Not since just before I told you of my secret <@Morgan> but I'm afraid I must be that man again once the guests arrive... too many know my secret and I must take great care to avoid revealing it to more We are both of us bound by duty, one that once we leave this place will fall back upon our shoulders... it is only here and now, in this place, that time stands still on the path of our lives. * Molly looks down, interlinking her fingers <@Morgan> I've been giving some thought to going home * Molly laughs softly, misreading his use of 'home' I have been thinking of not... <@Morgan> I think you misunderstand me, my lady * Molly looks wary You mean Eisen? <@Morgan> indeed * Molly looks at him, her face a studied neutrality only normally seen around evie and jaeger It is your decision, your future may well lie there * @Morgan frowns <@Morgan> stop that What have I done? <@Morgan> stop using that tone, that expression. I want your view on it, not what you think I should want to hear * Molly drops the guard, and her face shows sadness For you, I believe it may be the right thing to do... May be it is time to face your demons and find a life for yourself... at the very least, you shall _have_ to return on the passing of your father anyway.... <@Morgan> Indeed. I cannot allow Edward to take the honour of our family in the direction he has planned * Molly nods <@Morgan> I've been contemplating planting a vegetable patch on the far side of the woods * Molly looks confused On the estate, or in Eisen? <@Morgan> on the estate * @Morgan smiles <@Morgan> given the choice I would make the house my home for a few years yet. But as I've said, that is not my choice * Molly smiles back at him. She lets turns to face him, leaving one hand on the table to show her amenability if he wanted to take her hand Perhaps you could have a small house behind the woods also, if you could not remain master-at-arms, Lady Catherine might still let you live in the grounds? <@Morgan> perhaps. I really dont know. She is so young, so... flighty I think at the very least a vegetable patch might be good for you, I feel that you need to put down roots, no pun intended * Molly giggles <@Morgan> I fear I shall never be settled while my past haunts me so * Molly looks at him sadly I wish I could help you overcome it, but I would not even know where to start. I can not help but feel that you would suffer less if it were just your grief you fought, not your blame or self-loathing... <@Morgan> possibly I wish I could take some of your pain and burden for you... * Molly 's voice is soft, leaning in slightly * @Morgan looks down at his hands * Molly follows his glance <@Morgan> Truly I don't know that I want the burden lightened. I feel it would be too easy an escape You do not deserve to suffer so, you gain nothing from it... Moving on does not mean forgetting them, or loving them less, it just means being able to live out your days with peace in your mind. * Molly 's eyes well up, and she looks away so that he does not see, not wishing to add to what weighs upon him * @Morgan moves his hand over and grasps Molly's <@Morgan> do not weep, dear one. It does no good. * Molly closes her eyes, annoyed with herself I believe that in some circumstances, you are right about my heart being kind, for I feel pain at your pain. Do you know what I wished for, when I saw that star in Avebury? <@Morgan> No. * Molly feels two tears slowly run down her cheeks, unwanted I wished that you could have a life free from torment, that you would find a good companion to see you through your days well cared for. I wished this life for you, even if it meant I would never see you again. * Molly 's voice starts to falter, a lump in her throat <@Morgan> I've considered finding a companion, were my identity to become known. But the women I find enchanting enough are either not agreeable to the idea, through life or obligations * Molly wipes the tears with her free hand * @Morgan releases the other hand, apologising Then they are damned fools, for any woman who was wanted as a Companion by you would certainly incur my envy... * Molly takes his hand again, not wishing to let go <@Morgan> Of the two I've thought of as such, one cannot. The other... I do not know enough of her * Molly smiles at him Oh you do put me in a bind there, for part of me desperately wishes to know who these women are, and another part fears that I might envy them too much to be in their company! * @Morgan looks a Molly, staying quiet * Molly wars within herself No, I must know, for it will torment me too much to puzzle over it otherwise! <@Morgan> Then ask, my girl Morgan, who are these women who stand a chance at enjoying your company as I have these last few days? * Molly looks away <@Morgan> Captain Tsaylur... though of her I know too little * Molly nods, knowing it makes perfect sense <@Morgan> and the other cannot be my companion, much as I might wish it, were it the case * Molly looks puzzled Is she an eisen girl? * @Morgan shakes his head Would she be your Companion, if her hands were not tied? <@Morgan> I... I dont know <@Morgan> I think... yes, I think I could show her to you <@Morgan> her likeness is here about the place. come with me and I might find it for you * Molly stands, her slight pout belieing her jealousy * @Morgan leads Molly by the hand, through the adjoining door to his room, into the hallway and back into her room, before placing her before the mirror * Molly looks really confused, for a smart girl, she can be very naive * Molly sits before it, looking at him in the reflection * @Morgan waits patiently I am afraid I verstehe nicht <@Morgan> lower down than my face, my girl You have it in your pocket? <@Morgan> no, what you search for is reflected in the mirror * Molly looks again, realisation slowly dawning on her Oh... I.... goodness... * Molly looks at the table, biting her lip <@Morgan> You see why she is unable? * Molly nods slightly ş She is unable because she could not guarantee that you would wish her company for all her days... everything else is incidental * Molly watches his reflection, trying to read his reaction * @Morgan shakes his head <@Morgan> no, because she is betrothed She is. But only because you had not wished her company when it was offered. <@Morgan> I don't recall it being offered * Molly laughs softly I recall it very well. Firstly in the corridor by our rooms, then in the barn, and on the day you saved my life, have I offered you any comfort or aid you would ask of me... * Molly pauses slightly And because you never asked, I took it to mean your affection did not extend as far as Companionship... <@Morgan> I think, were circumstances different... my affections would extend further * Molly smiles, biting her lip You might have considered me to be your mistress? <@Morgan> were I... able to accept it myself, yes I meant if your heart were free... <@Morgan> indeed, * Molly stands up, turning to him Now you know almost all of what I was preventing myself from saying to you... <@Morgan> almost? * Molly blushes Surely you can not wish to know it all? <@Morgan> mysteries do not suit me * Molly looks undecided I shall tell you, but only if you can promise that you will not hold it against me <@Morgan> of course Firstly, I _was_ jealous that you were so fond of Evie... * Molly looks at him, and looks away <@Morgan> Secondly? When I said that if I knew the secret to your heart I would not share it with another? * Molly waits for his acknowldgement <@Morgan> yes... * Molly blushes, and speaks quietly It was because I would be tempted to use it myself... * @Morgan stands, silent * Molly turns away I knew I should not have spoken it <@Morgan> It is... I would say of no consequence, but that is not true. It is of consequence, but... you are betrothed, and... * Molly turns back There are so many reasons why I could not do such a thing... your heart is not free, I must marry for the sake of security, and were the first two not a factor, it would still be wrong of me to manipulate you in such a way * Molly looks to the floor <@Morgan> I would not require manipulation You believe that you would succumb willingly? That _is_ surely flattery <@Morgan> Molly, I've said before, you're a charming, clever, very beautiful woman. You have personality, which so many so called 'nobles' lack. * Molly blushes, and meets his eyes I see from the way you look at me that you speak true * Molly looks lost in thought <@Morgan> You shouldn't think so hard... it intimidates men I'm sorry, I'm just damning Evie for making me think things I should not <@Morgan> oh? * Molly looks at him, and casts her eyes downwards She told me that when she used to kiss you, she felt joy, and almost sick with nervousness.... I told her that I didn't believe there would ever come a time that I felt so nervous. And yet right this minute, knowing you know all my secrets, I feel it * @Morgan smiles <@Morgan> she exaggerates... again How can she be exaggerating on only something she can feel? <@Morgan> She exaggerates everything as far as I can tell I believe her on this, if I am nervous now, in her position I would have been much more so I would imagine * Molly can't meet his eyes, knowing whats she's just implied * @Morgan places his hands on her shoulders * Molly looks up at him * @Morgan leans in and gently kisses Molly's lips * Molly shivers against him, her body both burning and tingling. Following his lead, she kisses him back * @Morgan continues the embrace, tenderly bringing a hand to her face * Molly parts her lips slightly, as she's seen others do whilst kissing, an invitation * @Morgan feels Molly's lips part slightly and probes gently with his tongue * Molly lets out a soft moan, and touches his tongue with hers, gently exploring it * @Morgan slips his arms around her, holding her close. After what is only another thirty seconds or so, though it feels much longer, he pulls away from her mouth slightly, kissing her just on the lips, once, then twice, and starts to pull away * Molly feels him pull away, and moves slightly closer, kissing him a third time, before moving away herself * Molly 's face flushes, her cheek hotter beneath his hand. She looks in to his eyes, unable to speak * Molly swallows hard, trying to find her voice * @Morgan breathes heavily * Molly 's voice is but a whisper I swear to you, the things I have been told were no word of a lie, and certainly less than actuality * @Morgan starts to look guilty * Molly looks at him, compassion at his guilt <@Morgan> I think, my... I think it is time I retired * Molly drops her eyes, looking ashamed If that is what you wish... <@Morgan> not particularly, but it is late You once said you would do anything for me.... <@Morgan> and that stands Then when the dawn comes, will you still let me be your companion, at least until we leave carleon? <@Morgan> If that is what you desire More than you would know... * Molly moves from his embrace, holding his hand. She leads him to the door Good night and sleep thee well, mein liebstes * @Morgan bows <@Morgan> my lady * Molly watches him go, and shuts the door behind him
